This video still helping people 9 years later. Thanks for this well-made video, sir! 👍
Very good to hear!!
I cannot believe how old this video is but it is soooooo helpful. You explain things very clearly and I have learned how to do so much from watching your videos. I have a 2006 Nissan Quest and I have been able to keep her on the road with the help of your videos. Many thanks.
Thanks Dial2fast for making this video, it was really helped me, my Murano died while driving on the highway, i came home and searched on UA-cam and ran into your video, then i went to Autopart store and let them checked out the code, and it was P0345 Camshaft sensor bank2, and i know exactly where its locates at from your video.
It took me about 35 mins to completed this job, it was easy and i paid 70$ for the part. thanks again.
Your video was unbelievably helpful. I purchased the same model year van for $800 and I did this in their driveway before driving it. Once I had the correct tools it only took me 30 minutes thank you so much this video is much appreciated.
Very good to hear. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you sooooo much for sharing this! Same issue for me and my mechanic didn't know what was up. I did the research and I see it is the Cam Sensor, but the error said it was Bank 2, the same as you. So, this is a perfect video for me to fix it myself. You rock!!!
Hi there... I can't thank you enough for this video. My 04 Nissan Quest has been parked for over six months now because it stalls and after regular stalling I realized that when the TCS OFF/SLIP lights come on the car does not rev anymore. I just got the Camshaft Position Sensor and will install it tomorrow.
But then it's now proving hard to start.
Liked and subscribed! ☺
thank you for this video. I was being charged $250 to fix just 1. I bought the part $72. did it myself. saved $178
How much to do my 350 z 😂
Wish my engine was this clean! Thanks for a great video! I have to change these in every car I have ever owned!
I second the last posters comments. Unfortunately I purchased a more expensive code reader because of the ABS warning light (but I am future proof!) The parts were easy to replace and your explanation for disconnecting the wiring connector was valuable. My repair was to a 2002 Altima 3.5. Replaced both sensors as you did ... all in it took about 30 minutes. Between this video and others I learn a valuable skill... read the main obd codes and clear them first. A basic code reader was all that I need for this
Awesome video! Did the camshaft sensors with the help of this video and saved myself a lot of cash instead of going to the shop.
Excellent, thanks for sharing your experience.
One of the best tutorials I have seen on UA-cam. Thank you very much. May Jesus bless you and yours always kind Sir.
Thank you . That was exactly my problem. No power because TSC and SLIP light was on. Performed an ODBCII scan and found a PO345 (camshaft sensor) along with a few other codes such as engine misfire. Went to Oreilly and purchased bank 1 and back 2 camshaft sensor for ~ $150 total. Replaced them, cleared the codes, and now it runs perfectly. BTW: My 05 Nissan Quest almost has 100k miles on the engine- fairly low miles for the year.
I had the code for bank 1 which I have replaced twice, bank 2 is obviously my problem due to the slip light on. Thanks man
Fantastic tutorial! Great diagnosis of the problem and easy to follow instructions.
Thank you for your help I put both in seems to be running good now.
Great video helped me replace the sensor with no problem. My 2005 Quest died on me driving home. The pos battery terminal was corroded, I cleaned it and it started. It died again a day or so later, I checked the terminal and the clamp was worn, not tight so I replaced it, drove fine. No check engine or other lights on dash. Next day or so car died again. this time check engine light on and slip light and tcs lights on. After a few minutes the car would start again but hard to start. So I used my tester to get the code, found this video and replaced it with no problem. I would not have figured out where the part was or how to take off the electrical clip without this video! The sensor that went bad on mine was bank one, the one in the back of the engine. I ordered the other sensor and will replace it in a few days when it arrives. Thanks for this video!
Glad you got yours fixed. Thanks for your feedback!
Thanks a lot for yet another excellent explanatory detailed video!
Turned out I removed the wrong sensor.
Its Ok now since I am going to change both of them
- P0345 for Camshaft Position Sensor (Bank 2) between engine and battery
- P0340 for Camshaft Position Sensor (Bank 1) by the firewall
Thanks a again!
