We are all about raising and training our horses, the Missouri Foxtrotter. Our goal is to bring awareness to this breed and showcase just how wonderful they are! We also raise and train our working border collie dogs. And don’t forget the homesteads sheep, goats and mini cattle!!! We also go to occasional auctions and recently have gotten into regenerative farming/agriculture. We are all about learning how to improve our fields/soil.
Phew! That’s a lot! But we love it! Make sure to subscribe to our channel to follow along!

Becka taught me this trick about a year ago and it has work fantastic on every horse that I’ve worked with! Thank you Becka!
Looks like the Apple didn't fall far from the tree. Impressive young lady.
Thank-you for teaching both us and the mare. Learned quite a bit from your thorough and patient demonstrations.
I'm more than sure, you are heading for the spotlight, as one of the worlds most influential and sought after teachers, in the horse training and animal handling world.
It requires a lot of patience!!! You're awesome dear!
Rebekah you are so talented!!! Loved watching this!!!
It's interesting watching the horse figure out the right choice. I like how you make it easier by eliminating options - no forward, backward or left. At first she shuffles around then bam!! she's got it.
First time watching this channel. I'm impressed with Rebekah's personality and skills!
Great video and congrats on approaching 50k subscribers too!🎉
Thank you so so much for showing us an easy and am not so easy horse because mine is just like the second mare. I learned I need to be more consistent and continue as long as it takes. THANKS!!!
They are both learning it, your daughter is so kind and patient with them !
That was so awesome! Loved it. Pressure release. Pressure release. Nothing like a well trained animal and their committed trainer. Nice Bekah.
Loved watching this. Very impressive and Rebekah, you're very talented trainer. You can tell the horses love and respect you. So fun seeing them 'get it'. Thank you for the lesson.
It is amazing how fast a horse can learn. This is why the proper technique in training is so important, otherwise you can ruin a good horse.
Becca you are such a great teacher,
A very proud Mum and Dad watching on! Excellent job Rebecca!!!! Love the saddles too!
Thanks for posting! This was great.
Rebekah, you are quite the pro, both in you horse knowledge and in your confident presentation! It's a pleasure watching you work. I hope you'll do more training videos for public consumption!😊
Shea is a lovely young mare. Is she your horse? She would be a beauty in the show ring.
I had to smile at Cricket. I think she is old enough and confident enough that she's a little harder to convince! Her whole attitude is different. I can almost hear her: "Really, do I have to do this? Why? My human never asked me to do this. Well, maybe, if you insist!."
And, of course, you knew exactly how to adjest for her. Great work! Not hard to see how you rode to Reserve Grand Champion.
Great job, Rebekah!
Becca we can see how natural it all seems with you in command . 👏👏👏👏
I really enjoyed learning about “ giving breaks” and “Re-setting” … I have two of em 🦄 🐴.. and I didn’t clearly consider this way of thinking… Thank You Bekah ! 👍🐴
Very impressive young intelligent girl! Very good at explaining everything, nicely done Becca!!
You are a naturalist with horses, just like your dad 😊. Horses need more intelligent, caring and kind people like you to teach others how to teach with patience and positive attitude.
What a wonderful trainer and teacher you are Becca! Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I think I could do this myself you made it seem so easy. Keep these informational videos coming, I'd appreciate it. 😊
Awesome job young lady! ❤❤❤❤ that's how to learn, one step at a time..
GOOD JOB BECCA! That was a pleasure to watch. I like that you worked the exercise with two different horses of different ages. Very educational!
Rebekah, you are an incredible young woman. Kudos to you parents for raising such a special daughter. The animals you work with and care for are blessed in your hands.
I liked Bekah teaching us how different horses learn at different rates . So True !! 🐴 { got it !
🦄 { what ?
most of my journey been w ONE horse . Was shocking , the different mind set w my Second horse when I got him 😳!!! All horses do NOT think alike.
🐴 { I’m The Smart One .
🦄 { What ?
1. I learned more 👍🐴
2. I thought this horse caught on fast 👍🐴
Nice job Becca, she is a beautiful horse and seems to be gentle. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤❤
You’re a good Horse Listener Becca ~ being so aware of what your horse is thinking- you become One with your horse 🐎 and a great trainer
GREAT job Becca !!!!
She's a natural and get the result She's looking for. Disciplined in her manner of handling. Great to see and learn how it's done.
Yay Rebekah! So great to see the bond you have with your horses)) Very composed for someone of your age!!! No pressure, everyone watching, being filmed and the puppies helping too LOL
Thanks for this video. It's awesome 👌
Great job Becca!! She seems very willing to learn!!🐴💞😍
Dad taught her well. Fantastic job😊
🙋🏼♀️Hi Becca! You are such a great horsewoman! You're also a great teacher - showing us exactly how to get a horse to do what you want them to do. 💐
So well done Bekah! You have done an excellent job both with the training and (more importantly for me) telling us about what to do and why to do it. Thank you! Would love to see more of your work too :) I especially liked the point you make at the end - when you said that for that horse, that particular amount of training was enough for that day as she was learning at a different pace to the other horse and that is ok.
