It works because the game treats broken module as empty and thus there is a massive hole in a mantlet where overpressure goes through and kills the crew, doesn't it?
Thats only a thing for spall liners and fuel tanks. The barrel is still there and can still be hit. The problem is that all the tanks in the game have tiny armor gaps all over. Overpressure activates when an HE fragment hits an internal module, and the gunbreach counts as an internal module. The tiny gap between the armor and the gunbreach allows the fragments to hit it, activating overpressure and killing them. This is why overpressure gives such silly kills like a fragment from arty turning ur engine yellow but your entire crew dies, it only takes the 1 fragment to overpressure.
The interaction with the PT-76 was the most adorable thing ever!!! First the headpats and you driving off, only for them to then follow and help shoot at the TOG! That was just toooo cutie lol
This explains what happened in my last game. I got into a brawl with the king tiger, and in a split second, my heatfs shell killed the entire crew with a shot right on the barrel. But the replay showed an overpressure mechanic 😮

@@spicygoomba4048 Most of the tanks would be loading either AP or APHE ammunition which would not have very much explosive filler inside it. I suspect that the shell penetrate the barrel and the HE filler explode inside the barrel nuking the crew.
Yeah, it seems like the shell explodes against the breech and damages it, being an internal module, the game thinks the explosion broke the armour and counts it as overpressure
This still works 6 months later, too, and it’s not just jumbo Shermans that can do it, any tank that can fire the M48 HE round can do this and so far only one tank type I’ve tested has resisted it, the Panzer 4 short 75s

This might actually explain how I killed a Jagdtiger with HE from a T-34-100 when he "get down Mr. President'd" for a Nashorn. Figured I was screwed as the HE flew through the air and the Jagdtiger blew up to my utter bewilderment.
Pretty sure this is a bug, introduced when they changed the armor model to ignore ‘destroyed’ modules. This was to fix fuel tanks and engines tanking shot after shot but in a typical Gaijin monkey-paw half arsed fix, it made it so that HE detonating against a ‘destroyed’ model would overpressure the crew, as if the vehicle was open topped. Let’s see how long it takes them to patch it, and introduce and even worse issue.
Dammit. I knew this fun secret wouldn't last forever. This has happened since the overpressure modeling change where it checks if an internal component is damaged and at some threshold it considers the explosion now inside the tank as well or something. If you can figure out a way to make HE initial damage model hit certain objects that are considered 'inside' the tank, then the explosion propagates damage inside the tank as well.

There must be a nano-meter sized hole between the mantlet and the damaged gun model that lets it overpressure ANY tank, kinda like the hole the IS2 had in its UFP.
Large caliber HE shells fired below the enemy barrel or around the lower mantlet has done the same thing in the past. Maybe it's not a bug, but just a skillful shot that takes advantage of the lack of armor on the top surface of most tanks.
75mm of HE doesn't have anywhere near enough pressure to overpressure a heavy tank like the King Tiger. If you go into the protection analysis, 75mm of HE won't do anything to the top of the turret or hull, except maybe damaging a machine gun or optic.
That only works when your shell has around 2 or more mm than the roof armor of enemy vehicles. Every closed top vehicle Oddbawz killed with HE had more then 10 mm of pen, so its a bug or something
Probably not an exploit, you're sending red shot shrapnel down the barrel into the breech thats presumably being loaded with a round of ammunition right as you shoot it
Hey Odd, I tried this Idea with both the TOW & the HOT as well as the Automaticrocketpzr with it being 3 out of 10 on T-52,55 & 10 model of Russian tanks. the Missiles were less effective than the RPGs. They were 6 out of 10 on average.
saw something similar in another video. I believe the mechanic behind this is a false valuation in the code of the game, where it senses you shot a weakly armored part and because of that completly ignores the type of vehicle and just overpressures. You should try it with tracks maybe too, if the HE shell has more pen, it could work.
Its unreal, but this is my second time making an appearance in your videos, the first time was with the firefly in the battlepass bf109 video, this time I was flying the a6m6 in the last video.
I was wondering about this. A few days ago I got shot directly down the barrel with HEAT FS. It hit my muzzle, knocked out my gun then the fragments traveled down the entire length of the barrel, through the breach, and killed my crew.
I have to agree with the 75mm suddenly pinning when it normally doesn’t. I was playing the Chaffee at 5.3 and was surviving and thriving way more than I should have. Since there isn’t a good USA light tank between 3.7 and 5.7. The Chaffee is it. But really suffers above 5.3.
Doing this before it gets patched because we all know it will because a "UA-camr" is bringing it up but if it was a normal player they will simply ignore it.
Tbh it makes a little sense. The spot where the mantlet meets the barrel isnt sealed so the pressure from the explosion could theoretically travel through there and overpressure the interior. Is it likely? No. In fact, I'd say the opposite. Itll take the path of least resistance aka literally anywhere other than into that tiny sliver of space.
I accidentally found this out about a week or two ago in the T34 100, it works with shells using explosive filler sometimes as well since i was using the APHE and one shell to a jagdtigers barrel stopped against the mantlet but still killed the guy
Odd you can overpressure the T-34-85 D5T with german long 50mm HE by shooting the upper part of the front plate near the roof/neck. Gaijin never fixed the holes in the mantlet and breech cover

