Looks like a blast. Could be fun if your boss gave you specific tasks/missions/goals like “we are hosting a kids night” where you have to only give flyers to specific types of characters. Thanks for the great videos!
I can relate with your addiction to game jams so much right now, in the past I've worked on huge code projects but I never can find the motivation to stick with them for a long time. Lately I started doing hackathons and I've become absolutely hooked lol. We need to form some sort of rehab group
The art looks amazing and the gameplay actually sounds really fun. Once I'm done with my schoolwork I can't wait to start playing! Great work as always.
2:15 in the background I can see a little knight so I didn’t know you were into hollow knight but honestly that’s probably how you got recommended to me
but i kinda dont see a problem with sponsors that the product itself is free, in this case core is actually a really good gaming thing, but i also kinda understand why people get a little bit annoyed to listen about the same game everyday
This game looks super, but one thing that stood out is (at least that's how it looks) the scales of the pixels ingame compared to the pixels on the mouse cursor.
i feel like this could be used to make a really cool game with a political vibe a-la papers please. like, youre running around giving out pamphlets for a revolution or something, you cant let the cops catch you but you need to get as many of the people aware of your cause as possible in 50 days for a general strike to be successful or something, otherwise you dont have enough protesters and get crushed by the state. you could have some fun character interactions with npc's both while doing the main gameplay loop and during a downtime section where your character gets lunch in town square before getting the bus home.
8:45: I'm younger than any of those games and I still recognize them. (I can't tell if you picked really un-obscure examples or if I'm just a huge nerd.)
I'm mainly commenting to help boost your numbers, but I really appreciate the effort you put into your videos. Not only are they entertaining, they're somewhat inspirational and informative. Keep it up!
i absolutely love the player character! the design is really cute and simple, and the animations are really nice. i especially love the skates - it's such a good visual, just having this kid skate around the city throwing paper airplanes at people.
Your game was so much fun vim! Super cute style and love the little community elements :) Having the help screen in the beginning was a really great decision! Also huge thank you for your feedback on our game aswell it has been super helpful and was really nice to see the game being played :D Keep up the great work my friend!
Came across your channel a week ago and have been binge watching your videos. Thanks for sparking back up my passion for programming and game design. Something ive left behind since i finished college and started working, oh and Construct 3! Perfect platform to re-learning the craft again
You are such a motivation for me.. Like I can think of a few jams that I joined after watching your videos and feeling motivated and I'm in love with your art style.. Keep making amazing videos Sir!
Just an idea for anyone who reads this, when talking about possibly adding an indicator that points toward the closest table; A good approach might be to design an indicator that will be a desired distance away from the player in the direction of a table object (essentially preparing to make a ring of indicators) and setup 3 different indicator sizes, or possibly even icons. Then, run through the array of tables and put the 3 closest tables, in order, in to a temporary array and show those 3 (at least 2). Showing the closest one would still make the player feel obligated to stick around the only one they can see. If they can tell they are close to others, they might feel more encourage to explore that way and form a mental map.
A simple fix for the not knowing about the other flyer stands could be to have the player say "I'm out... I think there are more flyer stands around the town."
The fact some jackal on the net can figure out what multimillion dollar corps can’t is amazing you advertise not by drowning someone but giving them only a few to someone
This video, though, I use GDevelop 5, helped me make the top down shooter mechanics that I needed, I was having trouble with the arm, and this video, without even saying how it’s done, helped me somehow
Hi Vimlark idk if you are going to see this but i played your game and when i got the "roll up flyers" boost i could throw flyers when im in a buliding to the outside. basically i can throw flyers through walls. awesome game though :D
Next time update the game and select random specific people to hand the things to (or make it a gamemode). Do you remember "Around and back"? Well, make a circular spot where npcs come to (another gamemode idea) and make it so you cant move and have to had out the papers to the people that go pass you or stop next go you before they go away
me: watching the devlog to gain some insight into game dev also me: oh, there is a bug on 14:25 - one flyer thrown, two customers got flyer = quota rose by two. You can never stop your habits (and i am a tester by profession).
8:34 Here in Michigan we still have arcades with the classics in them! I've been to them! 8:50 1st one. Idk. 2nd one is definitely DK. 3rd is pacman but OH WHY DOES HE HAVE TEETH. 4th is I think space invaders? Did I get them right?
Just to make it clear when you publish your game it will stay on core Only, if you think about making it on other platform .. You cant or that what i know And another thing Your game is 10/10
Hey since you have a bunch of very short game ideas/mini games, what if you put the best ones together and created some kind of meta story to connect them (didn’t that 198X game have something like that?) like the story could involve going to arcades and at arcades you play all the mini games! Just an idea!
I'm curious, do you publish the .capx file of your games? I love these mechanics and I was thinking it would be cool to use the event sheet to learn from. Mostly I've been looking for ways to learn how to make dialogue and menues, and I feel like this came could help with that.
Making the game title “papers? No thanks” was a missed opportunity
lol yes
@Bau Cap. no
Papersn't, please
@@BGDMusic or rather,

