I'm always glad that you include the applause in these videos -- it's nice to see the students receive the well-deserved appreciation from the audience.
Lovely musicianship here, as is always the case with performances by NEC students, but the tempo of the 12/8 first movement, which is marked moderato, is a bit sluggish, rather leaning towards lento.
This was great, but his approach for playing the 2nd movement feels a little harsh when it should sound like something fleeting and joyful. That aside, still a very enjoyable performance.
Also he is going to cut his career short with serious neck and spine issues if someone doesn’t work with him to fix his bad habits right away. This makes me so sad because his playing is wonderful.
He forgets to pull from the lower strings in the opening bars so we cannot hear any of the harmonies, which are the foundation of the entire musical essay. This is very basic technique a college instructor should have imparted. Instead it’s just the sound of wood hitting the string. Also Selective Vibrato Disease which seems to plague a lot of younger string players. This is an extremely irritating affectation.

Wonderful... Jonah might want to learn to apply a good French Polish to his instrument though. It would look as good as his playing.
