I'm currently hunting for a shiny Skwovet. I feel your pain watching this because I'm running into similar issues. The darn devil squirrels just keep disappearing when I approach them. I also have lost count after about 2,000 encounters. The only plus I got out of this was accidentally coming across a shiny Nickit. So there's that at least.
I was shiny hunting this little demon squirrel recently and I could never get it. I started also hunting rookidee and wooloo since I needed a dubwool and the entire rookidee line. I got both and still haven’t got the squirrel. Taking a break now to masuda method some Milcery
Why did he have to reset his hunt for the squirrel if you close the game does the murder method chain end? I have been murder method hunting pinser but have been turning my switch on and off is this bad and ruining my chances like in let’s go?
Yeah sorry the previous 2000+ number was for the Eldegoss (you can see in the "previous" section at the beginning that it has the same number of encounters)

Hamish Fisken he didn’t reset, if you’re talking at the beginning, the 2500* number that was there was from the previous hunt no the squirrel.

@@KangasKid18 other than caves, I have fewer problems on foot. The squirrels only run if you approach from the front, the bike just has bad handling
