- Musician Reacts to We Don't Talk About Bruno from Disney's Encanto.
Lin Manuel-Miranda strikes again with another amazing song in an animated Disney film. The latin vibe in this song, inspired by the location in Columbia the film is based in, definitely brings a flavour to this film that more Disney films could benefit from.
I thoroughly enjoyed reacting to this song, so do let me know if there are any other videos/songs I should react to in the comments section below!
DISCLAIMER: I do not own the rights to the video or music from "We Don't Talk About Bruno" as this is owned by Disney and the video was taken from DisneyMusicVEVO. The use of this video was used for entertainment purposes.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video! 😊 Comment down below what songs I should react to next!
You're the first reaction who reacted to one of my favorite parts of this song "Sorry ma Vida go ohnnnn". I LOVE that part... I also like the openness in "Umbrella"
These are some of my favorite parts as well! His voice is brilliant.
I've watched so many reaction videos to this song and you're the only one who actually noticed and pointed out that the last 'verse' is actually all of the verses layered together. Some people said there were only 2 melodies in this part, and I was in disbelief that they weren't hearing all of them. Thank you for saying it!
That’s crazy! That was the first thing I noticed! 😂 Such clever writing and it sounds amazing 😍 Thank you for your lovely comment! 😁
not some of the ppl i watched. but those ones also talking about how its a madigral
I like the ending because it makes you feel like you were just slapped in the face. It’s almost like it just gives you a serving of stress that just fits into the movie.
Yeah having a more abrupt ending helps it fit back into the main story more seamlessly, I have to agree with you there 😊
The most interesting thing about this song is the type of song it is. As anyone that has watched this movie knows, the family's name is Madrigal. What most people don't know is that this song is a "madrigal", which is a layering of different melodies within the same song, as they do at near the end of the song. It's a play on words without having to speak the words. That is MASTER CLASS Lin Manuel Miranda! Also, great reaction adding in your obvious high level knowledge of music!
"My deepest and most sincere apologies" made me LOL
😂😂😂
The movie is based in Colombia 🇨🇴. I suggest you also do a reaction video on the Family Madrigal song and then enjoy the movie 😉
Thank you for your comment! 😊 Before filming I knew it was filmed in Colombia, but for some reason I kept saying Cuba! 🙄😂 Then of course when editing I spelt it wrong 😑 And ooo yes I will react to that song, thank you! 😊
@@JamaalXMusic Well, Lin Manuel said this specific song has a Cuban music base, specifically the traditional Cuban Son Montuno style, so you were on the right track! Colombian movie, Cuban melody👍🏾
Haha this is the most polite “bro do your research” comment ;)
@@JamaalXMusic I do that alot. I say the wrong things and immediately be like ‘why did I say that’ or ‘stop saying that. I mean this’
Your aggy
I don’t know if your noticed this but Camilo changes his part close to the end, he pitches up the part where he says ‘ he sees your dreams and feasts on your screams’
Ooo no I have not noticed that! I will have to give it another listen to try and spot it!
@@JamaalXMusic the time stamp is 3:15 - 3:18 (In the song not this specific video) Tell me when you find it!
I love that part!
@@coraversor5023 thanks
A small touch that I don't see many people comment on - at the end of the "madrigal" part of the song, Isabella changes her line from her verse earlier to "and I'm fine, and I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fii-i-iine", which is a bit of subtle foreshadowing to her story later.
This needs more upvotes and for him to see it.
One of my favorite things about LMM is how steeped he is in so many different genres and how beautifully he blends classic musical theater with hip hop and Latin music - that layering moment is part of such an awesome musical theater tradition going back to One Day More in Les Mis, The Music Man, West Side Story, and even back to Gilbert and Sullivan. It's always been my favorite musical theater trope and I can never get enough of how he takes that tradition and turns it into something so catchy and uniquely him!
Such brilliant knowledge of musical theatre here! 👏🏾👏🏾 He really is brilliant, I’m so glad he got to work with Disney again 😊
As a matter of fact, ColUmbia with a "u" is in Canada, the country you might be referring is ColOmbia with an "o" which is located in South America, quite different from Cuba, another country.
Thank you so much for pointing that out! The fact that I made the mistake when filming the video in the first place just shows it was a screwing up day 😑
One of the popular songs of Encanto- but really they are all popular hahahah 😆 the whole soundtrack is epic!!!
That is definitely true; this is best Disney soundtrack in years!
Totally agree. In fact I think it's the first Disney soundtrack that I've listened to the whole of it including all the instrumental ones multiple times and genuinely enjoy the the instrumental ones very often just as much as the singing ones. Then again it helps if you love Latin American music already. But yeah just love it.
Lol forward to seeing your reactions to the rest of the songs.
Your pure musician squeak and replaying that chord on the piano got the like from me. xD I can Identify so much!
Hahaha thank you! 😂Clearly I can't just listen to music, I have to eccentrically react to everything!
@@JamaalXMusic
Thats what I love to see! Especially in another musician. Keep doing you man! (3
I love this movie a lot my daughter loves it too. This song is my favorite and then Surface Pressure. We don’t talk about Bruno actually passed Let it go from Frozen thank god lol. Camilo and Dolores are my favorite parts in this song. Camilo where he shape shifts into “Bruno” and then Dolores part with the little quiet rap.
