I think Jolly (and their second channel The Korean Englishman) helped Hongjoong learn English because they usually have Korean subs. Josh majored in Korean at school and his wife is Korean, so their channel is really about introducing westerners to Korean culture. British High schoolers trying Korean food is top tier entertainment XD
Bruh Hongjoong KNEW not to bring any of the other members! ESPECIALLY Yeosang! Yeo would've been giving Stank Face City the whole time on EVERYTHING 😭😭🤣🤣🤣
this is genuinely one of my fav Ateez interviews ever bc of how genuine it is. Josh and Olly seemed to really get along with and understand the humor of San and Hongjoong. A lot of the comments on this video are also casual viewers who came to respect San and Joong bc of how they behaved in the video. I just love it
The original vid of San and hongjoong is what got me interested in ateez and what led me to ultimately having hongjoong as my bias. can’t wait to see Nigel’s reaction!
16:25-16:35 NOT “how do you grow that??!!!” (I hope he knows pickles are just fermented cucumbers!!!😂😂😂👀💙🦋💙) (Lived in NC my whole life and I’ve had at least one pickled egg, how have you not??!!)
21:20 That's exactly how my mom learned English! As a kid, she watched the Peanuts cartoon and The Fresh Prince of Bel-air to help her learn. RM has also said the same thing: he learned English by watching Friends! Listening to foreign music can probably help you learn certain words and phrases quickly, but song lyrics aren't always complete sentences or literal thoughts. TV scripts emulate real-world conversations, though. That's how they help you learn to speak colloquially and fluently :)
Learning language by content its work soo much i learn korean by my own with ateez content and i can understand what they said little bit better then before...... Love your reaction to ateez
21:21 yes! It actually works! I watch k-dramas (sometimes or when I have time) and while watching them, i would be doing something else. For me, this works like a charm. I would learn words, sentences, and phrases. Or just by listening to a song or show in a different language, you can learn at any time. No matter if you’re a slow or fast learner, you can learn at any time :)
21:36 it does help like english is not my native and i used to see content and reactions videos in english to improve it since i cant practice it everyday !! ☺️ thank you so much for helping us to learn❤️
I learned english by listening to music in only that language, it took a couple of years to really learn and then I read all the books on grammar and tips I could find. This was before social media really took off so there was less resources, nowadays it's really easy to do it you just need time.
"how do you grow that" ...Nigel, you know pickles are just fermented cucumbers right? you can pickle and egg and an onion by fermenting it in some kind of vinegrette.
Learning language by watching people speak it really helps, that's how I learned/& still learning English and now it's the 4th language I'm learning other than my native language 😅
This video was the best birthday present ❤ Josh and Olly are awesome. Their channel Korean Englishman is so cool. Josh married a Korean woman and speaks Korean, so they introduce people to Korean food and culture. They're actually pretty famous and have done videos with other idols, some of the Marvel cast and were even acknowledged by the King of England 😁Most recently they did a mini series on their channel where they took a few college boys who had been part of their "introduction to Korean food and culture videos" since high school, and enrolled them in Korean military training for a few days. I definitely recommend reacting to those videos, I think you'll have a blast. Here's a link to the full playlist if you're interested ua-cam.com/video/GYLps1Hy1As/v-deo.html
The fish and chips with salt and lots of vinegar is an experience and it's delicious if you like that sour and salty taste. 10/10 would recommend. Putting some lemon on that fish. Is great
Watching shows in the languages you are learning lets you pick up on how words sound and the tempo ppl use etc etc, but its important to speak with it sometimes and to understand what theyre saying so its like watching and studying at the same time, I'm learning korean (after 10 years of listening to kpop) and ive def learned some things subconsciously and now that I'm actually studying its a nice low line to stand on compared to have never like listened to the language
Nigel, you do know that pickles are just pickled cucumbers, right? 😄 you just throw stuff in vinegar and then it’s pickled.. no pickled eggs were grown in a lab 😂
16:25. "How do you grow that"? alright full stop. Hey Nigel? Do you know how pickles are made? 👀 Years ago, my bff once me how they grow pickles and i still think about to this day so....i fear this may be the same type of situation. 🤣
I’m American but I swear my tastebuds are more British than the British and I can confirm that is exactly the right amount of salt to put on fries (or pretty much any food).
honestly I've barely studied korean since I started learning it 5 years ago. I taught myself the basics but most of it I picked up by watching dramas, shows, kpop content and all that. it really does work but not sure music is the right approach
21:20 it helps fr, like for my own experience with japaneses language. I learned a lot when I was watching a japanese streamers more than the textbooks itself. but yeah, of course it needs to be polished with native speakers as well.