I believe bank 2 is by the firewall, bank 1 is by closer to radiator
This is the second video that has helped me with my van. You are awesome!
Glad I was able to help!
Thank you so much for the video. Very helpful and solved my problem. I replaced both camshaft sensors and I will be replacing the crankshaft sensor later (already purchased). Great video, great attitude! No cussing so my kids could watch.
Very good to hear!
This fixed my ck engine/slip/tcs issues. Thank you for saving me a ton of cash!
How did you get your TCS & SLIP lights to turn off
Have the exact same van and the same issue. Fixed it myself in 40 minutes and saved about 250 bucks. Thanks.
What did U do because I replaced both cam shaft sensors and slip and tcs lights are still on?
worked for my 03 i35. My location was a lil easier. Only symptom i experienced wàs hard start and abs/cel lights going on. thanks for the help op
Before i leave your video, pretty good video. I was looking for a pathfinder with the same issue, but your video was interesting and very detailed. Really good info and I am sure there are many that will get help from this. Thank you.
Thanks for your comment!
This fixed the TCS/SLIP sign along with the shutting down of the car issue I was having. I only changed the sensor on the right side on the motor next to the battery. Thank you so very much for your help. Happy holidays and have a wonderful rest of the day
+Kuljit Singh Thanks for sharing!
What problems you was having when your slip light came on .My slip light is on and it sound like my brakes bad and the accelerator want speed when trying to drive it on a 2005 Nissan Maxima
@@yorkiesisterskhloemarieand6198 did you ever get your Maxima fixed?
Thanks a million for posting this video, read the code, googled the code, watched your video, bought the part, and replaced the part all in about 90 minutes.
+fontabg Happy to hear you got yours fixed. Thanks for sharing
@@dial2fast Are both sensors the same for Bank 1 and Bank 2?
@dial2fast thank you for the help i had paid 350 to get the front one changed since i had not a single clue about cars my first time around. i changed the back sensor myself once i watched this video and felt so dumb not doing it myself. the mechanic said he had lots of work changing the front one but now i realized he was full of it. my 04 quest is back to normal
Cool, thanks for sharing!
Ivan Guillen ,
Typical bullshit mechanic.
This is just what I needed. I'm a decent backyard mechanic, but would've had no idea even to begin looking for these sensors... I'll be doing this on my wife's Quest within a day or 2.. I will let you know how it goes. THX!!
8years later !
Both sensors changed. CEL gone.
Thanks again!
I know this video is old but you just saved me $220. Thank you.
Thx Bro! Your awesome video helped me so much. I just cleaned with rubbing alcohol bay 2 sensor and Walla fixed all warning lights and van runs great again.
It had oil in the sensor not sure how it gets in there but I recommend every try that first because these sensors are way over priced.
thanks to you I was able to fix my van thank you
Thanx. I've learned something and saved a few hundreds
Hi I want to thank you so much for making this video it really helped me a lot God Bless you all problems solved thanks God
You saved me a ton of time. Great video. We have a 2004 too so the video was perfect. Debating on whether to do the crankshaft sensor or not
The two cam sensors are soo easy to replace on the vq my Sr on the other hand you have to take off the valve cover and line up gears/teeth just right. This is just one bolt and one connector. Thanks for the video.
excellent video I appreciate your explanation and patience I am about to send my nissan quest to the junk but your video will give it another chance, thanks friend, greetings from Houston.
Excellent thank you ,I couldn't have done it without you
I had to change both of them in my girlfriends car. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB EXPLAINING STEP BY STEP AND GOOD VIDEO ANGLES TOO!
Very good to hear you got it done.
I’m trying to do it for my girlfriends car as well.
Where are both located? One on top of engine where is the other one? I am really looking for Nissan Altima 2009? Thanks
Thanks so much for this video, it helped me fix my 2005 Maxima yesterday.
+Dat1Guy Thanks for sharing!
what was your maxima doing ?
very very impressive dealer told me to change bank 1 is $ 400 . this video self explain very helpful. Thanks.
