  • In this video, I will be BREAKING DOWN ALL Of Caitlin Clark’s Assists And Turnovers in her latest game against the Washington Mystics. Caitlin Clark had a monstrous game against the mystics, tallying 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists. Even so, her 6 turnovers is what got the reporters attention after the game, causing Aliyah Boston to step in. Is there a reason for all of her turnovers?

      And Temi will play defense. I think with her back they’ll be able to play for the steals with their backcourt. Mitchell is a liability on the defensive end because of her size but she can nullify that with heavy pressure on the passing lanes to keep her out of switches. Plus Temi already knows exactly how to play with CC, CC will average a triple double. But nobody is gonna get the ball in the second quarter because Mitchell is not going to give anybody the ball 😂.

    Phenomenal breakdowns as always Carter. ✊
    Just an observation….A very important process that happens as the game is played decade over decade, is what a ‘bad pass’ or a ‘bad shot’ is by definition. This has evolved as the player’s evolve and elevate their skills. Before Stephen Curry, the outside 3 point shots that SC was taking, were considered ‘bad shots’ that were not encouraged or a large part of the game because the mindset was that those outside shots were ‘bad shots’ till SC came in and was the literal game changer.
    Same with the definition and overall view of a ‘bad pass’. It’s evolved over time and CC has elevated the game and is redefining what used to be a ‘bad shot’ and ‘bad pass’. Especially unique as a player in the WNBA who is a generational player because she’s not just an amazing player like say Aja Wilson is an amazing player…. CC is a game changer.
    So as her teammates rise to her level and we see in real time, the definitions are being modified and elevated which is what, by definition ,is a game changer!
    Again… gonna praise you cause your breakdowns are some of the best out there Carter! Keep up the phenomenal work!🎉🙌✊🔥

Analyze the Fever, Sky game today how do you blow a fifteen point lead. Nalyssa Smith poor defense on Angel Reese was a contributing factor.

    Caitlin Clark is 2024 ROTY & MVP!
    MVP = MOST VALUABLE PLAYER NOT BEST but can be. Caitlin leads the league in TOTAL POINTS PRODUCED, which is the BEST metric that INDICATES the VALUE of a player to her TEAM.
    SINCE MID-JUNE,, Caitlin & the Fever have been RANKED #1 OFFENSIVE team.
    Also, in stats for best player, which can be extended to MVP, is there any way to record the amount of blitzing Caitlin has had to endure this season, which also happens to be her ROOKIE season? How much Caitlin has grown in only 4 months, her ROOKIE season in the wnba, is nothing short of AMAZING. What is an even bigger WONDER is how much, through Caitlin's influence, the Fever Team has IMPROVED!
    One more thing to consider for MVP, why is Caitlin #1 on the scouting reports and NOT A'ja? Hmmmmm
    Caitlin Clark is 2024 ROTY & MVP.

    Nice video. But dude. There is no "it is what it is" or "building chemistry".... When they get a ball in their hands and don't catch it... It's on the receiver. They honestly don't look like professional ballers. They look like grade school basketball

    • @outsidethegarden
      @outsidethegarden 3 місяці тому

      I'm a newbie, so I don't know what's really going on -- but it makes sense to me that her passes are incredibly quick, fast and hard, and sometimes they're to an open space in front of the receiver. so you have to be ready for them. and if you're not used to that, then "the chemistry" hasn't developed yet. that's not CC's fault, but it's not really the receiver's fault exactly -- I think of it as the coach needing to get people to expect her passes and train to be able to deal with them.

  • @k.t.harmon343

    Son I’m sorry but you don’t know what the hell you are talking about , those so called Steve Nash passes were simple as hell I was doing that in elementary, she threw one pass when the defender was between Clark and the screener, it got tipped by the defender an you said her teammate didn’t catch it , I was done with this video , that behind the back pass was awful , that was a Steve Nash pass she didn’t complete

      With such PASSING SKILLS, you MUST have PLAYED in the NBA, no?

  • @TyroneBiggins81
    @TyroneBiggins81 3 місяці тому +6

    When you have the ball in your hands all the time you are going to have some turnovers. I will say nearly 1/3 of her turnovers are due to miscommunication with her teammates or they just don’t handle the pass and bobble it. Turnovers will go down the more this team gels but Clark is going to push and make some risky passes so 4-5 turnovers will be common but the reward of 4-5 easy buckets a game because of that evens it out. She plays fast.

Caitlin is definitely a brilliant passer and the players didnt seem ready gornthis type of passing. Im not saying her teamates arent good, just that theyre noy used to this amount of passing. As time goes on the entire team seems yo be finding the chemistry.
    In every sport its amazing to play with a great passer. It makes the game exciting for the entire team and lifts the entire team.

      Caitlin is an average to above average defender. Most that say she is horrible are her haters. In Iowa they ran a lot of Zone but the Fever mostly run man with a lot of switching. Early on she struggled a bit with the switches and would get caught in traffic or stuck behind screens cause she’d get out of position. Then Sides would sub her out for Wheeler on defensive at end of games and announcers say things like Wheeler is a batter defender, which haters interpret as Clark sucks. No Wheeler is a 9 year vet who knows the system better, this has not happened though since the Dream game as Clark has gotten much better.

