Hoover High School Students Talk About School Safety, Planned Walkouts

- Students in Alabama's schools are responding to the shooting of 17 students and staff at Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School by organizing walkouts and marches to call attention to the need for better ways to keep them safe at school.
At least three nationwide events are planned. Events are being shared largely through social media, with details on the events being released and shared through multiple platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.
My school is having the walkout. I am not participating. I don't care about their agenda.

The 15 minute window has closed. This issue is now being politicized for other reasons, not having to do with the original incident. This is now about snotnosed kids wanting to act like activists, and not wanting to return to school.

I think this is an amazing way for the YOUNGER population(who is also the future of the US) to stand up against gun violence and make their voices heard. As for the negative comments below, I think they are pathetic. It's sad when the older generation, stuck with the same old beliefs of "we are always right, kids are dumb, give me my guns and I don't care what happens around me" mentality comment on these young ladies' videos. Please stay home with your guns while you praise Trump, gentlemen.

@Caius the US has always stood for people being allowed protest especially peacefully on things they feel are important. I know this concept may seem wild in a closed society such as Russia where protesting can be VERY dangerous to ones health.

Caius Postumius Turrinus I go to Hoover High School and we weren’t ditching school. We held our silent assembly today on a club day we went to every class we normally go to. It will only be counted as ditching if we walk out of the school tomorrow.

onepcwhiz you can not sound a certain race, people have just made stereotypes about certain races.
It's just an expression, but you are technically right. Sounding black is really sounding southern. Most of the black people I knew in New Jersey sounded southern (said ya'll and other southernisms), but it was I'm guessing because they had only recently moved north (within a generation).. There was a big migration of black people from the south to the north in the late 60's and into the 70's.
Every school needs a large armory. What if a criminal brings a fully auto weapon? Schools need to be ready to one up all possible adversaries starting with rocket launchers to counter fully autos. Just look up the game fortnight to see how effective rpgs are.
We may soon need anti aircraft batteries once the criminals get there hands on f15s. What if that has already happened???
