Islam has introduced Monotheism, It emphasizes the belief in one God, Allah (swt) which promotes unity and equality among people regardless of their backgrounds.
Islam promotes strong family ties and values, including respect for parents, care for children and relatives, and the importance of marriage and maintaining healthy relationships.
Islam encourages charity and generosity towards others which helps alleviate poverty and support those in need.
Traditions abolished by Islam :
• Burying girl child alive.
• Isolating women during their mensuration.
• Widows are unfit for marriage
• Mistreatment of slaves
• Affairs outside marriage
• Gambling and alcohol
Explanation: Burying a girl child or sacrificing them was a practice in the ancient period. When Islam was introduced, this was totally forbidden and considered as a single. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said " A daughter is a means for her father to attain paradise, A wife completes half of the faith of her husband and a son finds paradise at the feet of his mother. "
You can look in any of the history of mankind, somewhere the women were treated badly. And our Messenger Rasoolallah (saw) says " Whoever is tested with daughters and treats them well, they will be their shield from hellfire ".
Women were isolated during their mensuration. There are many people in India who think periods are taboo still now. There are many films and short stories about the challenges faced by women having periods within her family. In some places, women are forced to be in an isolated place during their menses. And there is a long list of don'ts for them. While our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) used to recite the Holy book "Quran" lying on the lap of his wife Aisha (ra) while on her menses. And of course women can't perform salah (the five daily prayers) during the menses. In Islam, while even a sick person or a person in war can't leave their salah no matter what, but the only time a servant of Allah is entirely excused from praying and from even making up the missed prayer is when as a woman you suffer from all the difficulties that come with mensuration. Let me tell you something, your boss doesn't care if you come late to work, because you were suffering with cramps in the morning. Your children don't demand any less on those days of weakness and tiredness. Your husband doesn't have any more patience with your mood swings when sadness or anger overwhelms you for no reason. So Allah, the most merciful, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem removes his obligations on you because no one else will. He gives you a break when no one else will.
Widows were unfit for marriage in the ancient period of time. There was a practice called sati in Traditional Hinduism, it refers to the ritual suicide of women especially widows following the husband's death. It is by throwing herself at the top of the burning blaze of her husband's funeral. Islam completely forbids it. Widows can remarry in Islam. The Prophet (saw) said, "the one who looks after and works for a widow and for a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah's cause or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night." Khadijah (ra) was the first wife of the Prophet (saw) and she was also a widow. When they were married the Prophet Muhammad (saw) was 25 years old and Khadijah (ra) was 40.
Slaves were often whipped, branded or cruelly mistreated. Their owners would also kill them for any reason and would face no punishment. The Quran does not explicitly condemn slavery or attempt to abolish it. It recommends freeing slaves, especially believing slaves. Bilal ibn Rabah was a black man and was a slave of a Quraish man. He was one of the earliest who rushed to the Prophet Muhamad (saw) to embrace Islam. Yet he was the first person to give Azan (the prayer call) in the history. He was chosen by Muhammad (saw). Bilal (ra) was among the Sahabah (companions) promised Paradise in the world.
One of the common threads throughout Islam is the principle of equality. Islam emphasizes that in the eyes of Allah (swt) all people are equal, even though they are most not all identical to one another. There are differences in appearances, wealth, ambitions, ability and so on and so forth. But when it comes to salah (the five daily prayers) each and every one of them should stand in one line, shoulder to shoulder without any differences. Extra marital affairs are prohibited in Islam. Our Prophet Muhammad (saw) said " when adultery becomes widespread, diseases that were previously unknown to mankind will appear. " And see what happens nowadays, HIV, STD etc.. diseases spread through adultery.
Islam prohibits Gambling and Alcohol. Consequences of problem gambling can include financial losses, bankruptcy, losing jobs, homelessness, mental health conditions and the breakdown of personal relationships and sometimes it can even lead to suicide.
Overtime excessive alcohol use can lead to the development of chronic diseases and other serious problems including High blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, cancer of the breasts, mouth, throat, liver, rectum etc...
Hence the things Haram in Islam are Haram for a reason. You do that, you destroy yourself. Your mental health, your physical self.
Allah made them Haram to protect you, your soul, your heart. Just know that Allah loves you. He cares for you.
