Viltrumite can be burned if you provide the same energy as the cores of a star. Below that, their Smart Atom will try to reform itself to take the damages.
This goes to show you how strong Immortal and War Woman were. The fact they were able to do that much damage to Omni-Man in Episode 1 compared to the Hammer in Episode 7 is crazy.
@@jarllim4713 Getting a 100-tons train moving is equal to 982000 newtons of force. Mind you, that is just for the slightest movement, not to make it go like 50 miles an hour. A grenade exploding equals to 20000 to 25000 newtons of force. Does a train devastate the surrounding areas while it moves? You're comparing apples and oranges here. One was a massive explosion due to the superheated air around the laser and the other is a punch or in other words, just something moving. A punch shouldn't devastate anything else than what it's punching no matter how strong it is. That doesn't mean it's weaker than an explosion. It just means it's less indiscriminate.
@@giantWario Thanks for educating me and that's quite interesting. It's not all the time I see a well thought out comment, more so one that is reasonably compelling. I'm curious though if immortal and war woman can damage omniman on the first episode to the point that they can make him bleed. How come when war woman missed omniman with her mace and she hits the floor, the damage to the floor is only minimal? If she was hitting so strong that it could daze and make omniman bleed excessively, why the minimal damage to the floor? The power of the strike should translate into something powerful, when in contact with an object. In the case for immortal, in his revival he was punching Omni man and was sending him flying and colliding with the ground with destruction comparably less than the Hammer Laser. How would Immortal's powerful punches translate to the impacts on the ground when he punched omniman?
@@jarllim4713 Well for War Woman, I would assume that when she saw that she missed, she simply pulled back her blow. Now I can try to calculate the force of some of the Immortal blows, for example, his last punch when they charged at each other created a shockwave which means it was at the very least faster than the speed of sound. But while I have a reference for his speed, I have no reference for the mass used. And when talking about mass I don't mean how much the Immortal weight, the mass of a punch can be much higher than the mass of the person throwing it. An average person can throw punches with 3.5 times their own body mass which I know is confusing but it is how it works. But speaking about normal humans, for reference, if a normal human could punch at the speed of sound, you'd get 1 058 464 Newtons of force or more than what is needed to get a train moving. The thing is, it's really hard to measure anything based on what it does to something else than what it was aiming at. That applies to the laser as well because, once again, the explosion around the laser wasn't the main force of the laser, it was just an explosion caused by the superheated air around it, a side-effect. Hell, for all we know, the real reason why the laser didn't do much is simply because Viltrumites are more resistant to energy-based attacks than blunt force attacks.
@@giantWario The way you explain makes me wish I payed more attention or interest in physics. Nonetheless kudos for your effort man. Guess suspension of disbelief is oftentimes appropriate when things are too vague.
I have no doubt that Cecil never expected the Hammer might need to be used against Nolan until recently. But Nolan's remark is IMHO one more example of his Viltrumite arrogance. It slips out past his hero facade a few times during the series.
Shows that they(GDA; Cecil) should've tried bringing her back aside from Mauler Twins did with Immortal. Still would've lost....but Omni-man would have more lasting damage.
@@cahan557 I'm talking about in the show(not the comic); as Kirkman has made some liberties and shifts in story progression and how deep certain characters are fleshed out. They're clearly working with ways to destroy viltrimite blood cells(as Donald showed in ep5). Stands to reason there could be more liberties taken that are done for the purpose of survival and retaining powerful allies, since they have yet to completely circle back to that in the series(hint being the reanimen used against Omni-man were _dead_ soldiers). They'll eventually know about the Mauler Twins; how Immortal came back, have Ruddy/Robot and are in control of DA Sinclair. Also if you noticed in ep2 the original guardians all were shown with their brains destroyed except Immortal(head detached) and War Women(head twisted). To be fair, from what I know of the original comic, it's kind of in the spirit of the work. The artist loved reusing panels as gags. Now, do I think that's how they INTENDED for it to be received? Naw, they were just cutting corners. But it's hilarious enough that I love it.
I can't be the only one that was surprised by what Omni man deems "proper flying form", can I? It just was surprised I thought it'd be flatter, if I even ever truly imagined it in the first place. It' just one of those things you probably never really think about until you see it, or it happens.
I both was surprised and agreed with him on this, flying "flat" with your head being turned 90 degrees "upwards" is probably uncomfotable as well as denying vision on anything that could be above you.
I love the building of tension in this episode, every single attempt to even slow him down is a complete failure. Debbie being used as the barometer as well is brilliant, she's like "you monster how could you hurt my husband" only for the attack to do nothing and her to start feeling the weight of what Nolan is. earth is defenseless against nolan.
Mark was literally the only thing on the planet that had a chance to stop him and everyone knew that was a long shot. I haven't read the comics so the tension of each episode was incredible because I has no idea how Mark was going to stop him. Then scenes like this happen and I'm like, "oh shit, not even something that looks like a nuke can stop him."
This is so anime for American television, waiting for the smoke to clear after you hit the big guy and then going "THAT DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE A SCRATCH!" I love it

@@Richard-Espanol you do realize that Omni-Man is not evil? Like, everything he have done was because the Globe knew that he was way more powerful than him OR to prove Mark that they are way different than the actual humans. Otherwise he is a good man
Eh, it appears the satellite was in low Earth orbit, so straight up from impact point, about 120 miles up, give or take. Mark would be several hundred or even a thousand miles away.
The distance from Sea Level to Space is 62 miles. The Earth's circumference is 24,901 miles. This means omni-man could be up to 12,450.5 miles away at maximum (half the Earth's circumference). Therefore, Omni-man could be up to 200.81 times the distance from Mark as he is from Space.
Also, I don't think Omni Man was in a hurry to reach Mark. He had to initiate the most personally-difficult part of his mission, and he wasn't sure if his son would join the Viltrumite cause. Destroying a laser satellite was a much easier task for Nolan, mentally.
I see people talking about how awesome the animation is, but can we also acknowledge how badass that sound design is when the first Hammer strike hits?! I keep replaying that part just to hear it!
I believe the second shot probably had less power in it to 1 being in space, and 2 it just fired a shot from probably charging for a long time. And 3, the components probably deteriorated from the first shot.
I love how the intensity of the hammer's fall pushed Omni Man into the ground. I can only imagine how he couldn't move an inch catched there on the spot in surprise of what's going on. This goes to show you how strong Immortal and War Woman were. The fact they were able to do that much damage to Omni-Man in Episode 1 compared to the Hammer in Episode 7 is crazy.
nah its just the inconsistency of the power scaling and the writing. They werent throwing punches that devestated the surrounding area didnt they?

So you’re telling me war woman’s hammer did more damage to him than a literal orbital strike, damn
Shows that they(GDA; Cecil) should've tried bringing her back aside from Mauler Twins did with Immortal. Still would've lost....but Omni-man would have more lasting damage.
@@jonathanjohnson6727 are you aware that they dont have revival technology, the reviving is part of immortal’s powers
He's gotta fly slow to find Mark, no?