I believe the mechanic behind this is a false valuation in the code of the game, where it senses you shot a weakly armored part and because of that completly ignores the type of vehicle and just overpressures. You should try it with tracks maybe too, if the HE shell has more pen, it could work.
The first tiger you got with the HE was also the panther you traded with a few minutes earlier
Its unreal, but this is my second time making an appearance in your videos, the first time was with the firefly in the battlepass bf109 video, this time I was flying the a6m6 in the last video.
I've got my cup Yorkshire tea to hand, oh wait different youtuber.
And man that PT i wish i had more players like that
thats explains why my kv1e was being so easy to kill with mantlet shots
I was wondering about this. A few days ago I got shot directly down the barrel with HEAT FS. It hit my muzzle, knocked out my gun then the fragments traveled down the entire length of the barrel, through the breach, and killed my crew.
Love you Bawz!!❤❤❤❤
I am so glad I chose to grind USA at the end of last year. Now with this trick Jumbo 75 will be even more fun that it already is!
Hellcat? But, yeah, they could at least make Chaffee 3rd rank like in Italy/Japan
*Escorting enemy nukes* : 😎
*shooting down enemy nukes* : unsavory hombres at best
So that explains it.
I was driving in a Maus when I got hit by a HEAT-FS right in my secondary 75mm gun overpressuring my entire crew.
Doing this before it gets patched because we all know it will because a "UA-camr" is bringing it up but if it was a normal player they will simply ignore it.
Play the kv220 or bmd4 (i need the kv220 to go up in price)
Tbh it makes a little sense.
The spot where the mantlet meets the barrel isnt sealed so the pressure from the explosion could theoretically travel through there and overpressure the interior. Is it likely? No. In fact, I'd say the opposite. Itll take the path of least resistance aka literally anywhere other than into that tiny sliver of space.
Not every difficult and dangerous thing is suitable for training, but only that which is conducive to success in achieving the object of our effort.
I accidentally found this out about a week or two ago in the T34 100, it works with shells using explosive filler sometimes as well since i was using the APHE and one shell to a jagdtigers barrel stopped against the mantlet but still killed the guy
And I already wondered how an IS-1 was able to HE overpressure me by shooting my mantlet in a King Tiger..
I guess this explains it..
You always make me laugh, Odd; Noe if only I could hit a barrel!
Odd you can overpressure the T-34-85 D5T with german long 50mm HE by shooting the upper part of the front plate near the roof/neck. Gaijin never fixed the holes in the mantlet and breech cover
But you cant do shit to it with swedish 75mm. I tired many times, but its like a gacha roll every time.
I seen the old photo of this tank in Germany not long ago.
I think it's in bovington tank museum now.
How is it a one-shot if it requires you to fire a round to break their barrel first?
Could you do that in top tier? Imagine ez god modes.
Thank you Oddbawz, going to have some fun now making King Tigers suffer, almost guarantee to see 3 a match now with these BR changes
I can't remember a time when I didn't see a king tiger in my jumbo
@@owllegostopmotion7633 at 5.3 I use to see 1 every 3 or 4 games from my experience, I would see more Jagpanthers than anything which are just as annoying
But now I rarely see those, just hordes of Tiger 2 tanks 😅
Do you have to enable the new crew voices? I never noticed them.
