Having served in an rifle platoon, USA Army, I get it. Not everyone understand combat soldiers sense of humor. I know about new lieutenants and old timers. The cat was a good touch. Soldiers develop a relationship with animals. Reminds them of better times. Good for moral. Overall nice job. Soldiers are them same no matter which side they are on. Thanks Star Media.
Johnny: Thank you for your recommendation. It's terse , well said and convincing. Glad to learn that the movie rings true to a military sensibility. I was one of the lucky ones who was not drafted to Viet Nam. Graduating high school in 67, perhaps a third of the males in my class of about 200, was in Viet Nam by the fall. +Purple burd They do such a good job. I got tired of and stopped watching my own nation's TV serials long ago with only token exception. What was that series? 24 Hours? Way back there. Its message-is-the-media was torture is okay. When that started I was quitting TV watching. I'm an internationalist generally and into Russian and other cinema anyway all the way back to the silent stuff. This Star Media Russian series story telling encompasses much depth and human relations in the story telling. I've seen best practice interpersonal relations, socially positive morality, the complexity of deviance, and a fine character portrayal of the selective sociopathy that makes family a person's elite over all other people (A very anti-social phenomenon) in just finished "Spies Must Die". One of those mini-series made me just about cry at the end. Oy! Here come the suffering Russians? We all suffer, the Russians may just not deny it as much as some. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
+Tony Smith I was more stuff on my laptop than I do on TV,and yes I agree some really good material is coming out of Russia, even a great fantasy movie, a Conan the Barbarian type movie 'Wolfhound of the Greyhound Tribe', often shortened to Wolfhound, you might be able to view it free on putlocker

Soldiers in this series dont seem to react to bombardment. Like they dont realize someones shooting at them. Get out of truck and look around like its a strange phenomena, or sit under the nearest tree and roll a smoke.
from kenya...i am really enjoying the russian ww2 series...how come all the political commissars and doctors in most of the series wear spectacles....just asking...!
I read a book by German soldier who was prisoner of war in Russia. He wasn't deployed on Eastern front, but fought in battle of Berlin. He wrote, that wearing glasses were kind of status symbol in Soviet Union back then.

And the Commissar in these films is often a pervy, rapey, creep. That said, reading the writings of soldiers like Pavlichenko, Shanina, and others, they were also dependable, supportive of their soldiers, responsible, and level-headed. So like other officers, not always bastards.
The harrowing, tragic and comradely support is captured in this episode with such poignancy. Thank you.
Omg Russians sure know how to make brilliant movies. Love all and enjoy. Thank you for adding English sub.
