100 Year Old Building Restoration In A Ghost Town

- Hey guys! This week I revisit one of my first projects up at Cerro Gordo - the original bunkhouse. The building was built in 1913 and is home to many ghost stories up here, including my one and only ghost story.
Thank you all so much for the support and following along with this town!

Hello everyone! Thank you much for checking out the video! What type of videos do you like best? Mine exploration, building renovations, hikes?, history?, let me know! Also, if you haven't watched my 11 month update, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/zFygGNxmnpA/v-deo.html
Is that the building with a haunted room on the right??
I'm certain you can get the Skoolie community to help you. By working side by side with you or just help clean up areas. I know that many Skoolie owners built their own interiors and did major work from Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing, and creating their own Solar Power setups.
If you wanted to, maybe a Trade school in the area would be interested in furthering their students learning experience, by utilizing the program they are in, on your property. and maybe the school would pay you to allowing these students to work in real world experience.
Just a thought.
What a cool life.
i love them all but the outdoor hikes, exploration, and scenery is always the highlight for me
Let’s do more searches under buildings and stuff
ghost who turns lights on seems more friendly than one who turns the lights off
Lmao😂
My dead dad is definitely turning off lights somewhere. lol

Brent: I really want this to be a place where families can come and be comfortable.
Also Brent: I don’t go there at night. It’s definitely haunted.
Hahahahahaha
Have you heard about those people who like to go around and stay in old haunted hotels?
Sam & Colby 💯🔥
Haunted like the Stanley Hotel in Colorado???? I want a video on fast forward of the Hotel getting built. Hire Skoolie builders. Seriously, hire people who have done bus builds and van builds. They know how to build!
Plot twist, every murder in the town happened in the bunkhouse.
The story about your grandpa was fascinating. It's obvious that he planted a seed in the back of your mind, even as you went into banking as an adult. I'm sure he would have been proud of the work you're doing now.
"I added a padlock which only I had the key to"
Okay that answers it. You're being haunted by the Lockpicking Lawyer
the one and only realistic explanation
It could be Bosnian Bill
He's there to allert you to be more secured
I can't get enough of that lock picking lawyer.
the literal explanation
“This place is haunted and I don’t go at night because I feel threatened.... enjoy your stay!!”
@@shukracharya_ how?
That's why people stay half a night in the Vilisca Ax Murder House. It could make some money.
The dead cannot hurt the living ever. We the living on the other hand can. Spirits aren’t there to destroy. They’re there to guide and encourage the living to live on. No such thing as haunted. Haunted is a negative word used to sell movies.
@@markwestervelt9708 everything you just said is incorrect! The demons and the Lost Souls are the entities or energies that are part of what's called The Haunting. They are in a different dimension than we are. There are 10 dimensions that we have mathematically proven and all are in existence at the same time. That does not mean that each entity can go from one dimension to the other as it's supposed to be because there's a fault in the system. When you use the term spirit that just means an energy that can live within a certain dimension. There are spirits that live within the five dimensions of this universe in which Earth currently hangs in space in our solar system. But there are spirits who never come to this dimension. There are spirits which are holy and of good things and then there are spirits which are demonic and dark and evil and are of bad things. Energy by itself must have a positive charge or a negative charge at one time or another. You're so worried about what is said in the 20th century in on a movie or a TV that you are neglecting all of the data that came before 17th century human!

- "Yeah, so if the ghosts want one place to hangout I think that's okay. I still don't go to the bunkhouse at night"

Brett. I don't normally comment, but I've been compelled to today. I have been watching your show for 11 months now and every time you start your long monologues, I feel overwhelmed and yet at peace. I don't know if it is the quality of the words you use, the truth and conviction you hold, or just the purity and genuineness you seem to ooze. But I am soon flooded with tears and with little parts of myself I think I chose to forget for a long time. And for that I thank you. I wish you all the success, in all the ways you seem fit. Sending you lots of love and kindness from somewhere far away. Hope I get the pleasure of having a real conversation with you one day.

Fun fact for y’all fellow Watchers on this channel, the ghost adventures crew actually filmed an episode at cerro gordo.
Here we go! I look forward to this since I don't watch TV and this is my "weekly show" now!

This has become part of my weekend routine, Wandavision, NCIS and then most importantly this!

SAME! Never even been this excited for a show when I HAD tv lol Love watching his journey. (Plus, I live close and am fascinated by the history here. My great, great, great grandpa settled most of this area. I’ve always been so taken with the photos and stories we have from him) 🖤
Do videos go up at the same time and day weekly guys?
I swear ... the editing, the camera work, the music ... I feel like this is from the Planet Earth series, it’s THAT professional. You were made for this. (And all while rebuilding your town, exploring mines, taking care of your animals, and with little WiFi. THAT’S impressive, sir.) 👏👊🖤
Half the reason I'm here is the cinematography and music. I always leave these videos feeling more hopeful and inspired
I think he has a cutter
Im bot certain, but im guessing when hes ready to do another video he either edits/and uploads it at his lil shack there in the town below Gordo, or he has someone he sends it all too
He is amazing in what he does, totally agree!
Love it God Bless🙏
You should put motion activated cameras in the bunk house
Very true
Imagine just having a time loop of a week of the town. That would be crazy
And a live cam!
They wouldn't pickup anything other than the lights turning on. You need someone sensitive to "ghosts" or spirits to visit and spend some time in the rooms where you suspect things happening. If there is a presence, they will feel it, and if that presence is strong enough, they may even catch a glimpse of it. And no, I am not ranking about paid mystics or Hollywood charlatans, folks truly sensitive often don't charge, and feel such sensitivity is more of a curse than a blessing.

