Montezuma's Revenge: levels 1-6

- Here I play my favourite game: Montezuma's Revenge (Atari 800XL version) on a MacOS emulator. In former times I did not suck like this...maybe because of using a real joystick, maybe because I used to play the C64 version (which however looks pretty much identical)...maybe because I was way younger!
Anyway, pretty decent performance given that I haven't been playing this game (on an emulator) for something like 15 years :) - Ігри
First time I played this game in 1988, I was 10. It was in USSR in Soviet republic of Kazakhstan. Hi to all Soviets children!!!! Still love this game and sounds

holy fuck the nostalgia, i remember this probably first game i ever loved and played to death
pretty sure i finished it too, which was quite an accomplishment at my age at the time
Instablaster...
Holy F**K indeed.
the beginning of our life
Rihht it was so much fun
This is awesome. This is a game, if you were an Atari user, this was the boss. Everything about this classic was divine. No cheep deaths, hit detection was spot on, multi ways of demise. Ropes, ladders, gems, meanies, dark rooms, it was all there to come back to, and enjoy all over again, and again, and again. Fantastic game , that I still play today, on iOS though, shame.
One of the best games ever made for Atari. I loved that game.
This was the first game I ever played and loved back in the 80’s. I’m 37 and still rock it with video games!
A very tough game. Well played! The jumping had to be very precise to survive in Montezuma's Revenge.
My friend at school used to play this... there was only 1 computer in the computer lab that could play this game, and he always got that computer. All I could play was Where is Carmen Sandiego... and sometimes Lode Runner. We got only 1 hour per week into the computer lab.
Used to play this on my C64 too, what a great game. Imagine my surprise later in life when I finally found out what Montezuma's Revenge really means :)
I played this game in the 80s. Nostalgia))
My favorite game on the 1st console I owned, an Atari 5200. Nice job on the playthru, brought back a lot of great memories!
"la cucaracha" 🎶 y cuando se desliza: "epaa epaa"🎶
That's exactly as far as I ever got. :) Oh man, I loved this game as a kid.
Childhood memories. My first Atari 130 XE which was a newer version of the Atari 800 XL
O men its like 1985 again in my case played it while living in Poland on my Atari 800 XL
pawel117 117 yo en mi atari 130xe
Same! Haha :)
I used to play it too, but i still live in Poland. Do you still live there too?
Wow...played this on my Apple II e back in the 80’s...for hours...days...weeks...one of my all time favorites 👌💯💯💯
This one was one of a few games I played on Atari and as a Commodore
fan/owner I sadly enjoyed it more than the C64 version. Thanks for
bringing back the memories.
Amazing! Brought back memories from the early 80s! Thank you!!!!
Spent many hours playing this on my c64 back in the day. You make it look a lot easier than it actually was!
Great game. Played it in the mid eighties in the apple 2c. Spent a lot of time playing this game and finishing it. Remember the challenge of navigating in the dark screens.
THIS GAME WAS AT ALL GAME CLUBS IN EARLY 90X
Thanks for this awesome gameplay. BTW, 9:20 made me laugh haha.
I never get that far though.
This game laid the tracks for games like Super Mario Brothers. It was well designed and thought out. I remember all the scenes like yesterday as well as the intensity and frustration of trying to make it through.
River Raid, Boulderdash 1, 2, 3 и Montesuma Revenge...
this brings memories, wow ...well played :)
Wow. Thanks for posting this. I often played this game on my Atari 800XL, and watched this video while working (ha). Thankfully, I now have Montezuma's Revenge on the Colecovision Flashback, which is pretty close to this version overall.
Gracias por subirlo. Recuerdos felices
Si me trae recuerdo
omg i played this game about 25 years ago, ooh good memories
thanks for uploading :) that was my favourite game on Atari as well :)
I spent some time playing this way back...as a kid on my parents IBM...haven't seen these levels since 1986...so crazy.
Also played King's quest, buck rogers, sopwith, tapper plus a few others.
I played the game over and over again with a friend when we weren't playing pitfall 2 or similar games.
Same as me!
Atari+Montezuma=My childhood ❤
I used to play as kid untill last level in totally darkness and I remembered every step. I don't know if now I'd have same skills and patience:) One of best game I ever played on C64 and still enjoyable nowadays.
Had this game on PC and I played this game for hours, ahh good times!
I remember reaching a point where I would play a large percentage of the game in the dark on pure memory. I suspect it was around level 8 or so. I'm slightly bothered by the route you took through level 1, it looks very long and hard compared to what I remember my route was.
such a shamelessly difficult game what the hell
youre really a top skilled pro for playing it like that
I use to play this on Coleco Vision in mid 80s got to lvl 5 I was about 5 yrs old then so cool to see this.
You did a very nice game !! i never managed to get this far
From Taipei. Played this on IBM PC in about 1987-88, I was 4-5.Never got past level 2. This game is so hard.
