U Substitution for Integrals
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лис 2014
- Integration by Substitution is a technique where you rewrite the integrand (the function we are trying to integrate) in a such a way that makes it easier for us to evaluate.
This technique can be used when the integrand is a product of some function and its derivative. By replacing the function with a new variable, u, and also replacing the "dx" with a "du" we are able to transform an integral expression from something complicated to something easy.
Every u-substitution problem has two major steps, and can be used for both indefinite and definite integrals.
This lesson shows you the two major steps that are necessary for every single U-Sub problem.

Paid for this lessons and man did it save my life omg. I got a really good grade after failing calc the first time! I really recommend this to everyone, it honestly helps a lot. Thanks Calcworkshop!
Hey Alex - thanks so much, so glad to hear you did well on your finals. :)
8yrs later, you just made calculus easy for me.
Thanks a lot. It's only the depth of your knowledge, but also certainly a great power of teaching style. Amazingly outstanding teaching style.
Thank you, You are thorough and efficient.
Thanks Brent!
You are God's gift to mankind. Thank you for offering help for free. I wish you were my teacher. So clear and a thorough explanation. Unlike my current teacher.
Hey KegStandDude! Thanks for the great comments. :-) Glad I could help you out.
Hats off to you....ma'am...your explanation is easy to grasp...i wish i could have you as my regular teacher
Thank you very much for this video. I am a final year Mechanical Engineering student and was told in a class the other day that the course requires a good understanding of integration by substitution, a thing I have done nothing with in 2 years. This was the first video I found, and very helpful, Thanks :D
Hey +Michael Horsnell - Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!!
Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos. I just finished getting a subscription on your website, and I'm really happy I did. My plan is to review your entire Calc 2 section over the summer before I actually take the course in the fall. I really like my Calc teacher, but I'd prefer to get comfortable with the material before I actually start and from the videos I've seen on this UA-cam account, your lessons are incredibly clear and easy to follow. Really appreciate the help you're offering! :)
Hey Arlo - WOW, thank You So Much for the kind words... and welcome to Calcworkshop, great plan there by the way. By getting started early, you'll be all set for Calculus 2. :-)
Best mum teacher. I loved it
OMG! Thank you for this!
Great video with a very clear explanation. Thank you!!
Hi +Lismaury Galiano - Thank you for the compliments.
Thanks for the video. Great explanation!
+Enmanuel Chavez :)
now that makes me clear with integrals
This helped a lot. Thank you!
Hi Tsaxforte, you're very welcome! :)
Well explained!
Hi TheHRchannel - Thanks Again!
Best online calc teacher there is-bar none
Hey Chris - nice to see you over here. :)
wow i understood perfectly thank you!! is there a second part?
Hi Jeff Jhonson, thanks for the kind words. :) You can find a second example on my site located here: calcworkshop.com/u-substitution/
Hai mam i got well to know integration after watching this video
thanks for the video this is going to help me with that quiz
Hi +ahmed shamsi - glad we could help!
I wish I could pay for the site, but as student I don't really have too much of my own money to pay. Will there be a possibility to pay for only selected courses? For example I know calculus 1, but I need calculus 2?
Great job! Does your website cost money? Just asking because as a student I can't afford it but I would definitely pay for it if I could. This helped a lot!
Hey +Aaron Loomis - Yes, it's subscription based. Thanks so much for your kind words. :)
I cannot see the link to the second video please help
why did you only do an easy problem? i wish you did 2 or 3 semi challening ones so we know how to go about them. but still very good explanation.
wooooooowthat so amazing
excellent
+Enrique Lozano :)
Will there be more videos coming soon?
+Hassan Alqahtani - Yes, soon :)
what happened to the du?
in u- substitution the key is to realize that you are undoing a chain rule. When you do the chain rule you muliply f . g .g' , so basically the du is = to the part that was added on due to the multiplication, so to undo it (integrate) you just take it off. if you understand my explanation you will be able to integrate u-sub visually as long as you remember other rule of intergration.
those uncapped expo markers are freaking me out
:-)
waaaooh thats how maths should be taught
Hey +Benson Felix - Thank You SO much!!
hi
could do some tutorial of partial derivative and
Geometric series?
