I work in AI data centers, nvidia has not monopolized the industry. They simply make the best readily available chips. Our customers demand H100 chips, not whatever AMD or other competitors offer. Now with the release of H200 chips, we’ll be offering those as well because that’s where the demands are. The other companies need to up their game to gain an edge otherwise nvidia will corner the market.

You guys clearly have no idea how DOJ works here. DOJ investigates NVIDIA to make sure the company is not abusing/misusing its current status (monopoly) and that's very healthy for the competition. They are NOT sued for their success.

google has google docs, which is pretty much identical. If Microsoft would have patented the entire interface or layout then they would have been in there. Oh, and don't think Microsoft has not been sued, they were collecting lawsuits like stamps before.
Microsoft was sued as ´Monopoly’ years ago. They came out fine.

Successful companies like NVDA are investigated because of their high quality products.

Jensen Huang denied any subpoenas Wednesday evening. The story might be rubbish, just like the SMCI Short story - people are learning to make money by manipulating volatile stocks.

So turns out Nvidia says the news was False and NVDA did not get a subpeona.
Investors punished NVDA because the yoy revenue growth projection was "only" 80%, an amount that is still above the average of stocks on Wall Street. If we compare it with AMD whose financial fundamentals and stock performance are still below NVDA whose business is also almost similar to NVDA, the punishment did not happen to AMD where it was seen from AMD turning green after the sell off day but what happened to NVDA was that it continued to fall compared to the previous day.

Nvidia denied getting a subpoena. After the Blackwell delay that didn't happen, starting to believe these stories a whole lot less.

I think this is where you got it wrong Parkev. Big players/people already knew about subpoena and start selling stock and led it to a crisis. Beside that you have a great content.
When you have a product nobody else has, naturally there isn't competition. I'm sure AMD or some other company trying to develop😅 the same thing was behind it.
Nvidia came out and said they did not receive a subpoena.
Up over 1% now at 1240pm ET. Anyway, I am pretty well diversified and not just in Tech.. Over time the biggest gain is based on your overall asset allocation and then on keeping costs low and limiting tax on gains, divs, etc. But yeah, picking great stocks at the right time will speed up that journey to wealth.

Reminds me of all the IBM Antitrust cases that went on for DECADES, as IBM dominated in mainframe computers. Case was dropped without merit.

In some cases, ASICs can replace Nvidia GPU's. These Asics are by definition application specific ...
We have past examples of dominant players: remember Microsoft Windows 95% of the PC market vs Apple iiOS 4% n the late 1990's? Microsoft was not broken in two pieces, but had to review some of it's business practices.

Thanks for joining as a member. To your second point, not necessarily. Market cap = share price x #of shares outstanding. Nvidia is buying back shares, so the # of shares outstanding is likely to fall between now and 2030.
Just one question though Professor and other knowledgeable beings, how did we go from 300ish in three to four years to continuously falling apart. It’s already down over 18% this past week . Is the future prediction still reachable? On the short term, what your prediction of NVIDIA till around Christmas ? The Numbers have proven that NVIDIA can deliver but they are not going to 2x their Revenue every Quarter and when they don’t it’s going to be another waterslide down to Earths Core. I think 200ish support in three Years is already very optimistic.

Their market strategy has first mover advantage and superior technology - that is not a monopoly. There are other companies that offer parallel processing capabilities but none offer the same level of turnkey solution. This inquiry if anything is simply to educate the us government.

Imagine being so good at providing valuable products that the DOJ will start questioning your business. I'm liking NVDA even more. It's not their fault that their competition couldn't catch up.
Unfortunately the market is unpredictable, even if all points to a good investment does not mean it is. Too many investors react on news and rumors and bring any stock down, plus you have the short sellers. Nothing is sure.
As for me, it’s all about manipulation by the “haves,” those who are in power!

Well ya, it makes sense to penalize customers who have buyers’ remorse and changes their mind about a product after helping set up their systems. Charge them with restocking, processing, cancelled orders, disassemblies etc. Nvidia should have something similar.
It is not correct. The problem is the class. All the targets that analysts set and were happy with if hit were actually hit. But that didn't satisfy their greed. NVIDIA may go down a lot.

I hold a different view point, compared to the other comments. I think they meant it. Think about the stock is always overshooting, and then the bubble comes. By doing so, the authorities make the stock more rational and healthier, anyway, lower then the intrinsic is better than higher. Now, ask youself, can you pay for the burst if no one controls the price? If you bought the stock long time ago, at a good price, and you don’t need the money now, you should not be worried, because it can be a good long term investment (maybe not so long).
This is why short sellers are not illegal…. 😃
