Just picked one of these up because as bad as I want a smartwatch, I dont like the idea of wearing radiation all day. These seem as smart as you can get without bluetooth and GPS. Very thorough tutorial man.
QUESTION -- Does this watch have the option of changing the screen to "grey" background with "black" numerals?? My Suunto has weak clarity of "grey" numerals (black background) no matter how I enhance the contrast.
I have this model and had the battery changed. I can't get the watch compass to calibrate. I'll try turning faster as you did in this very helpful video. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed, he was wrong there, but just to be 100% clear, those are based of your location settings in the “sunrise” menu, which follows a continent -> region -> city format. (magnetic) declination is used to make the compass point true north instead of to the magnetic north pole and does not affect the sunrise / sunset time.

Hi there. Just bought a suunto core blue crush watch. After unboxing the screen shows 12.00 of which '12' is constantly blinking and the word 'stunden' is seen on top of the time. Pressing the mode button does nothing, changes nothing. Really clueless on what to do to set everything right. Please help! Many thanks.
The manufacturer provides picture directions only, with the watch..and they are ambiguous and poorly presented. The band material is a poor choice...will break soon, I am sure. Watch itself is so far..good.
On the Suunto Core I referenced my ALT and set it then locked it on ALT only (instead of auto or baro). Im at 577 ft at home location then I go out 10 to 20 miles away and return and my ALT reads 541 or something off. Any suggestions on correcting this issue?
The backlight and display, in general, need to be of much higher resolution. I just got my Core, but I'm farsighted, and may have to return the watch, as it's still difficult to read the display without having to wear my goddam glasses.
+Matt Robinson If you hold the right hand side bottom button (just under the change mode button) for around 5 seconds it locks it and then if you do the same again it unlocks it. Hope that makes some sense?

Sent watch in for repair in Dec 2016 .Did not get any response till April 2017.At that time they asked for an additional $173. Received a new watch which was nothing like my original and had none of the function of my old watch. Contacted customer service which was a total waist of time. I'll never buy an other Suunto watch nor will I recommend this company to anyone. Save your money and buy a watch from Wal-Mart. HW

This is the dumbest watch I've ever owned. Completely unreliable in the field and confusing as hell! Also Suunto costomer service is literally non existent for the US consumer. My retailer can't even get help from Suunto Oh and the battery dies every 3-4 months. My $40 Timex blows it away!
Those "Intelligent Quartz" Timexs look awesome. Basically this Suunto watch is no more special than those ABC Casio watches you find at Walmart for around 60-70$
My suunto core all black version is a piece of junk. The compass is never accurate and is always off no matter how many times you rotate the damn thing. It cant hold calibration and it's not even off by equal amounts, if north was showing 035 you would expect east to show at 125 and its not its more like 107. I like the watch but if you plan on using this for any serious navigation.... don't.
You need to stay away from metal and large object as you do this calibration. Like a regular compass, go outside, nothing else but you and do it, and while imperfect, it is is what it is. This is why serious campers/survivalists know how to navigate in other ways.

Great watch, my only issue is that so far there seems to be no way to adjust the display brightness as it is hard to see in some situations.
You can set the contrast after going into sleep mode.

Those aren’t time zones. That’s sunrise and sunset as based off your declination.

I have just bought this watch and my compass needs re-calibrating but I have alredy set it up is there any way to fix this
press all four corner buttons to reset watch, then it will ask you to recalibrate the compass

Any idea how to unlock the watch? The only thing I have found that works is to remove the battery which is obviously not the best method.
