2022 was strange ... Due to financial issues, I sold many of my knives, watches and lights ... Some true grail items which still hurt ... But it gave me a sense of focus ... Now what is left have meaning and value beyond the hype ... I use them, sharpen them, and they spark joy ... So for 2022 I found my joy in EDC despite the hardship ... 🥂
Everybody knows having a lanyard on your knife with a bunny head bead makes it have better edge retention and gets you 10 edc cool guy points. 😂 It's just a fad, like man buns and veganism.
@Gone Awry weird cuz I never saw a lanyard on a pocket knife until recently. And I only see it on UA-cam. Care to explain the utility of a bunny head bead and a short lanyard on a full size Pocket knife? Utility other than getting hung up on stuff and getting dirty, bloody ext.
@@rich8085 nothing like an “outdoorsman” shitting on others EDC habits in a UA-cam comment section. 🙄 A lanyard and bead serve no other purpose other than if you have a deep carry clip on a knife it’s easier to just grab the lanyard and pull out the knife without digging in your pockets. And also, people just like them. There’s nothing else to know, nor should anyone care to especially to a man’s man outdoorsman type like you who I’m sure carry’s a 12 inch fixed blade
A lanyard hole on a full size fixed blade camp knife makes sense to me. On a full sized folder with a clip, it feels like a charm hole on a cell phone case
Biggest change for me was actually getting organized and figuring out what was important for me to EDC on a typical work day. I now carry a beater folding knife, olight I3T flashlight, zebra f-701 pen, and a cheap notepad, all in a Hide and Drink waxed canvas pocket pouch (which is AWESOME, you all should check it out!). I keep some band aids and some cash in the zippered pocket. I also now carry my new Victorinox Huntsman, and a Leatherman Style PS on my work keys with the Nite Ize s beaner. And finally, a Leatherman Rev on my belt. Sounds like a lot but it works for me, and I use everything at some point during my work week.
I’ve basically stopped rotating knives. I just carry the same stuff regularly. I carry a Beretta subcompact Storm, your version of the Slide, a Leatherman Signal, a challenge coin, and an Olight AA light(can’t remember the model number). I still have and use the knives, but they are in my backpack, desk, etc. Take some time to relax. Always enjoy seeing your videos.
I've had my core EDC for awhile now, all i really rotate is the pen and that's only once in awhile. Knife: F5.5 Pen: Ti2 tech liner / tactical turn bolt action / others... Wallet: Open sea leather gun deck and cc x rh hitchhiker Flashlight: Olight Barton 3 Carry on!
I got a new fixed blade this year its been weird everyday carrying it luckily it has a wide belt loop so I can almost scout carry it I finally pulled the trigger and got a nice edc flashlight I'm super satisfied with my olight arkfeld for carrying in the pocket that thing has a super slim profile and for using it literally everyday I have only had to charge it once
you might like the Tale of Knives keywrap. sure the snap closure adds a step but the comfort from the leather, the silence, and the reduction of flop all make it worth it.
i think ive done what youve done! now adays my edc is my wallet (dakine zippered card wallet) , phone (s22), and then i have mykey assembly ( car key, style ps, house key and a leatherman brewer. ) Then i either carry my bugout, my free t4 or my free p4 (leatherman). and then my casio watch. nothing to fancy except the custom bugout really.
this year i carried the UK-PK and it's so light and i love it, i got a few EDC's that i really like, but go back to the Pen-knife even though i live in CA and am not restricted.
My EDC changed so much this past year, 2022, I got my first knife, started carrying pens regualary. Went from a fountain pen to a roller ball/fountain/sharpie. got a Flashie. put lanyards on my stuff.
I literally got rid of everything and have one perfect EDC carry and I know you'd think it's sick debating on putting on the Facebook page to see reactions.
Less cheap copies and more quality gear. Big change was coming back to this channel, there are a lot of channels/facebook pages etc out there but they get spoiled by people showing off-“I got this limited edition/every colour/expensive/ etc. I like your stuff as your a genuine, nice guy, you are informative and honest in your reviews which I find very useful and you obviously love what you do. Thanks man, happy new year
I love fountain pens but I hate converters. Settled on carrying Lamy because cartridges are readily available and the pens are super affordable for everyone.
My carry changed in 2 ways in 2022. First I finalised my actual EDC. I know carry what I need/want (or a version of). Secondly I finally found a Ti wallet I love; the Gil-Tek RAW2.
So, I was just introduced to your channel just recently by my husband. I hadn't even realized this was a whole community. But I do carry a couple things every day, and had been looking to add a couple things. I'm active duty Navy, and I always carry a pen, sharpie (and a couple other things, including the standard key-phone-wallet), but have wanted to get a multi-tool that would work for me, a flashlight, and either a knife or a box cutter. I used to carry a nice (for me) Benchmade, but it got lost/stolen. Still salty about that. Also considering a pry bar, and some more stuff that would live in a bag. I was wondering if you had any ideas of doing videos for women/mother's, that kind of thing? I know EDC is unisex, but stuff that would be more useful for us? I feel like I'm a pretty handy woman/mother, but I also don't need things like a saw. Anyway, I agree that EDC should be just that--stuff you don't have to think about, it just goes with you. I have been binging your channel to see what would be good for me, and just leave it at that. But long story short (😂) I'm glad I came across your channel, and glad to see it's getting better for you. Happy holidays, and Happy New Year!