I installed the new sensor and it was great thanks to you! But, today the van started stalling immediately upon starting from being parked. It starts after one try, bit why is it doing this? I'd the timing perhaps off now?
thanks for your video it is very helpful. after watching I was able to replace both of them sensors on a murano 2003.
+miguel gonzalez Very good to hear!
Thanks so much. Best video showing both banks. Awesome.
Thanks so much for the detailed video. It helped me easily change my camshaft position sensor on my 2003 Infiniti I35, especially how to disconnect the plug. Strangely, that was the hardest part.
Very good to hear. Thanks for sharing!
Hey did your infiniti continue to stall once you replaced the sensors? Just asking because I’m having same issue with 04 i35
@@chiefsosa5840 it wasn't stalling, but it was a no start condition. It fixed that part 100%
@@rob9628 appreciate you so much for replying back thank you so much🤝.
wow very helpful video i paid like 700 at a nissan dealer to replace the two sensors////great job bro
Thanks for your comment. I had no idea that's what they were charging for this work.
$30 eBay and 4 bolts
Hi again so i went to the store today to get the sensor cuz i know something wasnt good with the other one and Bingo! that fixed it all thanks again for this upload brother.
Good to hear!
Thanks so much for making that video. This is what I will be doing tomorrow morning and a video makes things much easier than written directions.
Great tutorial video dude! Worked perfectly. Cleared the code and the TCS/SLIP light went out after about 15-20 minutes afterwards.
Excellent, very good to hear!
Good Video bro. I just ordered Camshaft Bank1 and Bank2 also Crankshaft position sensor and all 3 cost me total about $35 and brandnew. Bought it from website. I be changing mine soon too. My car 05 G35 coupe appeared the issues is when everytime I make a turn, the slip light pop up and reduce the speed acceleration. Thanks for video.
Very good job in explaining every step you took in this video, you're a good instructor... it helped me a lot. That you!
Thanks for your comment!
You are the Man! You make look so easy. Will the damaged sensors make your car not crank the first time??
Excellent video. Far better than average. Thank you for taking the time!
Great Job, your videos are amazing. Your lower control arm vide helped me out alot aswell. Let me know what next caryou buy so I buy the same one..lol that way anytimesomething happens and you fix it I will learn how to do mine aswell...lol
Hey Yeoman, really appreciate your comment. Glad I am able to help you with your car maintenance. If I get another car, I am sure I will share it on my channel.....but probably not anytime soon because I am cheap LOL.
great video.....i will use your procedures for this job. thanks
I found your video very helpful. I will end up taking my 2004 Quest van tomorrow to the auto parts store. Get is scanned for a code. If I have the same problem. Then I have the video to fall back on the repair. Thank you. Professionally done video.
Appreciate your comment. Hope all goes well for your repair.
dial2fast I did take my 2004 Quest to the auto parts store. I saw that I needed the Cam Sensor Bank 2. I purchased one. Replaced it. Tried starting it. Same problem. I returned to the auto parts store. The new scan revealed. Cam sensor Bank 1. I purchased the Cam sensor Bank 1 sensor. After installing. I started my vehicle. No problems. Even my service engine light was gone right away.
I could not have done as easy. Without your video. I will replace the third sensor. Crankshaft. As soon as I can afford it. Thank you again so much..
Excellent to hear. Thanks for sharing. Yes the minimum is to replace both Cam Sensors as they will go out about the same time.
Those two light have never came on until the car stalled on me the other night they came on, but they went off.
Good video! Do you happen to have the video replacing the 3rd sensor the one that belongs in the rear?
Good for you, it's always best to get the OEM sensors rather than aftermarket. Aftermarket sensors seem to fail after a few years. I replaced my Bank 1 sensor two years ago. I'm starting to get occasional stalling and hard starts now, coming up with a P0340 code again. I think I'll get the next one from the 'stealership'.
You damn straight, you will never beat the factory
😂😂
Not always! Usually it’s poor quality OEM parts that fail in the first place, if the OEM parts were that great you wouldn’t need to replace them. If there is a high end aftermarket replacement available Id go for that.
