Firenze (Florence), the cultural capital of Italy

Florence is known as the cultural capital of Italy and one of the most popular tourist attractions of the country. It has a lot of interesting sights. The Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio are probably the best known attractions but there is more, a lot more: many other churches (such as the Santa Maria Novella church and the Santa Croce church), the Palazzo Vecchio on the Piazza della Signoria, the villa of the Medici, several top museums (such as the Bargello), pleasant piazzas and many interesting monuments. And of course not to forget: the delicious Tuscan cuisine.
Firenze staat bekend als de culturele hoofdstad van Italië en is één van de populairste bezienswaardigheden van het land. De stad heeft dan ook heel wat te bieden. De Duomo, de Uffizi galerij en de Ponte Vecchio zijn wellicht de bekendste bezienswaardigheden maar ze zijn lang niet de enige in Firenze. Er is nog heel wat meer moois te zien: vele andere kerken (zoals de Santa Maria Novella kerk en de kerk van Santa Croce), het Palazzo Vecchio op de Piazza della Signoria, de villa van de de Medici, verschillende topmusea (zoals het Bargello museum), aangename pleintjes en vele andere interessante monumenten. En natuurlijk mogen we ook de verrukkelijke Toscaanse keuken niet vergeten.