One of the GOATS
omg.. we played this in computer class in elementary LOL.. this and Conan and a math game with vacuum cleaners I think.. going down a nostalgia rabbit hole today it seems 😁
My First favorite game. After montezuma was pitfall
Pit Fall! To była giera! Ale żeś mi przypomniał! :)
7 minutes to gold !!!
30 years ago I & friends spend 1000 hour & we couldn't get gold.
Don't worry about not finding the torch. you do not need it to get to the treasure room at all, the only gap is the one you jump into. Just be sure you carry down two cyan keys into the dark, which shouldn't be that hard. :)
Same 80's memories for me - not much to do out in rural South Dakota in 1985. Played on my Apple iic!
Retro Gra -Moje dzieciństwo:D
dokładnie
*EL MEJOR JUEGO DE AVENTURAS DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS*
Best game from my childhood!
Well played sir!
Ah the memories, this game was actually kind of hard.
Me and my cousin used to play and see who is better all the time.
wow that was like almost 30 years ago.
How are you doing man
ohh i loved this game... ohhh my childhood...
Oh, this was my favourite game, we called it Pedro :D
almost all atari games requires very high I.Q . we love this games so much this games & colors are the beginning of our life
Where can I download it for PC? Thx
How did you got version without bugs? In my version (played years ago on real Atari 65XE and today on emulator), room seen at 5:07 causes glitches in the game.
LOVE THIS GAME!!!!
I remember this game was slower on my original Atari 800XL. Anyway nice playing. :)
How does he go through the snake at 0:45?
I remember this on our green screen Apple //e. How many levels were there?
Holy crap. You got far enough to demonstrate that the game essentially just repeats over and over again. I have officially been robbed of my desire to ever play this game again.
Sorry, good sir :D
Nostalgia, respect
amazing game i can't find it for windows, only atari2600 emulator and looks horrible, great video, great memories also. thanks for this =)
Holy crap .... this has levels? I remember the bonus part between the levels but I don't remember it was between levels.
So I guess, I've made it to level 2, .... that's good for occasional playing on Atari as I had C64 and didn't have this game personally.
It actually has "infinite levels": the shape is basically the same while the connections between the rooms are different in levels 1 and 2 (which have to be solved differently). From the third on, all levels have the same topology so one can solve them moving preferably on the right or on the left of the initial room. Starting from the bottom, the number of dark floors increases to the point of having basically all the game in the dark at about level 9 (above which, the counter of levels actually does not increase if I remember correctly).
Beautifull!!!
Right in the childhood
I remember typing this game in at school to be able to play it.
This cannot be true :D
It was fun back then, and it's still fun today :)
what happens after level 9?
I'm glad this exists.
Me encanta
aaaaa!! Q recuerdos!!!
so cool ^^
woah, mad skills :D
Enough suspense for today!
You had to time your jumps perfectly or else. Great memories from 80s elementary school days
isnt it Preliminary Monty 16K (different vesion of Monty v)
i think so too!
Actually no, this is the production run :)
The reason for confusion is that the Montezuma's Revenge (the one with intro from non-existing Utopia company) is the pre-release version which Robert Jaeger took to Parker Brothers asking them to release it. Unfortunately Parker Bros. demanded that the final game should fit in the 16KB cartridge thus author cut out quite a bit... Some time later the unfinished earlier version leaked.
Damn, now I must boot the emulator and try THAT :)
True that! :)
omg I havent played this in years and I want to so bad.where could I find it you think?
+Joe Jitsu c64 emulator. Set up and be playing it in 2 minutes dude. Look at tutorials here on youtube I play this a lot along with all the dizzy games and rick dangerous 1 and 2. :)
Hoxs64 is the easiest and best c64 emulator in my opinion. If you need any advice let me know.
por que andará sin zapatos ?
had this on atari st,amazing game !
Concerning the torch, I did the long detour purposely, to show where the torch was!
Wow ... nostalgia. And now I know why I was so bad at this game ... this is like an impossible Mario Bros.
how to download it?
fantastico
Back in the day, this was Tomb Raider for me, kiddos...
i remember this game and computer commodore 64 . i like this game and giana sisters
The green part was not on Texas Instuments ti-99
Hey, cool game! :))
My Dad beat this somehow, he stayed up all night. It was on the Apple GSII and the final level just had the little guy infinitely falling catching coins. He woke us up the next day and showed us the lil guy infinitely falling catching infinity coins, wow~!
This was my favorite game when I lived in Poland
Childhood remembrance...
Memories........
Hi there, I was just wondering if this is the original or the one from the Apple 2e computer? I have an Atari and I’d really like to get this exact same version. What are you playing this on? Thanks
Hi, this is an Atari 800 emulated version if memory serves me well!
Robbo 1 - 2 ;)
6:44 I wondered about that as a kid. LOL, now I know. :D
