Hi! Long time watcher, first time commenter. I’m an English teacher (currently 8th grade but have taught Kindergarten, 6th-8th, and 11th & 12th). I’m also a long time lover of Shakespeare- Macbeth is one of my top five favorites and we study it every October/November. I have been at an all girls school for a few years now and they love it more than any mixed gender class I’ve ever taught. I love it for the witches but the murders are fun too. :) She might enjoy Titus Andronicus as a 10th grade read. It’s the most brutal of his plays and my favorite Shakespeare of all time. It’s so brutal it often gets ignored for production these days but it’s well worth the read. Julius Cesar might be a good fit too. Not so many murders or vengeance themes but that betrayal is pretty gut wrenching. Hamlet is pretty fun story wise but he’s such a whiner…might not want to follow the Macbeth power couple up with all that melancholia. I’ll be excited to see what you do choose. Thanks for your channel. I get a lot of inspiration for book pairings and further reading recommendations for my girls from all the work you do here.

I would try Hamlet or Othello. Othello is fun and tragic IMO because Iago is just so EVIL. Also, reading it as Iago is gay and in love with Othello gives it an interesting twist. I was a high school teacher for 16 years and would love to give you my TpT unit on Hamlet if you're interested! I've been a fan of your work for a few years now. Can't wait for your 10th grade plan videos to come out!

Thank you! I'm leaning towards Hamlet, because I'm more familiar with it. I'd love to see your unit!
