A video from Cambridge Spring Wordfest 2011
Since its unveiling in 2003, Maggi Hambling's iconic Scallop sculpture on Aldeburgh beach has never been far from controversy. The striking tribute to Benjamin Britten, drawing thousands of visitors each year, continues to polarise opinion. The fascinating story of its conception, construction and the unholy row that erupted on its unveiling, is now told in Hambling's words: robust, funny and moving.
