This video hits the nail on the head. I have year old Lexus hybrid and there are so many electronic systems on it I wouldn’t even try to troubleshoot or fix it…and I’m an engineer with a masters degree! However, it’s easy to blame the engineers for this phenomenon but really it’s the marketing and management folks that push this. The poor engineers just have to fit 50lbs. in a 5lb bag and do it as cheaply as possible. Market share rules…not user-friendly design.

Very informative, this is akin to what Apple is doing with their products.

It is this sort of engineering and tactics that prevent me from purchasing, or even getting eager for, a new vehicle.

This wouldn't happen to be the car listed on cars and bids now is it?

I would think twice buying any vehicle after 2010.

Modern vehicles aren't intentionally made so the owner cannot work on them.
Its a byproduct of OEMs always trying to integrate the latest tech in order to increase sales. Period.
Not a conspiracy. Putyourself in their shoes, you'd do the same.

Honda and Toyota are getting there as well. Open the hood on a new Civic or a Tundra, same junk as Euro cars of yesteryear. Small displacement turbocharged engines. Emissions and cost-cutting are making all new cars disposable. Stick with pre-2010 cars if you want to do work yourself.

Its a very expensive throw away tech. Stupid. They are a part of the problem. Why not make a vehicle for the common man and women.

Its funny that you picked one of the biggest piece of shit cars that no mechanic would want to work on . Not all modern cars are that hard to change the oil on.

    Dear sir
Let me tell you something very very important
My friend.. Do you know stickers..!!?
Now adays these brands like Peugeot , BMW , MB , Audi , MG , Land Rover , Discovery , GM and all all..
Only stickers available for the above brands in their assembling sights , the stickers only looks original in real beautiful attractive shape..
Now they finished there is no more manufacturer for the above brands in their original country.. only the stickers..
The 99% of the above concerned they're importing a complete range of all their fittings from Asia of a very cheep sources with in a 3rd quality with no design nor technical formation or support , Mainly they imports from Chaina , Taiwan , Koria , Vitnam , and The funny thing sometimes they receive an engine bigger than the engine room which needs additional alterations for managing force fittings which going to be hard for any mechanics hand to do any services.. unless removing entire the engine outside the car..
Just believe or not an engine aluminum oil pan fall down from my hand it breaks in pieces , it was made of clay apoxy mixture..
I believe the western concerned forgotten the value of their standard.. they are running to loss