Good video. My code said P0340 Bank 1, this is on a '07 Maxima. Symptoms were a momentary losses of power and then the TCP and SLIP lights would come on. Just replaced so don't know if that will fix the problem but fingers crossed. It must be a fairly common problem because the bolt head was a little chewed when removed it, so someone else has been in there before. Hope it works, very tight fit and a bit of a bear to remove and reassemble.
Great demonstration. Very helpful.
Will a bad cam shaft sensor and or crank sensor make the engine crank but, not turn over, like there is no fuel to the engine?
2006 Impala 3.9
Awesome video. Thanks a lot.
Great video thanks. It goes out initially but after a while it will start again if you just change one sensor. You need to replace all three. Two on top camshaft sensor and and the crankshaft censor on the bottom of the engine underneath the car.
I also came to this conclusion. I ordered all three sensors for $55. I hope it's not a fake
So I need to change all three sensors and everything should be ok.
Excellent video..........positioning and lighting makes clear view of your work.......Congrat!!!
Great job. I have the same problem. Thanks for the confirmation.
i took my 2005 quest to advance auto to read my service light. They had code P0340 bank1 camshaft. Also there was a C1130 engine signal. There was a pending P0420 cat system. I failed inspection cause of service engine. I loved the video and saw your light went off. Im tight on money so if i just replace bank 1 would light go out. Also do you know what the other to alerts are C1130 and the pending P0420 and could the camshaft sensor effect all those.
Your video was super helpful. Thank you.
Glad you found my video. Cheers!
thank you dial2fast! for other DIYers - i tried to change only the bank 2 sensor (the one that is easy to access). unfortunately about 4 weeks later i had to change the other one as well. my car stalled while driving and i got the code for bank 1 sensor - p0340) . i used hitachi brand sensors from autozone, supposedly OEM. my bank 2 sensor has been working for 4 weeks now, without issues. i am still hoping that i dont have to do the crankshaft position center, but will be expecting it to go i guess.
Always replace both cam sensors. In my Murano and my quest it's always One sensor and then a month later the other ones so now I just changed both whenever it happens. And it happens a lot in Nissan's I found because I've owned a lot of Nissan's. Those damn sensors are their biggest weakness
My car has done exactly what you said and I got a code for a cam sensor. my car is a 2002 maxima are they in the same location? On all three.
I have a bank 1 problem on my 350z. Engine had just stalled. Getting it fixed tomorrow.
Just like you said in video, my 2005 Max died while driving and will not restart. Diagnostic scanner says I needs these two sensors. Will buy and install, hopefully it fixes problem. Thanks for the video
Derrick Hampton did it help with a acceleration problem as well?
If you did have one
I just put 2 brand new ones in mine bc it was saying bank 1 was bad. Now it swapped to bank 2 po345 instead of po340.
Excellent video! Thank you so much!
Another fabulous vid. I just wish I had seen it last year before I did my camshaft position sensor on my Altima 3.5. Releasing the connector is where I had problems and you describe it step by step so well. A must see vid. before you attempt this job!
Delirious391 Thanks for your comment!
This help me so much!
this was a great resource bro, thanks!
I know it's pretty randomly asking but does anybody know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Arjun Dexter i use FlixZone. Just search on google for it :)
@Aidan Ernesto Yup, I have been using Flixzone for years myself =)
@Aidan Ernesto thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I really appreciate it!
@Arjun Dexter Happy to help :)
Sometimes the aftermarket ones are a bigger headache than they're worth. Went through two sets of aftermarket sensors before just buying OEM directly from Z1 Auto. And the silver Hitachi ones always aren't a good fit either for Nissan engines.
I have a Nissan Maxima 2005 and it would sometimes stall as I approached a stop sign. I would have to wait 15 minutes or so until it would start again. Not a good situation on a busy street. I ended up cleaning the mass air flow sensor and after a week, so far so good. I erased codes and no codes have appeared since.
thanks again for your help
Great Video Thanks I have to do the same to mine
This was a big help
What were the symptoms of the car when this was bad? My car kept jerking and dies when I unplug the MAF so I think it's this
Thank you! Super useful!
