I teach concrete design at University (in Architecture, not Civil Engineering), and, while this in situ/precast debate comes from time to time, however, the most trendy debate among students nowadays is to completely get rid of concrete at all because of sustainability reasons. Most questions I get from students regarding choices during the structure conception phase are related to how to avoid using concrete at all. I'm telling you this because I truly believe the cause is that concrete-related companies and businesses didn't do their homework of properly showing to the public that concrete can be more sustainable than other options. At the University we can do very little to counteract this craziness, when the "concrete is not sustainable" motto is the trend everywhere.
imagine if the students actually questioned the climate agenda BS. then they'd be really thinking. IF ONLY we had educators who also used their brains..

Concrete is part of the "Stone" / masonry constructions elements (Such as timber, steel) my question to anyone who is questioning the sustainability of of concrete is.." Have you ever been to Rome? Egypt? London? I ask this question because the only buildings and or monuments that are still around today from 500 or 2000 years ago are concrete and or stone or reconstituted stone (concrete) . 98.5% of timber buildings cant last longer than 100 years. So the question then becomes... At what end of the candle are you measuring sustainability? Imagine if every road or freeway was made out of timber!! well guess what .. it used to be, but we upgraded to a more "long lasting" "sustainable" solution 100 years ago .. concrete.!!!!The same shit thats been around for 3000+ years!!!~ Its about as sustainable as you will ever get.
Ask them to do the maths .. how much plantation timber would it take to replace the world's concrete consumption, and how many planets would we need to grow that timber? Or how much steel would it take, and what would the climate impact be? Concrete's CO2 impact is because we use so much of it. The solution is not to replace the concrete with something else, because all the alternatives are worse. The only way to fix this is to build less. Architecture students are in a great position to push for building less. The easiest way is to change our time spans. Instead of building a 50 year house, build a 500 year house - that's an instant 90% reduction in annualised embodied carbon.

for a terrace application we want to use precast slab to minimize cracking can you let me know if there are water proofing additivies to add during pouring the precast so we have a inbuilt waterproofing system

Hi Rayahn, if you are just starting to look for your first jobin engineering Apply to all size of compains and taylor your resume for the compain. starting at a small firm gets you in the door, from there it becomes easier. I will likely do a future video on this
Hi Clark, shipped transportation does come into the cost greatly typically I'm areas far away from precast yards are insitu as it is much more efficent to transport concrete in a liquid or un mixed state.

Could probably find optimizations if you could make the factory mobile to fabricate modules with in-situ concrete. ie. if the factory could fit inside a series of shipping containers, you could stay busy since the mobile factory would have 4 walls and a roof to protect from bad weather.

Hi Ghost storage of the green precast panels needs considerations, it would save on transport but at the cost of space.
A canopy on wheels which can be shifted over the tables is all that's required
