I have owned a Deluxe Tinker for 16 years. I bought it because the pliers were such a nice addition to the regular tools. The pliers aren’t big and heavy like those found on multi-tools built around pliers, but they do a nice job when you need pulling power or holding power greater than your fingers can provide. The pliers on mine work as well now as they did when they were new. This knife is also known as the Victorinox Swiss Army Multi-Tool, Tinker Pocket Knife , Red, 91mm.

The best urban edc Victorinox in my opinion. I have a champ and huntsman in my bug out bag but this the most useful balanced with weight and portability. Can't beat it for the money. I do miss having a tiny screwdriver on the corkscrew though 😕

I've also recently been sold on the usefulness of those pliers when I picked up a Swisschamp. I just use the opener layer of any victorinox to handle hot oven racks though. You can easily pull out the rack with the can opener, and push it in with the cap lifter. Works especially great when using the toaster oven and I can't be bothered to look for things.

Happy Wednesday Mark. I use the Deluxe Tinker as my Home tool kit along with a Motorist
The DT is a 4 layer SAK but the plier layer is sort of double width & makes it as wide as a 5 layer SAK & for me too large for comfortable pocket carry & I dislike carrying SAK's in pouches on my belt. True that it doesn't have a saw like the Huntsman which I pocket carry but I have a saw in the Motorist which is my other Home tool kit SAK

Hey Mark thanks for making my wallet lighter 😂 I purchased this the other day to ad to my collection of SAKs. Found a decent deal on Amazon and bit the bullet. I've been a fan of the Tinker series for years. Have and carried the Tinker Small, Tinker and Super Tinker, like all of them. There's no substitute for the 91mm scissors ✂️ not Gerber, not Leatherman. The Surge may come close but still if I had to bet money it be on the SAK. So this will be my first SAK with the pliers 🤔 I hope they prove as useful as the scissors or at least close. I usually carry a LM at work and I work as an aircraft mechanic so access to tools there isn't a problem but I was thinking about their use around the house or maybe as super tweezers at work when you're trying to grab a really small object or perhaps soldering something. So we'll see. I'll let you know how it goes. Should arrive in a couple days. Take care thanks for the video 👍

Enjoyed the video. I think the smaller model with the pliers was called the Mechanic? Have you ever considered the Cybertool M as an alternative to the Deluxe Tinker? It's expensive and thicker, but if the Phillips is really important, that's the best Phillips from Victorinox by a mile (plus a bunch of other bits). BTW, I'm planning on trying out the new Leatherman Bond coupled with the Huntsman as an EDC, as soon as I buy the Bond. And when I don't need the saw, I could slim down to the Compact plus the Bond. Remove the scales and use a Dremel tool or file to remove the head of the central rivet, push it through just far enough to remove the corkscrew. Do the same with the Deluxe Tinker but remove the screwdriver and swap. The hardest part is finding thin brass rod of the correct diameter because Victorinox don't use a standard diameter but it's out there. Cut a length slightly oversize and use it to push the rivet/pin through, Being soft brass, it's easy to form the rivet head easily and once one side is done, trim the pin to length and form the rivet on the other side. It's a lot easier than you think and if you warm the knife in hot water before you remove then they fit back perfectly.
Another mod on the Deluxe Tinker is to remove the scissors, this gives you a knife called the Mechanic that's no longer available. Change to a corkscrew and that's probably unique. Removing a layer means you can reuse the pins.

The main reason they use aluminum liners is because of the weight. I have an old
four layer Victorinox knife with nickel silver liners and it is significantly heavier.
I am not sure why at home you would not use a actual screwdriver. and save wear
on your multi tool knife which is more expensive.

Probably because I’m lazy and don’t want to go to the garage and search for a screwdriver. Most of the screws I am putting in my house do not require a ton of torque. So I don’t think I’m really sacrificing this tool in anyway. I agree I have seen a few of the older Victorinox Knives with nickel silver and brass liners and they are significantly heavier but I would probably just prefer to have stainless steel liners.

I always hear comments about people saying that don't need the corkscrew because they don't drink wine, but it is so much more useful as tool than the philips and not mention the stuff you can store in the corkscrew. The Deluxe Climber is the same as this Deluxe Tinker, just with a corkscrew and would in my opinion be a better choice. Better yet would be a modded Explorer with pliers, or a Yeoman Mechanic

What do you use the parcel hook for? Never found much use for one - even tried carrying a parcel with it once and it didn't even work well for that. Seen Felix' video but not convinced - particularly if you have a knife with the pliers too...

I just bought one today. I have to get used to the plastic scales, I’m an alox guy. I think Victorinox is missing the boat. If they gave us the option of stainless liners we’d pay more money for the knife. I can’t stand the aluminum liners.

Do not use the pliers as a wrench, on any small multi tool. Not designed to be torqued hard and once you screw the spring up, it's useless from that point. Don't ask me how I know this.

Bro..., no offense..., it's a great review of the Deluxe Tinker itself, but FFS do your homework when ever you do a review video about all the models and it's names/characteristics you mention on the video..., because you got most of other names wrong and the works more as disinformation than information, and makes you come across as not knowledgeable enough about the different products and unprepared to make a credible review.
Don't take it as a negative critic, but as a constructive comment.

@@markcoffman494 Thanks for the video bro. I've watched it before. Very good research. However he didn't used tha same actual Small Tinker unit in all those Ep's. The one from the pilot up till Deathlock was one with no key ring tab and toothpick and tweezers missing. On the Black Corsage, Tough Boys, and some other Ep's it had either the tab with the ring, or just the tab with the key ring removed. The list of SAK's at Macgyver online is not 100% accurate to what was used, by far. The list we have at the Swiss Army Knights Forum it more accurate, but still have incorrections and it's still incomplete.
Just from memory the models used where:
      From Victorinox:
      74mm
      -Executive
      84mm
      - Small Tinker (with and without key ring)
      - Tourist
      - Sportsman
      - Recruit Economy
      - Golfer Original
      - Salesman (Small Super Tinker)
      91mm
      - Standard (with and without key ring)
      - Spartan (with and without key ring)
      - Hardwood Spartan
      - Tinker
      - Compact
      - Super Tinker
      - Climber
      - Camper (with and without "Camping" scales)
      - Hiker (on the Atlantis movie)
      - Fisherman
      - Huntsman
      - Mountaineer
      - Cheap Chinese 5 layer knock-off SAK in the last Ep.
      111mm
      - Picnicker
      - Adventurer
      From Wenger:
      - Handyman
      - Pocketmate
      - Commander
      - Classic 11
There maybe a couple more i don't remember at the moment.
On a few Ep's is impossible to ID it
On-set they may use sometimes 3 (even 4) different models on the same Ep., for different shots, or even different angles of the same shot