Very helpful! Thanks!
Hi, your videos rock! I have a 2007 Quest and I feel much more comfortable just knowing how some of this works. Question #1...if I remove the clip and see oil in the sensor part can I just try cleaning that first instead of removing the unit? If yes, can I use brake cleaner to clear the sensor from dirt:/oil? Question #2....Would you not be easier to remove the 10mm bolt and then separate the sensor from the green clip? I have big fingers! :-)
Hi, Question #1: well the purpose of doing this repair is because the sensor actually failed, not because there is oil on it. You don't want to spray brake clean on any sensors. Brake clean is a very harsh chemical and can damage the sensor. Question #2 you disconnect the connector first because there is not enough slack on the wire to pull that sensor out with it connected.
Thks worked like a charm
Is this the same for a 2002 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE?
Awesome video. Thanks a lot.
Neil Williams I have that a car and I have this problem. But my code is P0335. What was your fix?
. it helped me a lot. That you!
Shout out to dial2fast. His videos have helped me before. I just learned a Pro Tip on the bank 1 sensor. Do every thing he says but leave the connector connected and drag it out. I tried the two screw driver method and got mad.
When you have it out just use a normal pliers on the push down ...It came out like it was under pressure. From the bottom to push down. What sucked for me is I had the wrong part...Angled. Now I know. I'll do it in 5 minutes when the right part gets here.
You know what I just noticed I think I replace bank to the code is reading back one I actually replace the one in the front like right next to the battery can you tell me like tell me how to replace bank 1 and is bank one a straight plug
Hi, Would you able to guide where the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are on Nissan Quest 2006 SE, it's a 5S. The symptoms are almost all that you have mentioned, but I am yet to read the CODE: is reading the code must before proceeding to the solution given and secondly is there a life span to these sensors?
GReat video. I'd love to see your crankshaft solenoid replacement video. Did you record it yet ? Where can I find it
very helpful thank you.
great video , but I didn't see you install sensor assy cam ?? All I see you install, crankshaft and Camshaft ??
Does this also apply to the Infiniti g37? I seriously can't find a straight answer as to where the bank 1 camshaft sensor is on that car
I have an 05 maxima and mine does that, I got it read and it said camshaft position sensor, did everything you did step by step but it’s still doing the same thing 🤦🏾♀️ did I do something wrong or should I replace the crankshaft too?
3 mechanics have replaced these. Slip always on. Check engine and TCS. Mechanics say OEM doesn’t matter. Should I buy 3 OEMs and have them replaced? Not sure if what to do at this point.
I have a question, my check engine song and my code is 0340. My dash shows the TCS and the slip light. Does that apply to the first camshaft position sensor on top?
This seems like my issue, 07 Max, though it has yet to trigger codes or all-together fail. I would just like to be done with it and move on; frustrating.
Do you happen to know if ti is the same for nissan frontier 2005 thank you that is a great video
The Frontier has a different V6, but it deoes have the camshaft position sensors. So the location may be different.
Hello Sir, many thanks for your video it did work our for us as well (we have Nissan Quest SE 2006). We had the TCS/SLP along with engine light ON this June 2017. Got the error P0340 thru the code reader and replaced the camshaft sensor and the engine light went off. Haven't replaced the crankshaft yet. But ever since the problem happened - the car makes significant noise while accelarating (similar to tuck..tuck sound), is this related or is there something else that I need to focus on? Should I go ahead and replace the crankshaft sensor as well? Furthermore as you kept the car for so long - when do we change the car plugs & gear oil (kms/miles) for this car?
Your response will be much appreciated. Best Regards!
If it sounds like it is clicking, they are notorious for timing chain issues. The plastic guides need replacing. They become brittle. And if it is what I expect you hear, it is the chain loose. eBay you can get kit for $70 and do the job yourself, but it is extensive.