Hey Brent, a bit of advice, don't put anything in the rooms that you don't want destroyed. Once you have guests you'll notice they don't treat stuff they way you would... Speaking from experience here
Sad but very true
I'd like to think if people are going to the middle of nowhere to stay at an abandoned mining town they might have a little respect for the history of the place.
@@thirtythreeeyes8624 I agree, I can’t imagine your average joe going to visit this place. However, accidents happen and I wouldn’t leave shit around that you don’t want to get damaged. Just in case.

Good point, thank you! I've learned this from my hostel in Austin. However, I do hope people making the trek up enjoy and respect history!
I can't believe no film companies have reached out to you yet for a documentary. I wish I had more connections but maybe someone with money will contact you. This would make an awesome 2 hour doco or mini series.

@@elineblind348 of course he is, but he obviously needs more money and this would be one way to get it fast
I´m happy that this is his independent production. Imagine what Discovery Channel would do to this place and the story. Some overenthusiastic producers would drive Brent into poor obviously scripted stories like "the goats are missing and Brent only has 1 hour left before sunset. Then he looses the keys for his dirtbike finding it right under a rattlesnake and a bunch of skorpions"
I thought about that too, but think of how it would ruin the charm of Brett doing his own tours with the alpacas, and the cats . . .

If you only knew the evil that lurked around you would be running to God so you won’t ever see Hell and be tormented by those things.. sadly modern day false doctrine “Christianity” says you can just say a prayer to Jesus and now you are saved and born again but that’s not what the word of God says... you must repent, be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins and then seek God for the Holy Spirit... on the day He baptizes you with the Holy Spirit you will KNOW you are His and your whole life will change for the good. That will be the best day of your life and now you will look at celebrities and people who are rich monetarily and know they are poor and you are the one who is rich... not by your means but by becoming a child of God!! Just love your town . Here in Australia, we have something similar. About 250km west of Sydney, there's an old abandoned silver mining town called Yerranderrie. It's not as complete as Cerro Gordo but equally rich in history. A friend owns property about an hour away and we go up there 3 or 4 times a year it's just awesome, the more you look around the more you find. The hard work the early pioneers went through to establish this place is just mind blowing. We don't what hard work is. There isnt much about it on you tube but google or wikipedia should give you plenty of info about it. Don't forget. if you ever come to Australia look me up, I'd love to take you there. So the ghosts in the bunkhouse forced you out yet you expect people to sleep in there? 😂😂😂
I’d sleep in there!
There are a lot of people that are into that kind of thing!
@@mildredjeakins5435 I was probably the biggest skeptic to ever exist until 2009-2010 came along. It was the most miserable and terrifying year of my entire existence. I’ve never experienced anything since I moved out of that place, and I still don’t refer to them as “ghosts” because I genuinely don’t know what or who it was. All I know is that there are sometimes very strange and horrifying things that can happen, and even as a scientist I can’t even begin to come up with a plausible explanation for some of the things that happened. I also wouldn’t expect anyone to buy into these things unless they’ve lived it. Last, all of those ghost shows out there are mostly garbage in my opinion, and they give a bad name to people who have actually had these types of experiences.
@@WarrenAAndrews what happened?
@@WarrenAAndrews wow, sounds like a trip you’ll never forget!
Oh, son of a biscuit.

@Ghost Town Living whats up in the Loft of the BunkHouse? Lofts often hold their own secret lost treasures of their own.
Very impressive. It's nice to see someone that cares about history, and restoring it for those to enjoy for years to come. You should be very proud!
i wait for these every week lets go!! such great content!
Greetings from Paraguay Brent! You’re very inspiring. Keep at it
Put a motion activated camera in the haunted room! Could be the first person to get credible footage of a ghost!
That outro speech hit really close to home. I'm - hopefully - at the start of my own path to find real purpose again.
I KNOW, bit difficult to explain, that the presence in there is a good caretaker, someone who protects... whoever will be staying in the house will be welcome and sheltered.
If you were to advertise the bunk house as a haunted place to stay, you would 100% have no problems booking it up!! So many ghost lovers out there!!
It frustrates me that he seems to be in no hurry to get the place operating as a staycation. But the money could be used for the renovation and he could do so much with it.
@@GaryRoseTVandFilm I believe he stated that after the fire, they had no power for quite a while in the bunkhouse.
I have no qualms with our good old ghost town man. I think what he is doing is amazing and whatever time frame he gets this done in good on him!!
Brent. Have you looked into cricket wireless. It's on the at&t towers and you can get true unlimited high speed data for $60 a month. You can then hotspot it and run buildings off of it