It's all about input, input, input! I've been consuming Korean content for 15 years; I've never taken a single formal class, barely ever skimmed a textbook, but I can understand the gist of most conversations. Obviously I need to be making a more intentional effort to learn more thoroughly and be able to have conversations, but you really need to be absorbing and cementing what you're learning by listening to spoken Korean (or whatever language it is). It's just a part of practice, and the more you listen, the more you'll start to understand. Lyrics can be helpful, but you should also be taking in real conversations and hearing the language the way it's used in real life.
This was my first time watching your video with new headphones and the sound effects were so deep in my ears, it was a whole new Nigel video experience
21:21 yeassss Nigel! English is not my first language and I learnt it through watching a lot of content, reading books and playing games in English ! I think it makes sense why we can learn a language just by increasing our input bec that’s exactly how babies learn languages too !
As a British person, the only thing i like in this video is the chippy curry sauce lol. Unless you go to a dead ass fancy place, the food is rlly oily BUT if you ever visit Britain, absolutely have a chippy because it is one of the most classic new experiences you can get here, and you might like it
16:29 I don’t wanna believe what I’m hearing… you can’t grow pickled onions. You grow the onion and pickle them like you would a cucumber in order to get a pickle😭
You know, music is quite different. I can't understand it in my own language sometimes. But the channels where people just talking? Yes! That how I am learning english lol. It's not hte only thing you should do of course, you need to learn the other things like grammar spelling and so on, but that sure does help with vocabular
you don't grow them pickled lol its a process after. The pickled stuff is defo an acquired taste... I'm not keen but most of my older family members like it. Also, that was an ungodly amount of salt and thats not normal lol. Also, when I ate mushy peas growing up I put sugar on them. They're usually just bland honestly so the sugar makes it more enjoyable
So I think you didn’t understand, so let me explain it to you. "San" in Korean means "mountain," and literally, it translates to that. San’s parents named him that because they wanted him to grow up big and strong (if I remember correctly). His big sister is called Haneul, which means "sky." A bit more info about their names: Songhwa always says he is Mars because Hwasong (화성) is the Korean word for Mars, and that’s SH's name spelled backwards. A fun fact about Korean naming customs is that if you have two kids, parents sometimes name them with similar-sounding syllables or even almost identical names, like San and his sister’s names. From what I remember, Yunho has a younger brother named Jonho (I think). You should definitely look up their family trees they’re so cool and interesting, and the meanings behind their names are fascinating!
i meannn for me i’ve been learning korean for a year and watching k dramas now at this point in my learning journey it DEFINITELY helps me learn how they form sentences and the natural way of speaking & new grammar points. but in the beginning no it definitely didn’t help me 😭😭but u just gotta power through those devious times
I think you can somewhat learn a new language by watching. I watch korean shows for more than 10 years now and I can say I can mostly understand what they are talking about without subtitles although I can't speak the language. It helps when there are live shows that I really wanted to watch. 😆
You can't learn a language by listening to the music alone. You gotta watch videos and shows in your target language to really immerse yourself and help you recognize everyday sayings and expressions. It also does help you with your accent and pronunciation. Music only ever talks about a few things but if you wanna talk about things in your everyday life, watching shows/videos, or listening to podcasts is definitely the way to go. (Of course actually learning the grammar rules goes a long way too)
As someone born and raised in Britain 🇬🇧 you can’t eat a pickled egg or onion on its own, because I can’t 😂 it’s really good in a bag of crisps (chips for Americans 😊) or with a sandwich, it’s basically a something you have with a meal otherwise it’s REALLY overpowering for the taste buds 😂
Yes San`s hometown has alot of mountains, but his name litreally means mountain. His dad called him that cuz he wanted San too be strong, a comforting hill for some, and for others, an enormous mountain that they can`t dare to challenge. His older sister is called Haneul wich means sky, and San called his cat Byeol meaning star. ua-cam.com/video/Fn5Oyi4aZiw/v-deo.html
watch vids in others languages helps to improve vocabulary but it needs oral practice as well. I speak spanish and English is my 2nd language and i love to watch atz reactions cuz this way a keep learning
about the language thing: yeah it truly does help but theres an important distinction. it has to be normal spoken language. music doesnt help unfortunately :( i mean think about it... how close are you to understanding korean? but since youre around people who speak spanish, you know a little
"New experience" had me dying lol
That's Hongjoong’s response every time he doesn't like something 😭😂😭😂😭😂 “Uh….new experience”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love the high schoolers! Made me laugh, made me cry buckets
Bruh Hongjoong KNEW not to bring any of the other members! ESPECIALLY Yeosang! Yeo would've been giving Stank Face City the whole time on EVERYTHING 😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Yunho would have been a good third. Man eats everything 😅
Yeosang just casually spitting food out
yeosang would immediately spit it out and smile like this🙂like nothing ever happened
ㅋㅋㅋ
@@ichhimaii1956 YESSSS!!!