And if it is, is it not still valuable that she doesn't lose possession after missing as much as a lotta ppl? Idk a whole lot about basketball yet, so Idk

    "Chemistry" takes time. C Clark had what - 2 weeks- after the draft to prepare for WNBA. The chemistry at Iowa among C Clark, K Martin, G Marshall, S Affolter & H Stuelke at Iowa took.a while. I get the impression that the connection between H Sruelke & Clark steadily improved 2023-24 season.
    On pushing the pace, when Clark gets a rebound the teammates need to have someone run to the rim (Stuelke was gr8 at this having been a track sprinter) and at least one head to the corner beyond the 3 pt line (Martin or Marshall's role); this gives Clark 4 options: long pass to rim runner or to 3 point shooter, pull up for a "logo" 3 or drinlve to the basket for 2 (often +1).
    When Clark.has a triple double, I bet the other team rarely wins.

    At the 5:21 mark where Clark's pass is too high, it is easy to see that defender is actually pushing Clark back with her body making it difficult for the pass to be accurate. Zooming in and pausing on the clip makes it more obvious. In fact, Clark almost falls down.

    That first Aliya Boston play you showed she passed the ball to her in traffic someone hit the ball as soon as she caught and if you pause it the minute she passed the ball there are 4 people less than a foot away from Aliya and it was a bad pass to be honest. The ball should have been thrown across court to the person in the corner if she had any real court vision come on dude if you are going to highlight things be honest about what you are seeing. The play of Aliya posting in the paint was also a bad pass so nothing went wrong but CC decision making because the player is sagging off her defender and playing the paint before CC even passed the ball. That is totally her fault because the defender was waiting on the pass how can you not see that talking bout the pass was on the money? LMAO I'm commenting as I am watching your commentary and the like 4th pass in the paint to Aliya was a bad pass also. You have to gauge what the defender might do also you cant just pass it to someone and say oh that is a perfect pass when it actually isn't if the defender has great position or is in a position where they can disrupt the the passing lane. Don't make another video like this please this was horrible.🤣😂

    6:50 - are the type of turnovers that happen where you just have to give credit to the defender. Caitlin put the ball in the perfect spot and it's possible that the poster didn't do a good enough job at boxing out her defender, but I lean more in the direction of the defender doing an impressive job at reading and anticipating the pass, in which case technically Caitlin tipped off her pass which is what allowed to defender to make such good anticipation to come around and get her hand on the ball. I don't necessarily flaw the receiver as she wants to catch that pass in rhythm with her momentum towards the basket to keep the defenders off balance as opposed to quickly cutting off the pass. This one is certainly arguable... it's difficult to wonder if it's on the receiver for allowing her defender to come around her and get a hand on the ball. I tend to think it was a quick heads up play by the defender. However the receiver at the same time had her defender boxed just prior to the pass, so it's not necessarily on Caitlin to not tip off her pass as the receiver has her defender boxed out, at which point the receiver relaxes on the box in order to catch the pass with momentum to the hoop, but this in turn allowed the defender a chance to reach around and get her hand on the ball? Either way... when it comes to the stat sheet this is generally one that you charge to the passer, but It's not a bad or sloppy turn over. The defender made a great play and potentially a risky play because if she's not able to get her hand on the ball she's giving away a layup.
    i would be interested to see if there are other turn overs in this realm in other games. I could see this being the type of turnover that's difficult to initially recognize for Caitlin that can be reduced with more experience and a stronger feel if it's recurring. In college a defender may be more inclined to stay with and behind the receiver as opposed to trying to anticipate the pass and go for the steal There tends to be a lot more fundamental basketball at the college level. Less athleticism, less risk. This maybe the type of pass that through experience Caitlin will learn of more efficient placement of the pass in this scenario even though at face value it doesn't appear as though she did anything wrong.

  • @dinglbarry1275
    @dinglbarry1275 3 місяці тому

    4:28 - that was a turnover - if you play it in slow motion you'll see that the defender impressively gets her hand on the ball which is what disrupts the catch.
    Excellent analysis i agree with most of it, I tend to just comment on the instances where I think it qualifies as a turnover.

    Yes some great analysis but also a lot of bias. Even when Caitlin makes bad passes you seem 1. Hesistant to say so and 2. You seem to most times want to lay blame on her teammate being in the wrong position. If Caitlin passes the ball to a teammate who is in a disadvantageous position then that is her fault. That is the job of a point guard to read in the moment what plays and passes can work

    This league has a lot of turnovers, every game it seems. It's not just CC it's just that they have a lot of turnovers. And I think it's because they tend to have weak hand strength. They just can't hold onto the ball. A fast pass will just bounce out of their hands, or a weak bump will knock it out.

      @@unarepublic I don't know if anyone has brought it up concerning college basketball, but the reason anyone has been bringing it up is because Caitlin Clark is a high profile, controversial player. People who hate her (for "reasons"??) love to point out how she has many turnovers.
      My point is that she's not the only one, and that a significant number of her turnovers, or of anyone's for that matter, are because the receiver simply drops or loses the ball, not because it's a poor pass.
      The reason no one mentions college players is because none of them are a lightning rod of controversy, like Clark is. It's the haters who mention it, by the way. And recently I've been observing to see if it's really just her, but it's not.