I love the compliments and comments of the people on here. I don't believe I could say it any better.❤❤❤❤ Everyone have a great day! Thank you Rebecca. 😊
Same! We are loving this community that is being built here🥰 Thank you everyone!
Great video Rebekah
Great job Becca!!♥️👍You have the touch. Not many kids at your age have that kind of commitment with horses you have. ♥️👍😊
That was very interesting! I never seen anyone train a horse to do things before Bekah did an awesome job! (i like the unique spelling of your name) With the horse & explaining to us how she's doing this the first horse was like she said more sensitive & responsive & learned very fast!,that was 😎 COOL! & the second horse being older was learning too 🙂👍❤️ just a little slower great video!🙂👍❤️🐴 I'm slowly learning 1 thing at a,time & I very much appreciate yall taking the time & patience to teach us thank you 🙂👍❤️🐴 (I think we are called green horns?) (Beginners) that's ok 1 thing at a,time -,I love your channel! I've learned more here than I have in a lifetime thank you!
Good job Becca! God bless you.
Cricket is pretty too! She was getting it! You are very good!
This was a great video.. my favorite one of all I have seen of your family's... you are a great teacher you break it down well and we saw the easy progress
Becca, you did a great job on this teaching video! I've had four hip surgeries on the same hip and I thought I'd never have horses again because I wouldn't be able to mount. I WILL look for another horse because of your video. Well done, young lady!💯👍🥰
Go Becca !! You have the touch !!
Awesome job!!!!
Thxs Becca, I was wondering how that was taught.
Well done Rebecca, what a great lesson. Thanks for the video. Have a great week end.
The horse love y’all. Pretty cool
Great video Bekah, good to see the two different horses and to see your understanding of their different abilities to learn, it’s all about making your idea their idea. You are truly a talented young woman, both training horses and humans, I feel the latter may be more challenging😂
Very patient.
Nice video Beka! Very informative, nice job!🤩😍
Amazing training! I'm so proud of you ❤
Great job, Bekah!
Great job with her.. so I watched this video last night and I went out and I tried it on my girl this morning, so what do you know within 10 minutes she was siding up to me. So now I would love a video of you teaching her how to sit. 😊❤
That was amazing! Wow! Great training. Is it doggy day at the ranch? Or do you have like 10 dogs? I like seeing them interact with the horses! Both seem comfortable
Hello from British Columbia Canada
🇨🇦🖐👍♥️🎨🖼🐖🕶🚐🦝🌳🌲🤴🐻🤠
Well really enjoyed that thank you xx
Great job Bekah, your dada better watch out or you’ll be taking his job 😆
47.7K subscribers and counting. Well done!
Bekah great job. I think Cricket is part mule! 😂
👍👍👍 Well done!
I do apology for writing her name wrong in a prior video, where she cared for the mare and the newborn foal. I really didn't want to insult her. Thank you for mentioning that she is written "Bekah" and not "Becca" like i wrote 😑
Again, for her age she is really passionate and educated. For someone like me who doesn't have any clue about horses, it's amazing to see how to train and behave. This is exactly what i like in real horsemanship. Its the way to communicate with a horse. I also want to highlight what she said once in the video. She did mention it's important to keep working on the "friendship" with your horse, which i feel, is the key ingredient in horsemanship. She really has a great personality and i hope, we will see more of her lessons in the future.
Everyone who reads this, have a great day, stay healthy and happy
Thank you for mentioning the correct spelling I miss that video now I will correct my spelling as well thank you so much🙂👍
Amazing!
Great job Beka! You are a natural! Which mare is this? She’s very pretty.
One smart horse!
Good job Bekaha
Interesting. Badically they are learnig to pivot on the front end, it seemed to me. Consistency is paramount, I see. Well done, IMO.
Dad heard me watching this video and thought Bekah was Emeri! You guys do sound similar lol
Those puupie kill me ❤😂❤😂
Puppies
Very impressive Becca. I like that your doing videos also
Wow, this was Amazing.....How counterintuitive it seems, to tap them on the very side to want them to step towards and not away from 😮 i learned something new today!!! What age would you think would be ok to start this at? I have a Yearling that has learned everything i have thrown at him so far! I am happy to have found you and am now Subscribed! (Came here for your mare foaling yt recomended you) ☺️👍
Amazing!!!
When will there be an update on the rescued mare and colt ?
Way to go Becca!! She’s listening to you so well ☺️ May I ask how she received that scar on her left (to me) side?
