The solar panel worked great on my Reveal X 2.0 and kept it running for over 6 months. But I have now switched to an external battery box with 12v 12ah SLA battery connected and the camera has been running for 8 months and still shows 100%. I will probably purchase a Reveal XB this year to increase my inventory of cameras, and will construct another 12v external battery box for it.
That sounds pretty awesome. Did you find plans or design it yourself?

I have the xpro with solar panel batteries last a long time picture quality is great had some setup questions their customer service was fantastic

@@ReviewThisThing I bought my Reveal SB, I think that’s what it’s called LOL, last year. Charged battery pack as directed and hung camera on tree where it would get sunlight. Had camera out November 2021 to February 2022. Camera was on a lease 2 1/2 hours away. Worked great! Only time it showed low battery was during severe cold and ice. I live in central PA. Once weather warmed enough solar panel did its job. Very pleased. Have camera out now since August, fully charged batteries and so far so good. It will be out til February again. This time its only 1/2 hour away.

The solar panel has its own battery and will NOT charge their LiPo pack. When you plug in a charged panel, and a charged LiPo pack, the camera will only take power from the panel. If the panel stops working, or goes dead, the Lipo is supposed to take over and run the camera. If the LiPo dies, you will need to take it out of service and charge it with a wall charger (not supplied). In all my testing, to date, with the new c810 firmware the LiPo pack is dropping to 20% in a few weeks with not many pictures. Support and I are talking about things...
I purchased a tactical Reveal XB trail cam and I am very disappointed. Send it in for repair and they sent it back saying that it was not repairable looking at the camera. I decided I had nothing to lose so I decide if I could see if I can get it open well to my surprise when I did find the screws the screw holes were packed full of crap which tells me nobody open the camera without seeing it in for repair.
Well that's definitely not ideal!

Nice review.. I have 6 xb’s and 1 x reveal cameras. Had one XB just stop working, won’t power on at all. I’ve had them just over a year and they have very little use on them. I contacted customer service and they wanted me to ship it to them on my dime, if it’s broken they will fix and ship it back on my dime. Or I have the option to buy a new camera at a somewhat reasonable price if they can’t fix it… I would have to pay for shipping on the new camera as well…. I’m not really satisfied with what they offered me. I feel that they should fix my camera or replace it on their dime. I do like the cameras when they are working. I’ve had times when they won’t send a video? It happens randomly and I can’t figure out why.
That does sound a bit strange that they wouldn’t fix it within a year. I can’t remember now what their warranty is. I do know they’ve been working hard trying to hire some more customer service people, so hopefully some of those issues will be fixed soon!
Will that camera run on a 12 volt waterproof external battery pack? Does it have a DC plug that could be connected to an external battery pack?
I was going to try to make sure I had the right answer before I responded, but what I can tell you is that you can use a solar panel. I haven’t seen anything saying you can use a 12v battery.

I do not know if the XB is discontinued or not but the X 2.0 is not an upgrade to the XB. The X 2.0 is only 16MP and "low-glow" as opposed to the XB being "no-glow" and 24MP. Even the new "Pro" is only 16MP (but is no-glow); making the XB or SK the best cameras in their lineup.
Oh wow! I did hear that they aren’t making the XB any more. Might out to snatch them up if we see them!
@@ReviewThisThing 100% - unless they are making a replacement for the XB, I would grab all I could find at $119. I have 4 and am considering more, now, if it is in fact discontinued.
I’m hearing the Pro and X 2.0 are the only ones still in production.

I have a lag in the motion sensing and picture taken. Especially with video.
How long?
If i use this with the solar panel will the batteries last 2 months?
If you can make sure the panel gets direct sunlight, it should last longer than that
@ReviewThisThing My issue is the camera is going to be 3 to 6 hours away from me. Elk just don't roam around my neighborhood. 🤣 So I have to be theft proof. And battery proof. Because I don't want to travel out there every month.
@randyhelgeson1254 that makes complete sense. We’ve had excellent luck with the batteries and chargers staying good as long as there’s enough sun hitting it!
So how many pictures do you get sent instantly in 6 weeks of battery life?
Let me see if I can research that a little more exactly. I know it was several hundred, though.

Well, I THOUGHT it was when we did the video, but it seems to be back now!

@@ReviewThisThing In early Fall of ‘22, I purchased 5 XB cameras after a tractor was stolen from my place during that summer. This inherited land is 3 hours from me. The individual arrested claimed he borrowed it. He was charged with receiving stolen property but the Judge dismissed the case. With these cameras I am able to share suspicious behavior directly with the local sheriff and/or game warden. This past Spring(2023) 2 trespassers lost their guns, 4 wheeler, fishing boat and truck: trespassing, hunting deer on private property out of season with kill in hand during duck season, & under the influence. Bad choices for them.
Worth the cost of lithium batteries and a trip over every two months to reposition, change chips and routine maintenance to the old home place.
Oh wow! Great job catching them! It’s sad how much that stuff happens without being able to prove it.
