Then people applied that label to other franchises as a joke, leading to the meme getting set-off a long time ago. Persona has been more popular than Shin Megami Tensei, despite the fact Persona is actually a spinoff series of games of Shin Megami Tensei. Since pretty much every protagonist of Persona has their assigned Arcana as The Fool and can house multiple Personas when everyone else who can summon a Persona can only have 1, it's fair to assume The Fool Arcana is what grants the protagonists this power. Also, there happens to be a blue butterfly that seems to keep finding it's way to where the protagonists of Persona are at, so maybe that means something too.