Scar? She does not have an scares. I’d say it was dirt or sweat you were seeing. We used a phone to film this so it
Wasn’t the best lighting.
@@homesteadhorsemanship oh, okay. I’m sorry. Perhaps it was sweat or the lighting. It is most noticeable at @4:35 behind that small leather strap that hangs from the seat of the saddle. Being a momma I wondered if horses get stretch marks 🤷🏻♀️😂 . I know absolutely 200% you guys would never hurt an animal so I’m praying my question didn’t sound offensive. I’m very sorry if it did. I’ve not been around a lot of horses so perhaps what I was seeing is normal. Thank you for letting me know 💜
Impressive!
Now, you can start your own channel.
I was thinking the same thing a few days ago! 🤗
Luv your family
Nicely done Rebecca!!!
I'm sorry I Don't understand. I'm trying to figure out what you are wanting her to do. If we can see a picture of when she did it right. But thank you Rebecca. You are very smart. I am a novice. When it comes to horses.
You are not alone. I just lead my horse to the block and get on. If not quite right just go round again. Done. I think a little more reasoning why at the start of the video would have helped. Maybe its a 'Western thing"? But a good presentation style all the same. Keep going!
It took me a minute to figure it out too so you’re not alone…but she failed to say she wanted her to step over on her hind quarter toward her. Of course she is wanting her to step over to be mounted so I should have caught that right off but I didn’t because I don’t use anything to mount. She wanted No forward or backward movement which she controlled with the reigns. The fence blocked her from stepping with her hind quarters to the right. Once the horse took her first step left with her hind quarters she released the pressure. I had to watch it two times to realize that lol.
How about an update on the little foal and momma you got from the horse auction? Do you still have them?
Yep! Just gotta get a video done. It’s been raining here, as soon as it clears up we will get a video done.
We keep seeing videos about the Clydesdale everyday so we are wondering what happened to them
I’m new to training. Why would we not reach over with stick and tap on the opposite side of her rump for the step towards. Most things I have learned have been to use pressure to cause a step away. Would that also work? Thanks!
👍👏
❤️❤️❤️
SHE IS VEREY GOOD
She was Born a Cow Girl❤🥰❤️
🤩🫶🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕
My mare would rather walk over me then do anything I ask her to she is really big now. I have shrunk from 59 only being 53. And I can't even get on her without something to step up on. She will not line up with the mounting block or stand appropriately for me anymore
You are the boss mare !! Teach her ! Watch Bekah for tips , this is good. #longtimehorseowner😅
I think the terminology should have been step over not step up because you are telling the animal to do two different things at once. Your tapping and pulling back on the bit. You want the horse to be taught something that was strictly forbidden in any horses I've been around and that is too crowd someone. That horse would of been kneed under the gut or hit so fast it's head would spin. Or worse it would of been sent to slaughter for crowding and stepping over during mounting. Back then if you could not climb on a horse or swing up from the ground you were considered too heavy to be on a horse. So I'm glad I seen this video and what people are doing these days. That old school horse is wiser than you give her credit for. She's a been there done that horse who has probably put up with more kids and inexperienced people than you think. Someone could beat her to hell and back and she is not going to crowd anyone. Someone could slip mounting and end up with a 1200 pound animal standing on their scull. So seriously this to me is training a horse for an overweight or disabled rider who can't mount. Any horse taught that is going to have problems if they step over on experienced riders. Just seeing stairs being used is like seeing kids getting participation trophy's for nothing. The world has changed a lot for us old timers.
I'm not sure about this exercise your trying on her... she doesn't seem to understand what you're asking and she doesn't seem to like it either 🤔
First lesson made a lot of progress by second lesson you don’t even have to tap
Ok that's good 👍
The poor horse had no idea what you wanted her to do.
Then why did she learn to do it?
This horse had never done this before so there was a point of confusion where she was trying to figure out what Bekah was asking. In any learning that is always an aspect. For humans and animals. She learned very quickly once she caught on what Bekah was asking. Bekah was really pleased with her😊
@@homesteadhorsemanship Bekah is amazing. Obviously that comment was probably made by someone that never worked with horses. I got my first horse at 17-quarter horse mare, stubborn,STUBBORN. If I only had the skills of Bekah back then. 🙋🏻♀️💕
oh yessss …. you can always tell who owns horses vs visitor-just petting / dude ranch ridin’ folks..… by the comments 😅. Great job Bekah !!! 👍🐴👍 I enjoyed this video and I learned . 👍🐴
She is amazing young lady with so far to go. Well done becca
Getting horses to stand completely still went mounting is very important many a rider have accidents or can die at the mounting block and allowing their horses to walk off went mounting. Very important video x
Awesome job Rebekah!!!
When will there be an update on the rescued mare and colt ?
