It was recorded in the autumn of 1995, as Diane Warren first copyrighted it on September 12, 1995 as a demo and by December the song was finished. Toni didn't compose it, Diane Warren did and David Foster produced it. She actually hated this song and was reluctant to record it.
Yes. It is a quite typical Diana warren Latin ballad frankly it is a quite mediocre song. It is Toni’s unique tone totally elevated this standard commercial ballad to a totally different level. Diana warren tried to continue this kind of success by writing more Latin pop and this kind of magic did not happen again. If you listen to “ after tonight” the song Diana wrote for Mariah Carey, you know how mediocre her lyrics and melodies are. Actually Mariah’s self written Latin ballad “ my all” is way better than Diana’s works.
I think it has something to do with her lupus/heart condition! It's probably hard for her to belt out a whole song like she used to!... just my opinion tho
