My name is William Mulligan AKA The Everyday Stoic, I applied Stoicism in my life and went from being anxious and feeling like a victim to becoming a confident and happy man. I am 1/3 of the Mulligan Brothers and my goal is to inspire change through teaching Stoicism to the everyday person.
I will give you an easy, practical guide to understanding Stoicism and how to use it in your life.
On this channel I answer the questions of "What is Stoicism?", "Who was Marcus Aurelius?", "How to be a stoic?" or "How to practice stoicism in daily life?" Check out my channel to learn how to be happier, stronger and more confident.
Two thousand years ago, the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius wrote his personal thoughts in a journal now known as the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Many of these Stoic principles have be learned from the Meditations but also from Epictetus, Seneca, Zeno and many more of the Ancient Stoic philosophers.
I get asked a lot what
    1. Stoic books to read
    2. if you can be religious and Stoic
    3. can woman/girls be stoic
    4. is stoicism bad
    5. is stoicism toxic
    6. can stoicism help anxiety or depression
    1. Enchiridion of Epictetus, meditations of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca letters on ethics
    2. You can be religious and Stoic
    3. Woman/girls can be stoic
    4. Stoicism is not bad. Vice alone is bad.
    5. Stoicism understood correctly is not toxic
    6. Stoicism can help depression and anxiety.

When people are open to other views and paths - it shows how centered they are in thier own world and beliefs. This is true peace. I always enjoy his views and he opens up with the dialog explaining how he approaches life & others views. Imagine a world where we all have this compassion. He is so kind to share so much of himself with the world. True strength.

42:07 he's on point with my understanding of stoicism as in it can only be applied to material forms but when u have started mastering the material it becomes much easier n more acceptable to start getting involved into the spiritual life but u can't consider nor practice any spiritual teaching correctly unless u know how to adapt completely new aspects of what we call life.

Yes I got a little lost in the memory of that example but that’s what beauty does, and that is the kind of Beauty I see in your Bravery. Minus the mushy stuff lol that was indigenous to that situation and cycle of life and particular wisdom I needed to become aware of. So thank you for that opportunity to review and gain the knowledge I missed while it was happening. Missed isn’t the best word for it. Allowing me to understand it in a different way is more accurate.
    So thank you.

To dream can be really danger. It happens for example only one time to me: I woke up thinking I just had dreamed. A second later I woke up thinking I just dreamed about waking up from the dream that I dreamed. The third time I woke up I started crying, afraid not knowing either I am still dreaming or I am really awake. Only when I tasted my tears and felt my pain I realized I was awake. That was a hell and it feels as it was a very long journey.
So I do not like dreams at all..

Laughter I am told is healthy to have in your life...do you have laughter? how often is healthy to laugh naturally would you say?

    • @Everydaystoic
      @Everydaystoic  2 місяці тому

Laughter is very healthy, it is one of life’s greatest joys.
The last time I laughed like that was this weekend. I cooked dinner for my friend.
He is a very interesting a funny man.
I was cooking aglio e olio and he was predicting the future of VR technology.
He wants to fully bend into it and be like the people from ‘UP’.
I remember once in an English exam.
We had to do an improv scene from an inspector call. My line was “do you want a tea” the guy doing it with me replied “yes, 7 sugars but don’t stir it, I don’t like it sweet” well when I was 15 this line had me laughing uncontrollably. We probably failed that exam.