If you need a multi tool with pliers, I like the Leatherman free series....easy to open one handed. If you don't need pliers, just a nice pair of scissors and other minor things, the Victorinox Compact is awesome 😊
@@cc_likesknives I was kind of looking between the Leatherman Micra, Skeletool CX and the SOG PowerPint, but they all just have aspects that I like. Might consider a Swiss army tool as well.
Ive finally started to get some true name brand edc gear rather than the Walmart special and I've really enjoyed it and it makes me happy to load my pockets every morning
Happy New Year! I’ve always been a fountain pen guy but settled on ballpoints for convenience. I’m looking forward to getting a carry friendly fountain pen.
Funny you mention the Liliput, bought it in copper in November and it has replaced my SP Bullet which I’ve carried for the past 3 years straight as my EDC pen. Have a wonderful New Year.
I started carrying a lot less. I used to carry a knife, multitool, lighter, wallet, keys, pen and notebook and now I only carry keys a small multitool on my keys and money if I have too and when I'm camping I would add m esee izula and my baton 3.
I just started to enjoy having a lanyard on my pocket knife. Makes it easier to grab my knife. Adds more personality to my carry same as changing out the scales. I’m sure I’ll get tired of it one dat
Great Video, thanks! A New EDC item for 2023 I am looking forward to testing out is the CRKT Stash Bit Driver. 2 weeks in and minimum use but work is picking back up again so we will see!
So... does it really not smear for lefties? I write all the time and have become very pen picky, but have never invested in nicer pens. But these fountains are sparking my interest.... Thanks Taylor! I started carrying a little bit more... not tons...
I think i`m done with folders for now. Got myself a Real Steel Cormorant Apex, fits perfect. I built a small blackout EDC, it fills an empty spot between my(featured on your channel) colourful summer carry and the OD winter one. Since you carry so many different pieces of EDC items I would be curious to know what pockets you wear everything comfortably. And do you carry a firearm as well?
In a past video, you were talking about bits for your Leatherman ratcheting driver. I found a set on Amazon by Wiha that in the comments say they fit perfectly. This may be too late. I thought it wouldn't hurt to tell you. Love your channel, really like the more budget stuff.
You don't need to ge a new car to get rid of the key, it's pretty easy to convert to keyless.. the kei-truck is really easy, excursion might need some thinking with the immobilizer but should'nt be a problem. + You have the code lock already on the ford:)
I was on a kick of high end knives, but after noticing I never carried them I’ve downsized to just my Zaan, para3, & malibu for fidget reasons. Light, pen, phone, keys that’s it.

Taylor, I’ve been watching you since your tech days and have waisted 0 minutes in doing so. Not much of a commenter out here however today i want to wish you a happy new year. You’ve cycled through so much stuff. I wonder what you’d land on for “one of each.” For me, it’s a Rolex exp 2, wc large inkosi, a g2 tibolt & a 5” Zw simple pry with bottle opener
How my carry changed in 2022 is what's on me everyday is all I need. I don't need more variations or options. Edc world price keeps going up and if we keep buying useless crap like coins or overpriced mateirals and what not then we take away why we got into edc to begin with.
zerofeud helped me combine my wallet and my pouch this year with the C.U.P. I really embraced the smaller items, knives and flashlights... and I've really focused on buying items that I actually know that I'm going to like. not things I'm interested in trying. I think that's just figuring out what you like though
I’m watching your video, love the info. I’m a native North Carolinian. And glad to see your doing this in our great state. I really like the merch you have on. What a nice way to wrap up the year. Thanks Taylor for the content. 👍
You’ve cycled through so much stuff. I wonder what you’d land on for “one of each.” For me, it’s a Rolex exp 2, wc large inkosi, a g2 tibolt & a 5” Zw simple pry with bottle opener
I used to change out my carry every single day, everything changed. Lately I’ve been carrying the same 4 things in my pockets
Thanks for everything Taylor! Wishing you and your family the best year possible :)
How my carry changed in 2022 is what's on me everyday is all I need. I don't need more variations or options. Edc world price keeps going up and if we keep buying useless crap like coins or overpriced mateirals and what not then we take away why we got into edc to begin with.
Happy New Year enjoy the content you'll get used to the keys may have a good 2023
zerofeud helped me combine my wallet and my pouch this year with the C.U.P. I really embraced the smaller items, knives and flashlights... and I've really focused on buying items that I actually know that I'm going to like. not things I'm interested in trying. I think that's just figuring out what you like though
Dude, why don't you convert your ignition to keyless?
Big idea design has been with you a very long time taylor. I here they are some awesome dudes
They really are some of my favorite people. Just awesome dudes who make cool stuff. 🤘🏻
I’m watching your video, love the info. I’m a native North Carolinian. And glad to see your doing this in our great state. I really like the merch you have on. I looked at your website and it doesn’t have it there. How can I get the hat and hoodie. I’m a subscriber of your channel and can’t wait for the next one . Thanks kenny
