this 100% worked guys, the only thing he left out was that you got a pull the white plastic trim with the circuitboard off it also has a wire connected I didn't have to take it off you won't either just move it out the way.
Thanks guys I just had this happen to my 2004 v8 treg and I thought it was the modual for the trans I'm glad I found this video had my treg towed to my house and I tryed reseting the cpu I had went to get gas and when I switched it to park didn't noticed the shifter moved to park but the screen showed it was on natural and when I got it towed it switched to drive and been stuck on drive every since do I just went anbought a new car for the moment but definitely going to switch out the shifter this week 😀
I have the same problem and your video helped me release the key out but when I try again the same thing happened and had to release it the same way again ...my question is how is it going to be fixed ? Thanks for your help
easiest repair is to get the switch out and tape it closed. this will require you to flick the ignition on and off after moving the vehicle. it will not generate any alarms/lights. the shifter mech either snaps or gets loose and I believe you really need to replace the shifter to resolve the issue to factory spec.. hope this helps
Thanks for taking the time to post this. It's exactly what I needed to know.

I appreciate the reply ..as I'm not mechanically inclined I'll show it to a mechanic but now at least I know what the problem is ..thank you again
Thanks - Nice to be able to help!
Where you able to fix this? I think it would need a new shift lever / selector however is there a workaround?
I'm having the same problem how do you fix it thanks in advance (tia)
How do you solve the problem permanently without buying new parts , simply just for it to release