This is my favorite Hongjoong interview, he’s so gd funny lol
21:30 its true. Hahahah i learned it because of covid too. I think it helps to have Subtitles of the language you study, and an easy context
Learning language by content its work soo much i learn korean by my own with ateez content and i can understand what they said little bit better then before...... Love your reaction to ateez

omg i was so excited to watch this rn not realizing he used the premiere button again. still gonna eat this up when it posts! :)
When I saw this video as a baby atiny I instantly fell for Hongjoong. Man is my bias and wrecks me all the time.

22:46 SEE 💂🏻♀️ YOU 🇬🇧JOLLY 🫖 SOON 🗣️
21:20 it helps fr, like for my own experience with japaneses language. I learned a lot when I was watching a japanese streamers more than the textbooks itself. but yeah, of course it needs to be polished with native speakers as well.

Unc Nigel my favourite reaction channel reacting to my favourite food youtubers is a dream come true ❤❤
Welcome to the video that absolutely ruined that line in Halazia for me. LMAO. I can only ever hear "mayonnaise in my fantasy" now. 🤣
As a British person, the only thing i like in this video is the chippy curry sauce lol. Unless you go to a dead ass fancy place, the food is rlly oily

Watching UA-cam channels has helped me a lot to improve my English and Spanish, so from my own experience I can say that it works.😊😊
16:49 the only pickled egg i know is the red one put in hot sausage juice
U are hilarious Nigel!!! I enjoy when they do these videos it's good to try new foods.... Sometimes 😆🤪
16:29 I don’t wanna believe what I’m hearing… you can’t grow pickled onions. You grow the onion and pickle them like you would a cucumber in order to get a pickle😭
Nigel at the concert make sure to keep an eye on Chan, he said he will be looming for you
I love LeeMujin show but honestly can't ever NOT notice his feet barely touch the ground 😊
I just adore hongjoong. He's my bias. San is also my main wrecker so I love this interview sm
can't say about any other language but for english watching english language contents does help in learning that
You know, music is quite different. I can't understand it in my own language sometimes. But the channels where people just talking? Yes! That how I am learning english lol. i learned english by watching people play games on youtube. So much so that my english is better than my 1st language
It would be cool to see more ateez interview
I’m from London and mushy peas is awful so… LOOOOOOL surprised they didn’t try Jellied eels that would’ve been hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Hongjoongs face when he's smelling the egg reminds me of the cat compilations where the cats smell people's feet 😭🤣
I haven’t been able to hear Halazia the same ever since this video came out

Even though my family doesn't care about K-pop, they love Jolly/Korean English man. Showed them this video, and we quote "New Experience" constantly🤣
As a Central PA native, pickled eggs should only come with pickled beets. Then you can only eat the beets. 😂

Can you react to clik clak by babymonster?❤

Learn another langue by watching shows or content not music. It’s much easier.
