- Meet Shelly, who lives in a beautiful tiny house with her dog, Miley. It's 10-ft wide by 28-ft long. She designed it herself around her needs, and Korallus Tiny Homes brought it to life. Her journey was full of ups & downs, like buying land only for the local land use laws to change unexpectedly, forcing her to switch gears. I notice that everyone who lives in a tiny home community comments on how great it is to have neighbors who share the same way of life. They all feel much closer to their neighbors than they did in their prior homes.
I especially liked her downstairs. It was laid out nicely and was well decorated! Her yard will be so nice when the plants and trees have a few more years to get established! I really enjoyed this video and I wish her a happy life.
Tiny home communities can be cozy, for sure! But it does seem that most folks we talk to do really enjoy living in them. There's definitely a respectful code about giving people their privacy--more texting, less knocking. And offering a wonderful opportunity for friendly neighbor relationships and full-blown friendships. 💗
Very nice to see a fellow solo woman (I’m 5 years into it). I like the interior a lot. Especially the bathroom!
Starting over is difficult as we get older. The plus side is you are able to focus on you, now. Having your dog, is your best decision because he is your companion. Downsizing to a Tiny House is the best idea. As you say, peace of mind is in abundance. Don't stay in the past your future looks brighter.

THIS HOME IS PERFECT. NOT ONLY IS IT SLIGHTLY LARGER FOR A TINY HOME. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT WITH A LOT OF THESE IS...NO TUB, JUST A SHOWER. I HAVE BACK ISSUES. AND HOT BATHS DO SOOTHE. I LOVE THAT LOFT ROOM SIZE. BUT I WOULD NEED A TALLER ONE TO STAND IN. I LOVE THE DECK. I HAVE 2 DOGS (SOPHY & SCOOBY DOO) AND SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD BE IDEAL. THE ONLY CHANGE I WOULD PROB MAKE IS REGULAR DOOR VS SLIDING PATIO DOOR!
Sliding door takes up less room. A regular door needs space to open.
My favorite feature in her home? The slide-out doggie bowls. :) Perfect idea for me living in a mini-home. Not as small as a tiny home, but I'm getting there. Love her storage solutions.

I appreciate a composting toilet, however the flush toilet rocks. Beautiful!!!!

Awww, Miley is precious! I wonder if she's friends with the other dog that lives behind them. This house is beautiful! I love how spacious it is. The builder did a great job! I'm sad for her that her other plan didn't work out, but it looks like she's in another great place.

I enjoyed this video. I’m very tempted to go tiny, but I’m concerned about investing so much money in a place where I don’t own the land. If the community owner sells or goes out of business, you are screwed. Are there reasonably priced tiny communities where people can own the lot and collectively set up utilities without restrictive HOA or condo rules?

Same, and even if you find a decent rental place to park it, the price could just continue to rise. Doesn’t work for fixed income folks.
Incredible tiny homes in TN also has a few spots where you can actually own the land , but still has the utilities to connect to

The lots are rented and have a yearly lease, and you have to give them a nonrefundable $30,000 upfront key payment for the privilege of leasing the lot, with no guarantee that the lease will be renewed. That's not a misprint-it really is $ 30,000. And they only allow houses that they build and sell to be placed on their lots, so you have to buy from them, or buy from someone who lives there who is selling.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ❤️ this tiny home and tiny yard!!! It looks perfect for me … maybe a little longer because I’d have to have a downstairs bedroom. I just love ❤️ it. I hope someday I can go tiny. Right now I’m taking care of my 85 year old mother, so it’s not a good thing right now.

So practical, simple and even though it's all white walls, there is enough wood around to bakance. Love this home.
If you shake the towels ocassionally while they're drying, you can get them pretty fluffy --- not quite dryer fluffy, but still nice to the touch.

You can put fabric softener in your washing machine and that will help with the towels, etc...

I love watching tiny home videos here on YT, and although her lifestyle doesn't align with mine, there's a certain level of honesty and vulnerability she's brought to her tour that I feel really connected to. The community sounds amazing and I'm so so happy for her! I think she was really transparent about costs as well, which is something people can be a bit vague on.

This is one of the more roomy tiny homes I've seen. The width being 10' makes all the difference. The inside is lovely. Really like the wrap around deck, which is also wide and functional.
I love your home. It is so light and airy, and well designed. The only thing I would do differently is that I would use hideaway clotheslines in your bathroom for drying laundry, along with hangers for shirts.

Beautiful house and yard! Sometimes our worst times bring us our greatest blessings. My clothesline is on a rod that rests inside a hole in the ground. When it is needed, it can be removed from the shed, set up, dry the clothes in the sun, and when done, pulled out of the ground and put back in the shed. It raises and closes similarly to an umbrella. Works great!

The BEST cooking is induction electric. I love it. I have both gas and induction and gas and rarely use gas.

Wow, beautiful well thought out home!!! I like that the Landlord offers a good amount of space with the homes and doesn't charge a ton of money. Some of the places out there charge insane prices. More and more people go tiny out of necessity and charging high lot rents defeat the purpose. Sounds like this place is a winner! Hat's off to the Landlord for not being a greedy person!
Location plays a lot into the decision of how much to charge for lot rent. Excellent locations will have higher demand, and therefore have higher land purchase fees, construction costs, permit fees, renters Insurance, and land taxes. Those costs get rolled into the monthly rent, along with some profit. Part of the profit will need to be used to pay State and Federal taxes and maintenance like upkeep of roads and common areas. Only those expenses related to maintenance are tax deductible, income taxes are imposed on everything else collected. The land owner deserves to be paid back for all the work and risk involved to buy and get the land ready, and they also deserve to make a decent living.

Love how she could envision exactly what she needed and convey it to her builder. That is a rare talent. Amazing functional design. And finally common sense on a twin mattress that leaves a lot of living space. (I can never figure out why we only take up about 3 feet but want a king sized mattress. Especially when it comes time to launder and change the sheets) And isn't it amazing how God works and knows more what we need than we do by squashing the plans we thought we wanted. !

I hope to one day build a 10ft. wide tiny house. Her house was/is nice. I love her kitchen and bath.
I'm worried about humidity and mold because you have no circulation under your bed and also lots of humidity from hang drying your laundry. Research air exchangers etc and whatever you can fit under the bed for air circulation.
Some people with incredible tiny homes got moldy beds. ( Humans cause moisture in bed at night and condensation from breathing etc let alone baths/ showers, laundry and kitchen cooking etc it all causes humidity that we don't notice. ❤️

Mom told me years ago when the towels are still damp versus how you hang them & they will be soft.
You did a great job on this. It looks really nice. I hope you and your dog get out in those mountains and enjoy them, instead of you watching the TV and your dog is just watching you. Nature is a great healer. I'm glad you're feeling better and have found new friends. Think about getting another dog before your dog gets much older, because your dog will live longer.
We do get out every day to enjoy the beautiful nature in these mountains. I only watch TV to relax at night when the day is done.
