Burn the Sun is probably in the top 5 best progressive metal albums of all time. It's perfect. This song indeed a big highlight. Too bad you guys parted ways John, but nevertheless what you guys did with this album can never be matched!! Oh, amazing drumming demonstration.
I remember Ark very well, being them a prog band they have a feature more than other bands of the genre: they had a lot of groove, and John's playing is a big part of that. For those saying prog/prog metal can't be groovy, I just say listen to ARK!
That was exactly what we shot for, fat groove rock band but strange song structures so labeled Prog. If you listen to Burn The Sun, the guitar sound was modelled after Angus Young;;;for real. Also always no matter how complex an arrangement, always hit them with a killer chorus and groove under it. Thanks for the comment and thanks for listening.
Please do some playthroughs of ARK with "real" sound studio sound. I would love to see that. I never knew you play so hard. Burn The Sun is a top record
John, was at the San Francisco show of malmsteen when u played instrumental as jorn wasn't available yet to play live. Malmsteen did the cut throat gesture to mats, I could tell that version was over that night. Good news, u guys got Tore who I've always loved and the amazing voice of Jorn. All in all, great trade. I also met u at a drum clinic in Atlanta at a prog power years ago. U signed everything. Thx again and cheers John
If there was a band that was pure technical progressive, and an awesome one at that... it was Ark. I can only imagine what perfection would you guys make, if you continued playing and recording.. :)
Thanks John. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks for Burn The Sun. One of my favorite albums ever. I bought it when it was released and it is still one of my treasures. Timeless masterpiece by all of you, guys. Thanks again. Saludos desde España.

The playing is freaking awesome as known, the cymbals sound quite nice but due to the miking the drums kind of sound pretty tinny and unfortunately not as good as they do live..
He is so technically weak that he has played with Malmsteen, Ark, Symphony X, James La Brie and literally hundreds of other acts and he travels around the globe doing live sessions, recordings, masterclass and presentations of his books about... guess what? TECH FUCKING NIQUE :D
What an idiotic comment. Hey buddy I saw you photo and hate the way you look when your not playing. next time do something constructive with your time like practice. May be someday you can get somewhere and leave your basement and then one day some jerkoff can write something stupid under your videos. J. Mac
1. Sir, you ignored the first part of my comment. Burn the Sun is one of my fav albums of all time. MASSIVE respect. 2. It was meant to be taken with a bit of humor (hence the xD xD) :D 3. It just looks to me like you threw posture and moller out of the window. I can but guess (since I'm no doctor) that your cervical spine and joints are taking damage due to the way you approach the instrument. This is what I meant. 4. Having said all that. I repeat: Massive respect. I can but hope that my career will be half as successful as yours.
@@andresbermudez8498 Mollar out the window? My God man Chapin was one of my teachers, stop. My techniques are all used to get sound and feel, there is a reason for all. .When you play intense music you cant do it like you, there wouldn't be punch at all. I watched your vid man. To play extreme volume without burning out my left hand technique was invented and posture is for groove, getting low and deep. That is that. Glad you like my music, that is what you should be talking about.

This is one of my favorite music from ARK, and the drumming is absolutely marvelous. Many Thanks for posting this video John.
BURN the SUN= timeless masterpiece.
And John, you work on this one is just amazing!
I miss ARK
watching in 0.75 is beatiful
Your job in Yngwie Malmsteen; Alchemy, is amazing..

Burn the Sun is one of my favorite albums of all times. Everything is just PERFECT.
Love your drumming on Yngwie's Alchemy album as well.
For years I've been looking for this video. Now I'm finding it coincidentally in a god-forsaken area of UA-cam with 26k views. What the hell?
Then I´ll recommend you this one: ua-cam.com/video/4nHPxZZ7ZPk/v-deo.html 2,5k views, 13 likes - it´s a shame!

Thank you. I have plans to do some Ark videos for real because 20th anniversary of burn the sun coming soon. Thanks for listening to my baby....Ark.
@@JohnMacalusoDrums I have listened to the album probably 1000 times
@@JohnMacalusoDrums the best move will be a reunion with John and Tore :)

Nice work man!!
ARK RULES ! MOST UNDERRATED BAND EVER !
BURN THE SUN IS THE MUST !
PS:THAT CHINA RULES !
Awesome band, players, songs, albums.
Indeed one the best metal abums of all time
Amazing :-)
18500 is looking at a drummer without music. Nothing more than just the song.
Then we all know it's very very good!
Another proof that is not the size of the drum that makes a good drummer.

BEST ALBUM EVER!
great drum great music great singer
Really simple setup, but very powerful drumming. I like it.
Burn the sun is a MONSTER album!
Why?! Why they had to disband.
I just heard that the album got cancelled.....I feel like if a close friend have died.
I WANT NEW ARK ALBUM! PLEASE!!!!
Great song, great band, great musician!
Incredible groove, GREAT talent. John is THE MASTER.

A reunion with Jorn would be one of the highlights in the metal universe !
@MyLifeChanger Nope, he didn't audition for Dream Theater :-P
fodaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa sou seu fã pra caralho toca facil
Haha, exactly my question!
Not bad! : / u do need a new snare! That one sound like shit! And new hihat stand! Lol
another great comment. Not Bad! I love it. His drums set is big, he must good, a very smart man I see. Grazie Eddie.
i bet when he was a kid just like all of us our parents said dont make that much noise but since hes a pro drummer he can make all the noise he wants
@toxickissduo INDEED!
what a strange posture... all crooked
Not crooked at all. Put the motion in and the motion comes out. Do you like what you hear? If so, the sound and groove came from the motion.
His technique is awful, yet his sound and ideas are genius!!!
and your technique??? That's funny.
He is so technically weak that he has played with Malmsteen, Ark, Symphony X, James La Brie and literally hundreds of other acts and he travels around the globe doing live sessions, recordings, masterclass and presentations of his books about... guess what? TECH FUCKING NIQUE :D
Davide Cardella Lets not leave out his work with Alex Masi, 1991-92’
He's my uncle I am Joseph macaluso
I love the drum parts he came up with and the way he sounds on the album, but god I so hate the way he looks when playing!! xD xD
