Stevan, I want to raise another aspect of the mental game that many athletes ignore, but you seem to have mastered on your way to a world title. In sports, I was always taught to be humble and to respect the preparation, the hopes, the dreams, the heart, and the determination of other athletes, particularly those that I'm going up against. I was taught to keep my mouth shut, put my nose to grind, practice like I'm the underdog, and take nothing for granted. I won't name names, but we've seen too many athletes fail in their bids for immortality partly because they think that cockiness is confidence, humility is weakness, and superior skill assures victory. It seems that humility, mutual respect and urgent preparation are old fashioned and irrelevant to some athletes. But I see them in you. How amazing it would be to hear you speak on these things!
What Novak said is absolutely true. He had to work hard on his mental game early in his career, he was actually criticized for being somewhat mentally weak. He would sometimes blow up at a bad play or bad call and let it throw him off for long periods of a match. He also retired in the middle of a couple matches where it seems like he was physically able to continue. Now he is considered one of the most mentally tough players ever and although he still lets out his emotions, his ability to perform under pressure and adversity is unrivaled.
All of This is very true. Although I have not wrestled at the level you have, I have boxed at a high level and I’m a firm believer that meditation is a huge part of centering yourself before competition. Great content champ

Thanks for saying this. It’s alarming to see the terrible sportsmanship that is being promoted these days.

“Do your best, and God will do the rest” That’s gold my friend. I will definitely use this in the future
Coach told me wrestling is part physical and part mental. If you think you will lose you probably will. Your mindset is important.
Stevan is the man! Thank you for another great video! Amen 🙏

Is the Wrestling program at Penn State how it is because Cael Sanderson is Coach there ?
great video
I feel like i hear you wrestle yourself in wrestling rooms often especially compared to wrestling refs. But all good points!
I'm convinced Penn State coaches use Ecological Dynamics and the Constraints-Led Approach to design practice.
I visioned myself getting a tech on the bus and my first match i got a tech
How do you make your practices deliberate? Could you delve into specifics on what you do?
The best book on it is “The Talent Code”
Do you, and possibly your dad, aspire to become a d1 coach?
What are the dad's wrestling credentials?
❤
Wtf
I’m a 45 year old college wrestler. 🤼 I appreciate this video.
