This segment was originally to be shown on the Seven Network during their coverage of the opening round of the 1991 season from Sandown. However, due to coverage of the First Gulf War breaking into normal programming, approximately 30 minutes was trimmed from the start of the Sandown coverage. This segment was dropped, and was then shown as part of the coverage of the second round from Symmons Plains - notice the little piece tacked onto the end about how the "new team" went at Sandown.
@@jackmackay2304 you sir are an idiot Peter Brock is still regarded as one of the greatest Australian drivers of all time and is ranked the 2nd best touring car driver in the world of all time other highlights include 3 times ATCC 9 times Sandown 500 winner 10 times Bathurst winner
If he was...he would of made it into F1...so he obviously wasnt. He only won if he had the fastest car and good team...Tony Longhurst was a better driver than the hyped up Brock...Brock knew how to market himself though...ill give h8m that.
The wheels are the same, but they ran a cover over the front ones to trap more brake heat, and help keep the temperature of the front tyres up...Perkins Engineering - (which these cars were) - started doing this in 1988.
Hey, can anyone tell me what's with the top radiator hose in the engine bay of the VN at 2.39? The hose is split into two pieces and has some kind of canister in the middle. Is this a method of bleeding the cooling system or something? Appreciate any input
I think what Mitchell was trying to say was he was a racer first, Holden fan second. It's tru he raced heaps of cars and his first race cars were not Holden's nor his last, but he did do roughly 20 years of racing in Holden's. That counts for something.
No v8 but there was a twin turbo 6 cylinder Carlton, which lotus had a hand in. Would have been more interesting than the dinosaur v8 Australia hard a hard on for.
Wade Dixon. Australians grew up on a diet of tough sixes and v8s, in the 40s and 50 60s we were subjected to wheezing pommie shitheaps like vanguards ford prefects Austin’s Morris, all piles of complete crap. Your beloved twin turbo Carlton wouldn’t have lasted five laps of Bathurst before it blew its British guts down Conrod.
I had a VK Calais Director. The vehicle was stolen at Macquarie Shopping Centre. I bought a 1992 VP GTS. It has cost me over $100,000.00 dollars to make it as good as the VK Calais Director. Unfortunately performance workshops were no longer honest.
MWVideo AU. If you were a driver from 1960 to 1998, you had lots and lots of fun. The point that I am making is that we have been wrotted by the UN. All of our manufacturing has been taken off shore we now own nothing. The V8 Super Cars a re a joke and it is no longer a sport.

I am amazed how evil some people are. I posted a dislike of the V8 Super Cars because I do not consider the series as being Australian and it is certainly not sporting. As a nation we have been attacked by traitors of the New World Order. The person deleted what I posted (so much for freedom of speech) and attacked me personally. I would like to know who this coward non Australian is. He certainly is a coward. Hides behind the UN dictatorship.
Perkins was a very good driver and a great engineer. I don't think he got the credit he really deserved.

How do you have such knowledge, it's golden.
Best of the best, Brocky and Larry joining forces in the almighty VN Group A. Just a shame they couldn't pull of another Bathurst.
i grew up watching brocky, he was my hero. RIP brock
The best driver in the world rip 💯❤️

Brock did drive off the road lots of times in Europe - and left with a poor record.

Interesting to see the blipper on the gear stick to eliminate heel and toe right at the end of the video.
From memory , it’s Bathurst debut : Brock didn’t get off the start line . Diff / axle failure. ???
What is the go with a different front wheel on the VN?
Is it a cover or a HDT Aero type wheel?

What is the artist music used in the opening music and song called? Heard it so many times watching old races but never found out what it was called.
Two tribes by Thompson Twins, I think.

brocky was holden through and through, only drove other brands because he got dumped by holden and had no money. he always said he loved holdens
He did put his name on a Lada after all...
He said he was a Holden man and so was his dad, to the point where his dad wouldn't let anyone park a Ford in his driveway ;)
