"In the Garden, she is separated from Adam: she stays with the female animals and Adam with the male ones. The serpent seduces Eve, who swears to give the fruit to eat to Adam too. The serpent places in the fruit the poison of his wickedness, which is lust. When Eve eats it, she discovers that she is naked. All the trees of the Garden lose their leaves. Only a fig tree, the plant she ate of, still has leaves, and she hides her shame with its leaves. 9:06 Blake saw how Christianity, the source of life and liberation, with the message of love and brotherhood - God being the principle of each person’s inner life - had become the source of social control, spreading revenge and obedience to society’s laws and rules. He wrote: “And all must love the human form; In heathen, Turk, or Jew; Where Mercy, Love, and Pity dwell; There God is dwelling too.” (Songs of Innocence, 1794)
Blake was a true genius, a poet, a graphic artist, engraver and champion of true spiritual experience as opposed to the artificial limits of religious dogma.

I easily identify with Blake, as much of my art stems from the beyond rather than the seen world. I’m inclined to agree with most of his ideals except for that “an evil act is better than being passive good.” Nietzsche had a similar stance, yet water over time smooths the stone to sand. I find their stance on “passive good” relatable to the human trait impatience. For passive does not necessarily mean powerlessness if used correctly. As a feminine being perhaps I see it differently being able to create another human being with my body with no conscious action after the initial interaction. Very well done, thanks for such a lovely production.
Jung and Freud before him borrowed a lot of their stuff from earlier thinkers. There’s a book documenting how a lot of the ideas about the mind in Freud and Jung are already in Shakespeare.
I came across William Blake in the late 1990's i was looking for artist that I resonated with, he and Wassily Kandinsky was two I could relate with. thanks for sharing.
I share my birthday with Blake, and I find his desire to retreat into the interior world very relatable. His art and writing have brought me great comfort. His disdain for cold rationality and affection for the imagination show me how m eccentricity and solitude are gifts, not curses. Thanks for this essay.

Always a friend of William Blake never have I seen how incredible he is a true friend of man only if we seek do we receive.
"an unfortunate lunatic, whose personal inoffensiveness secures him from confinement" reads like an evil inquisitor upset that they can't torture something
This is by far my top two favourite philosophy channel on UA-cam. Other being academy of ideas where arts like this are featured on frequently. Now I understand the background of this. Thank you
That Blake was quite an enlightened guy.
So much insights by one person.
And such zeal and stamina to follow his own purpose.
Amazing.
Thank you ,
for introducing him to us!
This work is profoundly moving. With Gratitude.
"Deadman" Is my favorite movie. The best Depp ever did, and hardly anyone knows about it
its also my favorite movie. Ive seen it many times. Ive loved it ever since i was 14 or so, when my dad showed it to me. From Neil Youngs soundtrack to the performances. Its just all around amazing
Very many thanks for a clear and helpful introduction to Blake's work and creative process: 'I will not reason or compare; my business is to create.' Although physically small, Blake's paintings contain stunning amounts of detail when looked at closely. I paused and stared quite a bit!
"No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell."
I've been reading about shadow work and all that jazz. You can't neglect or ignore your so-called dark side and be a complete person. I believe our purpose here during every life we live is to grow our soul and to eventually earn our place in heaven. No one does it in one lifetime. I guess its time to have a conversation with my shadow. 😁✌
Only those who are ascended and elevated their Soul can achieve that in their life time
They are Saints, Venerable Men, those radiating with Divine Genius, whose overflowing Intellect churn the ocean of Primordial Divine to reveal and manifest the works of the Divine

You should check out “the science of self realization” “beyond birth and death” “east journey to other planets” by A.C Bhaktivedanta great reads about this topic and our purposes in the physical/ material world.

😁👍 my favorite poet! I found out about William Blake because of the movie 'Dead Man' by Jim Jarmusch. Been obsessed ever since.
This guy was ahead of his time. Damn.
Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea of how much I needed it.
The only thing I hope, one day, is get to see people joyful of appreciating this knowledge, instead of arguing about it.
I've got a print of Ancient of Days in my room right next to my bed and it freaks me out every morning, I love it
This is an excellent lecture on William Blake's mystical work. Thank you.
Blake was a true genius, a poet, a graphic artist, engraver and champion of true spiritual experience as opposed to the artificial limits of religious dogma.
All the paintings have a dreamlike feel to them.
One off my favorite Artist's . When in Paris, engraved , color printed a Art piece in honor off William Stanley Hayter, Atelier 17. Best compliment I got, was from Artist, comparing the work , off William Blake. Glad to see him here! Great Artist. Could be part of our re- awakening.🇩🇰🇺🇸🌅🙏⏳🌷
A true visionary and a great Briton whose influence is still with us.
Marvelously well done. The most accessible take on Blake I’ve found.
Love Blakes’ works. So brilliant.
If only his technique were up to his visions!
Always one of my favorite artists. Fortunately we have a gallery nearby with many of his works and drawings.
One of my favourite poet.. love your work eternalised,🙏🙏🙏
Well timed upload, lifesaver
Blake is so underrated
He was talking about Shadow Work before Carl Jung? That's really interesting. Thank you for this video.
Jung and Freud before him borrowed a lot of their stuff from earlier thinkers. There’s a book documenting how a lot of the ideas about the mind in Freud and Jung are already in Shakespeare.
This channel never fails to expand my mind
One of the dragon paintings was actually featured in the Red Dragon movie of the Hannibal Lector Trilogy and was part of a major plot point.
This channel deserves way more views. Keep up the great videos.
Great work l love Blake's otherworldly art and poetry.Such a visionary.Thank you William for helping me see.
I came across William Blake in the late 1990's i was looking for artist that I resonated with, he and Wassily Kandinsky was two I could relate with.
thanks for sharing.
Matter is the lowest form of spirit and spirit is the highest form of matter
I am glad you decided to make a video about Blake. Thank you
I share my birthday with Blake, and I find his desire to retreat into the interior world very relatable. His art and writing have brought me great comfort. His disdain for cold rationality and affection for the imagination show me how m eccentricity and solitude are gifts, not curses. Thanks for this essay.
Believe it or not Blake is one of the few English prophets. A clairvoyant and anti slavery poet. God bless his soul wherever he may be, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Christians hate clairvoyants....
I don't believe it :)
@@nilsify cool

This life's dim window of the soul distorts the heavens from pole to pole, and leads us to believe a lie when we look with and not thro the eye"
