I just listen this historically inaccurate and outdated dialogues and characters and think how much Domina is better show than this. Even though it is a feminist propaganda, greatly overplaying Livia's role in historical events, while making Avgust the great to be just a petty, narrow-minded titrant. It is still miles and miles better than this. Especially the way it portraits the social commentary about slavery and social injustices in ancient times in a subtle way, not biting you on a head with it, like in HBO show Rome.
I, Claudius's historical supervisor attention to detail is astonishing. A multitude of events in this show is sourced from Suetonius, Cassius Dio and Tacitus. Robert Graves did a good job in historical accuracy. Yet, it's a novel, not a history book. Poetic license is understandable for entertainment, the writers did good in both. Could you point out what historical accuracies you're talking about?
"It sounds as if there is now only Agrippa."
Love Livia!
I, Claudius is one of my favorite miniseries. I loved that show!
"Oh, I care very much whether he lives or dies."
Yeah, haha, but not in the way Tiberius thinks.
What a terrific series this was.
If HBO is listening...Sian Phillips for Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns.
George Baker yay
Sian Phillips was fantastic
VHS was launched in September, 1976.
But was not in common use until the '80'ies!
He didnt say before it was in common use. He said "before VHS existed".
Which is incorrect.
