It’s up there with the best Karl. If you count how the old blocks are flowering it probably is the best overall. There is some nice flowering around the area generally too.
Hi J Fontana. As I mention in the video, the stats come from the Australian Macadamia Society. To answer you more specifically, they publish updates every quarter in the journal that gets sent to all members. It’s not publicly available although it’s also not embargoed, so I can talk about it without breaching copyright.
Well how about selling direct to Australians and not over sea's. Because i haven't had macadamia nut's fresh from the tree in over thirty years. Be great if we could get fresh nut right from our own country.
Hi Ken. I remember the days when you could get macadamias in string bags at the fruit shops! Unfortunately the market for those died away as buyers preferred kernels already shelled for them. You can still buy nuts in shell online from various suppliers though.
The processors should form joint ventures with retailers in order to have an influence on the retail price and they should also have an aggressive discounted online marketing campaign.
The real problem is that the supermarkets and even smaller chains all sell macadamias as “home” labels where they can control the retail price completely. There are direct retailers but their offerings aren’t compelling or well known. I’m not sure what the answer is, Mike.
Hi again Ron! My standard one is a GoPro Hero7 black. Sometimes I do a 4K video on my iPhone. It’s fun to experiment. The GoPro has a better microphone and image stability, but the iPhone is a newer HDR camera. This particular video I shot for the first time in 2.7K on the GoPro, which is capable of 4K but not with image stabilisation. Glad you like the videos either way!
@@shaagarey469 I’d just be guessing, but since my babies get fruit at under 2 metres you could probably keep a tree at that height. You’d want to let it spread sideways a bit or your crop would be very small.
Hi Simson. Sorry I can’t sell established trees and I’m not licensed to sell small ones. Try contacting a macadamia nursery (Google one that can ship to you). Thanks.
I did two years ago, before the threat of the varroa mite restricted hive movement. The video showing that is here: ua-cam.com/video/TE8XHXmwL0w/v-deo.htmlsi=EZCFNIpLKZFot6e_
Hello, I am starting to cultivate this nut in my country in Cameroon but I have a problem getting the seed because there is still no one who still cultivates it there. Is it possible to buy seed? at home and will you send it to me?
Hi Pats. There are strong laws against sending living plant material overseas from Australia without a licence, so I can’t help you. The closest countries to you which might be able to do that are Kenya and South Africa. Growing macadamia from seed is not recommended - it is much more productive to get a grafted young tree of a specific variety. But I appreciate your difficulties in getting started.
Aldi is leading the way, bringing the price down and increasing sales. $32 a kg is getting to the point macas are a substitute for inferior nuts. The big opportunity is India and Indians. They love nuts. One of my friends is from India and I look forward to giving him some of my nuts. Hopefully Lindt will bring out a high class version of the Picnic bar.
Spectacular flowering. Is it the best you have seen?

Just wondering where you get your stats? Would be great to reference it a bit in your videos if possible?

What a wonderful site 😊
Thank you Aparna.
Macadamia nut trees look like Christmas trees with snow on them when in full bloom 😊
They really do Paul. With a fragrance, too!

Just wanted to ask what type of camera are you using for your videos, that I always enjoy

What is the minimum height I keep a macadamia tree pruned to, in a small backyard and still have it Fruit?

Hi Karl. Aldi Lismore had raw macas for $34 today. They’re not big enough to keep Coles and Woolies honest but maybe one day they will be.
Frustrating times. Chin up and press on . 👍

The QLD nut farms are over pricing the nuts per kg, most people call this steeling. Have a think FFS!
I'm sad to hear this. Would you be able to give me some examples to look at? It might be a good basis for comparison in another video.
Coles $57 last week.
Disgraceful. Thanks for the heads up though.
