Thanks for the video. I have had certain situations where the inside calipers are the only measuring that will clear obstructions to get an accurate measurement. This is definately in my opinions the hardest measuring instrument to learn because its all dependant upon "feel". When used correctly with the proper "feel" I would argue one can obtain very accurate measurements within 0.0005" or less when compared to other measuring devices such as inside micrometers.
I've spent time and will continue to spend time with millwrights/machinists of the Era gone by. Batteries fail when you least expect or devices fail ie human error. Point being I too have respect for the calibrated fingers that take decades to acquire. Thank you for an informative video.
what's the margin of error for calipers like these? it seems like there's a lot of ways to go wrong on technique, but i'm curious about how close i could get, barring major errors.
The margin of error honestly is the operator. I know people that can accurately use these calipers to 0.001" The trick is practice and patience. These inside calipers are great for checking the size of a grooves diameter.
