  • The Oklahoma Sooners run GT counter more than any other team in the country, and here are a few clips and my basic rules for running it that correspond very closely with everything that I have studied of the Sooners.

    I am the head coach of a 14-15 year old (8th grade) youth football team and I use a ton of the Sooners offensive running schemes. If u have a couple of kids on the O line that can pull and get to where they need to be, you cannot go wrong with this in ur playbook. I was not sure how to best use some of my smaller O line players and when I started using their speed to pull and kick out D ends and lead block everything really came together.

      What Cha say Coach, I'm a 12/13 y.o. H.C. for a youth team,, we arrived at the same place "Here" I use a lot of Sooners offense, I'm a big fan of misdirection systems !! Check out Coach Rick Darlington offense Apopka FL. ,, Also Catholic high Baton Rouge , the "Bucksweep" !!!! Add this to your explosive offense , we avg 35pts game !!! Was reading ur comment an wat Stuck out was "offensive running scheme's" this is why I pointed you in that direction !!! *Aggressive, Scheme, Finish * 3keys to our success !!!!!

    Would love to see you break down some K-State film of QB run RPOs. They have some of the best numbers plays going

      That is a great thought! Every time I saw them play over the last 4 or 5 years they have had some really interesting stuff. I’m definitely going to look into them.

    Coach, question about the 20 personnel GT counter with the other back headed to outside backer in the boundary. All those clips are against OKS (3-5-3), is it most advantageous against a stack? Or can you use that in a 4-3 look as well?

      ryguyw1 that is a good point about those clips being against okstate. Not real sure what their reasoning was on that. I do think it can be advantageous against any front. I would really think about using it against a 4 front if I saw the DEs were responsible to peel or would chase a back on the swing. If they hesitated on the back going on that track instead of squeezing and wrong shouldering that might create some confusion and make it where you get a kick instead of a log. That might get the defense gapped out and throw them off if they had been working squeezing the counter all week. If I saw the MLBs were chasing a swing or would soften on an arc from the RB I would base that front side end and pull the G and T for the LBs. Long answer but I hope you could get something out of the non coherent ramblings. Thanks for watching!

      Gotcha. Well explained. That all makes sense. I’m going to spend more time with it.Thanks coach. Appreciate it!

      @@ryguyw1 Coach explained it well, but the bottom line is that the numbers are still the same (with a variable being how the defense rolls that safety). When you see the offensive line (usually the center) pointing out players pre-snap, it's typically so that everyone is clear on their assignment (had Okie State tried to go to a 4 man front, you'd see the center set assignments to clear the other linemen). Coach broke this down as well as I've seen it done on UA-cam.

    Does this blocking scheme work on a five man front?

    • @coachescaviar8898
      @coachescaviar8898  4 роки тому +1

      Great question. It should be gap sound against most fronts especially with your QB able to read BS end. Now you just have to find ways to make sure your box is plus or at least neutral when you run it with different screen tags or passes to keep their safety's back or OLB's out of the box. Thanks for watching!!

      Charles Ward it could work on a five man front, but it’s not likely to work.

      it works against a 5 man front. QB has to read the back side DE
