Amazing! Total Fire Ban watch for the day. Windy & not very wet start to the day, & then lightning. Keeping an eye out for fires starting deep in the bush. Not a pleasant day too be sure, & glad that it's over. Thanks for everybody who worked & is still working on cleaning up all this mess, & thank you Severe Weather Australia for sharing this video.
Deteriorating rusted old shop Awnings are falling what are councils waiting for there should be an inspection done , worthy certificates made by owners that they are safe and submitted to council.
Was in my car in Coogee when this quickly blew through. There was heavy rain, hail and strong wind gusts. I saw a plastic crate getting blown by, narrowly missing the side of my car. Loads of people huddled undercover on the side of the road. Brief, but extremely intense.
Wow 7th comment. There should be some kind of reward for this. Simply stunned and grateful to be the lucky 7th comment, and for not getting hammered with these storms! Kind Regards, Matt from Sydney
Bayside council is responsible for maintaining the trees in Eastlakes. You have to notify them about anything from potholes to fallen branches in normal times. Bayside council is pathetic.
It’s been around for decades. That’s how they described the storm that pulled the top off a tree at my parent’s house, which crushed a car, my cubby house, and punctured the boot of our other car. That was about 30 years ago.
I have family out that way. What we got yesterday afternoon along Botany Rd was similar to what the west (,NW and SW) normally cops on some Summer afternoons. Old gumtrees pruned to look like heads of broccoli..this was never going to end well. And, finally, someone from South Sydney gets a chance to say, "Oh, it was like a mini tornado!"
What an awesome job these men are doing. Surely the Premier should make a press conference on what a great job these men are doing. But I wouldn't expect it, as the Labor party ignores International mens day and Albo blames all men for the National Domestic violence crisis even these SES men are at fault for the DV crisis according to Albo.
They’re essential. They can also be dangerous under adverse conditions, but in normal circumstances trees are positive, providing shade which reduces the ambient heat.
Be carefull what you hope for. Storms are here to stay and possibly become more frequent and more devastating. It's written in books over 2000 years ago

It was actually the brick wall that collapsed through it.

It dropped some rain and hail as it skimmed over us here in Wollongong.

@nerissarowan8119 they should use the real term microburst, there are no mini tornadoes.
@@huck944 yeah, it’s a stupid term but it sounds good on the news…
"Mini tornado" 🙄
Not once was this suburb name mentioned!
All we got in Penrith NSW was 2 claps of thunder and a bit of rain

no tears for the dead trees? or the homeless birds and other critters?
There are plenty of trees in the streets nearby. I live in this area.
The storms out central northwest nsw looked like they produced tornadoes out of this system
Councils still don’t know how dangerous trees are in suburban areas.
