Hi John , thanks for your candid review of the DRU. I am from the indri team and we have taken a note of your concern about the packaging and the smell emanating from that, we will work on changing improving the packaging with better substrate. The Dru is matured in select ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of 7 years in our subtropical climate.
Thanks Madhu for tuning in and appreciate your concern. I really enjoyed the Indri Trini and based on that I also bought the Dru, Diwali, and also your single cask in the wooden box. All of which have great presentation. I’m hoping over time my Dru will open up to reveal its beauty. Cheers 🥃
John wow I can't believe your take. New car smell is a wonderful thing. Wish I could keep it all the time in my truck and even believe it or not my entire house ❗💪
This is a whisky of the year contender, for me. I'm really loving it and I think it's great value for the price, 65-70€. Weird, I got a lot of tropical fruit, with and without water :P Agree that the box has a strong plastic smell!
Hey John, it sounds like the Indri 46% version maybe better over this Dru release. I don't have access to Dru or any other Indris but I did grab two bottles of the original 46% release when I had the chance. I am down to the heel of the first bottle and it's been really good so far. I may just skip this one even if I can find it based on your initial thoughts here. As for the bottom rubber spongy thing, I didn't get that in my bottle's tube so the tube is odor free and no smell issue whatsoever. I hope Indri doesn't stray too far off the first release because that is a good competent whisky that they put out.
I really enjoyed the Trini and have a backup as well. All the US packaging that I’ve seen have the black foam inserts. All of their products are reasonably priced so in that regard I’m not disappointed. Cheers 🥃

Great review. It's been interesting watching the Indri wave go through the whiskytube community.
Indeed it has… that’s why I had high expectations for this offering.
