I can't wait to see the Kicking Horse Canyon project completed. The existing highway is a real black mark on Canada's highway network in my opinion. The new design is quite nice.
Very scenic drive otherwise, and nice work on the video.
Though I will state, I really wish BC Highway standards were a bit better. BC uses a substandard width right hand shoulder, using 2.5m instead of 3m, which means that any disabled tractor trailer will always impede the adjacent lane, instead of being able actually pull completely off the side of the highway.

This brings back memories for sure, but we were going the other way through this after almost all twinned highway. A lot has definitely improved since I went through last at least.

I’m really excited when it comes to the upcoming design, which I see as what could be one of the most complex sections of the entire TCH, along some of the most scenic of the route.
I’ve definitely notice that BC likes to keep things small, which I could imagine would be fitting for some less truck-heavy routes, but it becomes a problem along the province’s main route. Though the will to do it is likely really small, it would be really great to provide a standardized guideline when it comes to the core TCH routes.

Yeah their narrow shoulders on their highways remind me of freeways built in the 1950s. It seems like they're really trying to reduce costs when it comes to building freeways and expressways in mountainous areas.

Brilliant video. 6 of us took the CP in 1984 from Toronto to Vancouver and then drove to Edmonton and Kicking Horse Canyon was a blast. I was driving and our van was probably hated. I applaud the new highway but it does take the fun out of it for us tourists! That redesign rivals the roads in the Alps. Thanks for the memories!!!

I really wished I had the chance to drive down the narrow winding roads through the canyon back before any upgrades were done, but I'm still glad to have visited before all the upgrades were done. Very excited to see the canyon after all the bridges are complete

Wow, this is just such a scenic road!! Would have driven it in 2020 if it weren't for the border being closed thanks to the government's covid restrictions. 🙄