Holy moly, you are so good at reacting to this!
Thank you so much! 😁
No changes to the melodic lines until the end of the verse. They are all exactly as they were sung earlier. Amazing.
Why hasn't Lin contacted you to work on a project yet? I don't have Instagram or Twitter, but somebody get these reactions to him so he can know.
The way you can pick up on the keys and play it by ear like nothing...BRILLIANT.
Aww you’re too kind!! 😊 Thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!
You just earned a subscriber....love this ......you express music the way it should be
Love your review! I am in here just virtually high fiving you! Especially when you made the Hamilton connection with the layering of the vocals. You’re HILARIOUS and clearly a talented musician. You’re ear is, just wow.
Oh thank you so much! 🥰🥰 I hope I was able to provide you with some entertainment with my videos 😊 Hope to see you again in the comments in the future!
fun fact the end part where everyone singing there own verses at the same time is called a madrigal.
Right off the bat I love your vibe, liked and subscribed
Greeting from Colombia 🕺🏻💃
Hello! 😃 Thank you for watching the video! And so sorry for misspelling your country’s name 😩
Oh wow, you got the Piano right away. I'm impressed.
My favorite reaction😊its very obvious that you are a good musician and singer
😄 excellent film about Colombia 🇨🇴 excellent message about family and humanity. Thank you for your reaction!, the places are beautiful in a beautiful country to visit ❤️🩹😊🌼🌅🎉
The true reaction i ever see so far. You have one more sub : )
Thank you so much! 😊
Excellent video and insight, keep up the great work.
Thank you, I will!! 😊
Man I love your attitude
I definitely subscribed and expect to see for your future reactions
Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
Thank you so much! 🥰 More reactions are coming, I promise! 😊 I’d love to visit Chile someday!
You are the first review I’ve watched to mention the similarities to nonstop. They’re so similar!
The layering of the verses works so well here! So glad he chose to write them in 😊
It also reminds me of "96000" from In the Heights, his other Broadway musical.
This song is fire.
It really is!! Like, undoubtedly!
Yes… Lin loves a Madrigal
I enjoyed learning ftom you. Subscribed🙂
I love youuuur reaction ... I'm Colombiana... 😎😍😍😍
I loved this review new subbie 🙋🏾♀️
HEY WE DONT TALK ABOUT BRUNOOOO SHHHHHHH / I talked about Bruno😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I can understand that the rhythm could be misleading. It’s called montuno, with a heavy influence from Caribbean rhythm, especially from Cuba, that traveled to coastal towns along Central and South America, including Colombia.
musicians give the best comment, ncie reaction!!!!!
I’d like to think so! 😂 Thank you so much! 😊😊
Handsome! Greetings from Colombia
Oh, me encantó, nueva sub
Thank you for the sub! 😊
Do you relise that bruno is moving in backround when dolores singing?
Ooo I didn’t!!
It's ok if you reacting with your piano/keyboard
Thank you 😊 I think I’ll have it in frame for the next video 😁
Good video!
Thank you so much! 😊
The song ends on a CLIFFHANGER...
I like where you head is at! However, musically the end chord is the root of the key, so because the harmony is resolved it doesn’t feel like we’re in suspense or anything; it just feels like the song ends more abruptly than I’d anticipated 🤷🏾♂️
nice reaction
Very good
i always thought the country was Columbia but now i know
Please do a reaction video of Voice Play singing We Don't Talk About Bruno.
You are ALL OVER this stuff! With a Composer - Arranger - Producers 'ear'? Do you do any of that yourself?
What’s the intro song? Sounds so nice :)
YOU SHOULD REACT TO THIS SONG IN SPANISH¡
I will definitely look into this! 😊
@@JamaalXMusic yeah! It's called no se habla de Bruno, and it's really good!!
I get that its the composers ”thing” but this is a common style of how to sing in this culture, its not his, he just got famous for doing it
Se escribe COLOMBIA,NO TENEMOS NADA QUE VER CON COLUMBIA.
I know, I'm sorry! 😩I only realised afterwards!
The song is the best so shake the booty!
He says Cuba...Proceeds to correct COLUMBIA. omg
Trust me, I’m just as disappointed as you are 🙄😂
ColOmbia
Encanto is not based on Cuban culture, it is based on colombian culture. They are very different countries.
Ok?
They have a lot tosay
Oh my friend you need geography lessons , ColOmbia
Not Cuba, not Columbia! Colombia!!
I know! How I made 2 mistakes that quickly I’ll never know 🙄 I promise the rest of the video is good! 😂
Columbia not /is Colombia.
A stupid mistake I didn’t notice until it was too late 😩
he created a madigral
TOO MUCH INTERRUPTIONS
Thank you for your comment 😊 Unfortunately, with reaction videos there has to be some time to discuss what I’ve heard/watched, so are there are going to be pauses 😕 I understand if they were too frequent though and I’ll take that on board for the future 😊
Honestly, I don't think there were too many interruptions, no more than most other reaction videos... and that's the whole point of why you're doing it, isn't it? To react to it? As long as you rewind slightly so you don't miss important bits of the song, far better that than talking OVER the song and missing bits, which drives me crazy because half the time the question they're asking/confusion they're feeling is answered/explained in the bit they missed because they were talking over it!!
