Does one gain independence once the announcement is made showing a desire to be independent/ sovereign? Or is independence/ sovereignty gained through the acceptance of the opposing side? Just need some clarification, mahalo!
Hi Mr. Raymond its Barbara, I watched the video and did the homework. I learned that Locke wrote that people are born with natural rights to "life, liberty, and property", and that people create governments to protect these rights.
I learned that even though our founding fathers were considered the most scholarly and fitting for the job, out of them some were better writers than others, an example being Thomas Jefferson and how he was chosen to write the official document rather than anyone else.
Hi Mr.Raymond I watched your video and lerned that the first contonental congress took place from Septebmer 5- october 26, 1774 at Carpenters Hall in Philidehipa , pensylvaina. ; ) (4 period)
the congress offered Britain one last chance to avoid war, sending king George the third the Olive Branch Petition stating they wanted peace. the king rejected the petition. I did the guided notes.
I watched the video and i did the guided notes. Something i learned was that the famous battles before the Second Continental Congress took place in Battle of Bunker Hill.
hi, im Abraham Rodriguez from 5th period and today i watched your video and did the guided notes. A fun facted i learned was when John Adams was incorrect about the day that we will celebrate in the future. he wrote to his wife it would be July 2, today we celebrate on July 4th.

In today's video I learned that the four sections of the Declaration of Independence are: the preamble, natural rights, grievances, and the conclusion.
I learned the reason to why the chose Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence was because he was a Virginian and could right better than the others.
It is a shame they never mention the fact that they used many parts of the Dutch “Plakkaat van Verlatinghe” of 1581 in which the Dutch declared themselves independant from the Spanish King Fillips II. So, it is a downright lie that there wasn’t an older indepence declaration. That Dutch declaration is considered to be a groundbreaking document for the history of self-determination and basic human rigths. It is funny how that important part is just left out when mentioning The Declaration of Independence ….. not nice or fair, but certainly historically incorrect and false not mentioning it.
I was born and raised in BOSTON. I love this!
