The Pharcyde "Passin' Me By" (BET Version) from Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde.
Critically acclaimed as an absolute classic of the alternative Hip-Hop genre, it’s been name-checked by Kanye West as his favorite album of all time and aptly described by NME as "... a cartoon-strip of blunt-smoking antics, sexual innuendo and unashamed political incorrectness, crammed with infectious beats.” A true West Coast original that sprang up amidst the early 1990s gangster rap landscape like LA’s answer to De La Soul’s D.A.I.S.Y.-Age mentality in its freeform creativity. Essential and enduringly unique, Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde is a rite of passage for any serious Hip-Hop head.

The Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics, Zion I, Blu & Exile, Living Legends, The Grouch, Murs, Eligh, People Under The Stairs, Blackalicous/Gift of Gab, Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5 are ALL AMAZING bringing soul, lyrics, unique flows, originality, and fun to music from the west coast like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Mos Def, Gang Starr/GURU, Mr. Lif etc.. on the east coast or Lupe Fiasco, Atmosphere, Eyedea, J Dilla, etc in the midwest. Give them all their flowers now
You know your shit brother you seem like a cool guy
Personally I'm a Public Enemy [I love the stuff from "Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black" (1991) to "Most of My Heroes Still Don't Appear on No Stamps" (2012) excluding the crap that was "Rebirth of a Nation" (2005) with Paris and Dead Prez; "Revolverlution" (2002) and "There's A Poison' Goin' On" (1999) are classics], Gang Starr (their later stuff was unbelievable - "Hard to Earn" (1994) was their best album in terms of vibe and concept, "Daily Operation" (1992), "Step Into the Arena" (1990), "No More Mr. Nice Guy" (1989) are definite morning classics; "The Ownerz" (2003) is probably their most victorious and triumphant album - the world was theirs, and "Moment of Truth" (1998) is possibly my favorite album for the lyrics and production value - Preem was a fucking god and Guru at his peak.), and Deltron 3030 fan. ("Deltron 3030" (2008) [Del cannot be beat, and Dan's tracks are sooooooo goooooood to where the instrumentals make superb sampling tracks] and "Event 2" (2013)). My music though is inspired mostly by Tangerine Dream, an entirely different genre (Komische electronic/ambient electronic) of an entirely different country.
Can’t for get Digable Planets.

@@childvspuddle5732 It means that his assumptions were wrong about her and he must come to terms with the fact that she does not have any special interests in him.
@@childvspuddle5732
"A twinkle in her eye" is a term that means someone is conveying some frisky intensions, by a little glimmer in the eye. It's an American idiom indicating sexual interest, seen in a subtle look.
This guy is saying what he understood to be such a glimmer in the girl's eye towards him, turned out to be literally just a glimpse, and she was indeed expressing no interest at all. Dig?

Bro, realist comment on here
@@thedude8526 not the one from my high school! Peace!
You should call her 😉
I personally consider this the best hip hop song ever made. Some of these lines are borderline Morrissey lyrics, "I guess a twinkle in her eye is just a twinkle in her eye." It's simple, but deep and painful, and also profound. It tells a long story of heartbreak to arrive at that simple conclusion summed up in one line. The opening reverse sample and reverb on the vocals makes it sound like it takes place in the past, when things are bittersweet. The organ sample from Summer in the City makes it all nostalgic and melancholy. It's just a brilliant song.
I hear that. It’s up there with other cuts of hip hop perfection for me, too. Sometimes songs that sound melancholy but maybe aren’t completely (or at all) just do the best types of damage to our senses that other feel good song examples just can’t. A lot of my favorites from the genre are songs with thought out soulful, deep cutting beats and instrumental layers, but with the rapping on top of it being real, dirty, funky shit that makes the complete package an attack on all of my check boxes. Southern groups were the best with that shit and guys like DJ Screw took it a step further. Grab some headphones and check out these tracks if you’re up for it:
Screw / UGK - Something Good
Screw / Al-D - No Way Out
Screw / Point Blank - Mind Went Blank
Point Blank - After I Die
Three-6 Mafia - Da Summa
Three-6 Mafia - Fuckin Wit Dis Click
Screw / Guerrilla Maab - Fondren
20-2-Life - Servin’ A Deuce
Geto Boys - Mind Playin Tricks (obvious)
Goodie Mob - Guess Who
Scarface - Greed
Definitely a crossover masterpiece. Transcends being 'just' a hip hop track.
And then you add this brilliant dream state video with its humour, heartache and visual confusion and it’s the total package.
Bro wrote an entire essay
LMFAO at comparing Morrissey the fucking racist to the Pharcyde.
