    Great tips, but I really want to get that vest. I have not been able to find it. Any way you can put more of a description on the vest in the comments?

      I just spoke with the owner of Village Lighting and the vest is still in the design phase with a small “very small” chance it will be released this year. He was actually asking me what features I would like to see in the new vest!

    Sweet vid. I was intrigued a while back about starting this as a side gig for the winter months. I had put a few ads out and got a lot of good feedback a couple winters ago, however wasn't insured at the time or a company yet, so only ended up doing one house lol. Anyway it was cool and all, I didnt put an ad up this year, but really trying to figure out how to start it for next year.
    So I guess from all of this, my question is; how do you start? Do you buy a ton of lights before hand and basically rent them out for the season ? (Includes install, light replacement and take down)?
    What I had done for the property we did a couple winters ago, was tell the client the type of bulbs to buy same for the universal clips, then we went to the property and installed the lights for him, this did not include taking them down.
    How do you go about it?
    Thanks man!

      Thanks for watching! Your question on how to start a light business might need a whole video dedicated, I doubt I can answer in the comments. But when starting out, buying a lot of inventory; Yes and NO. Buy bags of clips gutter/shingles, strands, but only buy the bulbs you’ll need for the next job. Also set a goal to start hanging lights in October, that gets you enough time to make sure you have the supplies for each job. But each job will cost you 2-$300. So asking for payment upfront is key I have always done that.
      When starting our have a plan and stick to it, like only offer c-7s and only offering Warm white, green and red, just to name a few. And only stock up on those lights so you wont have left over inventory that could have been 2-$500 out of you pocket. Anyways hope that helps.

      @@LawnThumbs oh forsure, its definitely a question that I can imagine would be hard to sum up in a reply, there are some videos ofcourse out there. Just good too hear and see other peoples take and strategies and try to figure out what may work best for us.
      Thanks alot for the reply! Deffinetly got some info that I didn't think of, example: buy the strands then the bulbs fornthe jobs, makes total sense.

    Thank you for the excellent video. You have any recommendations for hanging lights on the second story of a condo? The roofing is ceramic like and not easy to walk around the roof as most the ceiling is steep and very limited spacing.

    • @LawnThumbs
      @LawnThumbs  3 роки тому

      As far as ceramic roofs; if I need to walk on them I tell the customer I can’t do it. The Homeowners usually know how fragile those are. What I have done is just do the lower level of the house. Sorry I don’t have a better solution for you, and thanks for watching!

    Lol. Make sure the ladder is secure but mine isn’t. Then he said don’t put the ladder by an exit bcz the homeowner could back out and hit it. What homeowner doesn’t know you out there putting up lights?

    Liked everything except your ladder placement damaging the shingles & drip edge on the rakes. As a professional roofer, this is annoying to see others destroying my pristine work.

      This kills me as a gutter guy too. Put the hooks on the ladder. 1 piece of dented gutter and all profit is gone.