I agree
The games are: Out Ran, Danky Kang, Plaque Man, and Home Invaders.
I enjoy how all five of them have two-word titles
Out Ran? It wasn't pole rotation?
@@protowalker The poster was based on OutRun, and he said it when he made it.
Dude you legit made me laugh out loud. Thanks, have a great one.
home invaders lmaooo
8:48 oh god oh god vimlark what have you done you put teeth on Pac-Man!
It's actually mac-pan
CrunchMan
Plaque man, confirmed by Vimlark himself.
I think it’s kinda cute. :)
*evilly laughs*

your games always look so good ! also cant wait for the game jam :D
The art looks amazing and the gameplay actually sounds really fun. Once I'm done with my schoolwork I can't wait to start playing!
Great work as always.
2:15 in the background I can see a little knight so I didn’t know you were into hollow knight but honestly that’s probably how you got recommended to me
If you are talking about the yellow knight then that’s a character from one of his games but there might be something I missed.
I also do the wife test!!!! She goes "aww" I know I'm going in the right direction
14:25 - you gave one flyer to two people :D
Its not a bug its a feature
I really want to do a game jam, but these days I'm trying to focus on my Devlog game... I better finish by November! The town looks great!!
Jams are great because you can put all of your energy into a project, and it always ends JUST before you start finding it tedious.
Core is getting the new rAId sHadOw LeGEndS
@SlavJuan Yes
Download SponsorBlock and problem will be (mostly) gone
but i kinda dont see a problem with sponsors that the product itself is free, in this case core is actually a really good gaming thing, but i also kinda understand why people get a little bit annoyed to listen about the same game everyday
Core, Raid, Raycon and NordVPN
@SlavJuan I think it was a joke.
It’s always so good when I see a company supports a small creator as regularly as CORE. You’re doing really well, keep up the good work!
That's some nice art!
I like the retro feel of the game :o

Throwing fliers is a really interesting idea for a game. It looks like you nailed it, especially the art!
2nd vid of yours I've watched. You have such a warm personality! Easy sub
Your pixel art is truly sublime 👍
*When he sai the sponsor I had a heart attack then he said core and I was so happy*
Story of my life XD The game looks so nice! Will have to give it a try asap :D
13:00. When the robots stop moving “wait that’s illegal”
The extra work that you've put in really showed on this one! The game looks really good. Congrats
There should be a hardmode where you don’t know if you’ve given a person a flyer, but a screen-size map so you don’t lose track of people
8:43 My guesses:
• Pole Position
• Donkey Kong
• Pac-Man
• Space Invaders
I got the last 3, just because of how iconic they are, but I didn't catch the first one.
I don't recognize them from experience, I'm just a nerd.

The game poseters at 8:48 are pit stop dunky kong pac-man and space invadors
Very nice game and video :)
14:25 You can see that one flyer is taken by two characters who are in the same spot
I am in love with this channel, you helped me get started with pixel art. I have animated 2 characters in photoshop, thank you so much Vimlark!
Good choice on the PICO-8 color palette. I'm actually participating in VimJam and using PICO-8.
Great dev Log gam jams are the best, keep em coming! 😅
i loved the old arcade paperboy, this looks great!
This game looks so good omg. Your every gamejam game looks so good and polished. You are pro at this. So good!

Wow you did a great job with this one, I love the art!
Hallow Knight monkey vs Sans Monkey

I have tried the game myself and its awesome! Great pixel art!
Nice vid, played them game yesterday and it was a blast. You're definitely getting a lot better at game design/coding

Lmao I know this is two years old but literally 4:30 into the video I am also going OH OH IDEAS and starting to go overboard xD
Love watching this while participating in a jam
Lets go! Another game jam by the Great Vimlark!
8:50 I'm pretty sure the games are f-zero, donkey kong, Pacman and space invaders?
For the retro game posters, the 2nd is donkey kong, 3rd is pacman, and 4th is space invaders.
If you know the first one, your probably old x)
The game is extremly fun!!!! It inspired me!!!!! Very nice channel
It looks super good love the art, love the concept
You really outdid yourself with the art on this one:)
8:49 Left to right:
Outrun/that one racing game Sega made I can’t remember the name of
Donkey Kong
PAC-MAN
Space Invaders

Vimlark is the big daddyo of game jam good times. True story. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Core failed so hard as a platform when it could have been great. Not allowing custom assets was its downfall.
Not bad. Although I dont know if it is a bug but if two ppl close to each other we can get them both with one flyer.
You should make this a full game with more stuff and fix the issues!
Just to make it clear when you publish your game it will stay on core Only, if you think about making it on other platform .. You cant or that what i know
And another thing
Your game is 10/10
10:38
You mean farther?
Oooohh buuuurn.
love the game btw
Really fun game and nice job. Wish it could last longer though
This is my first time watching, Construct 3 looks like an interesting game engine to use
you should have made arrows pointing to the table
I'm not old, but I see Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and... some driving game.
Bruh, those content-sponsor transitions are way too smooth
What extension/plugin is that? to have the viewers walking around the stream like that? Its so cool

16 bit systems could use up to 256 colors, not 16. So if you try this challenge again that's something to know

Kinda wish a full arcade style game like that. Like paperboy for nes.
The sad thing is that I got a discord notification before the youtube notification...
Would be cool if inside the houses was a "restricted" area, meaning that guards will chase you out and if you get caught some kind of punishment :)
Now make it Multiplayer. A rival arcade. 2 guys per arcade give out flyers. and 1 bully per arcade who got abilities to distract the flyer guys.
my guess is the game posters are pole position, donkey kong, pac man, and space invaders
is it possible to make the tables run out, that way they're incentivised to go to another area
You should make a speed Run mode for the game it would be so fun
This looks much more fun than the actual job was ^_^.
Core is really the Raid Shadow Legends of Game Development
