INFO: Toon Disney (and its Children's programming block, Jetix), was the cartoon-based spin-off of the Disney Channel that ran from 1998 to 2009. It had a very similar format to other cartoon channels at the time, such as Discovery Kids, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon. It originally launched as Disney Channel's 15th anniversary celebration in 1998. In February of 2009, Disney would rebrand the Toon Disney channel to Disney XD, and the remaining blocks would either keep to XD or be migrated to Disney Channel and Disney Cinemagic (in the EU) over the course of 2 years, with the final channels being shut down in October of 2011.
@@strawberrycat. 2005 is part of the mid 2000s yes, but to be fair it was still dominated by the pure Millenial culture years and has much more in common with the very late 90s (98/99) and early 2000s than it does with the Fall of 2006-2009, which were pretty much the seeds and roots of early Gen Z culture and the 2010s. If I remember correctly, 2005 was the last year for Cartoon Network and Nickelodean to still show their classic 90s cartoons before they were completely taken off the air by December of 2006 and went extinct. The 2005/2006 school year was the last one to have Pluto as a planet, and I believe it was also the last year to have VHSs as well as the last remains of the Web 1.0 era. You can easily tell that 2006 was the the switch that changed everything.
@@RockNRollSurf I know it was Millennial, I never said it wasn't. I easily heavily agree with that. I wouldn't look at it and see it as even remotely Gen Z. The only things I think would be Z about 05 are shows like Go Diego Go or anything else along that demographic. But I can't take people who call anything 2004+ early 00s seriously. I've seen people call 2008 and even 2010 early 00s... And I don't like when people call the early 00s the 90s or over accentuate some similarities it has to the late 90s. No one ever does that other decades. A lot of people can see the similarities the early 90s had with the late 80s but it's only ever appreciated as being the early 90s. Why can't the early 00s simply be held on it's own? Same with the mid 00s. No one says the mid 90s or mid 80s was like the early part of their decade. Why do people stretch the 90s and early 00s so dang much? I've seen someone born 2000 try to stretch the early 00s to 2006 and that an easy heck no. 2006 didn't look like the early 2000s and 1996 didn't look like the early 90s. And I don't think the 'X5 years are like the early years either. 2005 wasn't much like the overall early 00s at all, nor was 1995 like the overall early 90s. If I saw fashion, tech, a videogame, a show or movie made 2005, etc. I wouldn't mistake it for the 90s or or early 2000s. It's one thing to acknowledge minimal traces or old tech that was still used or shows finishing, I can agree with that. But to me to say a year was like another time you'd have to easily mistake it for that time. If I was all of a sudden transported to 2005 I wouldn't mistake it for the 90s or the early 2000s. A person doesn't even have to remember a decade from beginning to end to know that. I don't remember the 90s from start to finish but the early 90s and late 90s were night and day different from each other, I can easily see that. Someone tried stretching not just the *late* 90s but the *mid* 90s all the way to 2004... They were born '97.... it's funny how the only people to do that weren't a kid, teen or adult not at one point in time of the 90s. It's literally only the people who were babies at the end of it. Or early 00s babies who say they are somehow "90s influenced." The 00s is the decade of transition and having started school before the decade even started I wouldn't mistake the early 00s, mid 00s and late 00s for each other. Just like the only people who I've seen stretch the early 2000s to 2006 or 2007 were literally an 00 baby and the other an 02 baby. And not only that but they tried stretching the switch/transition: the rise and usage of smartphones, tablets, wifi etc. all the way to 2015, which is an obvious lie. Now some people can be daft and not notice or care to differentiate but a lot of it just sounds like wishful thinking from people who didn't experience a certain time...
Same here. Believe it or not, Toon Disney helped me whenever I was upset when I was younger. Might sound stupid but it really did help me look forward. I felt springy and summery(if it's even a word)watching it lol.
The only show I ever watched in there was Pepper. Although that show came out in 1997, I started watching it in October 2006. The first episode I watched was when she gets some pimple cream for her yearbook photo. She's my favorite cartoon redhead and I still love her.
The Mini Swirlz commercial was also on a DVD-R containing the Nick Jr. on Nickelodeon block airing of Max and Ruby alongside other Nickelodeon/Nick Jr. content
