I'm upgrading from a Creality board to a 1.4 turbo so I can have more Marlin features. I have a pretty good coding background, so setting up Marlin to compile in Vs code was easy. I just wanted to be clear about the hardware installation. I haven't installed the board yet, I've just had it running with the tft on the bench. Your SKR 1.3 and 1.4 series of videos have been a big help, thanks.
@@Crosslink3D well, yeah. it is not very capable i imagine, mainly because the gcode uploads take SOOO long (according to some reviewers on YT). but what i think is the following: why not use the BTT cloud TF to upload the files and print with esp3d? would make a great video! ;)
Awesome stuff. Can't wait to use your videos to help me.with my 1.4 turbo install and config. My plans are to get the board installed and running before I do a bl touch or add the wifi ( which I also hear is a pain). Then at some point convert it to a hypercube designed like the Core A8. You know the Core A8 would be an awesome video if your looking for content! However if you dont think it is something you dont want to do I dont blame you. I can see that being a possible headache and heavy workload. I wish you the best and hope your channel really gets enough support to take you where you want to go. Good Luck my friend.
To upgrade my anet a8 plus with the skr 1.4 board - can i use the standard stepper motors ? i can read different opinions on the compatibility with the TMC drivers
As the LPC1769 is a overclocked version of the LPC1768 in this case it would indeed be a 20% increase in raw CPU power, Sifting thru the datasheet looking at tasks performance it would even be slightly above 20% increase in some tasks not all. Tnx for the review, Really informative!
would you be able to make a video regarding the SKR 1.4 Turbo installing BLTouch, WIFI and the TMC drivers vs UART... which are more suitable and are they needed? how to configure etc completely new to this but your videos have been very helpful this far!!
Is there any installation instructions and config files for SKR 1.4 for Anet A8+ ? I hate 8 bit Anet board :)) it is to limited with auto leveling enabled.
I would love to see a full upgrade from Anet board (on Anet A8 Plus) to a SKR 1.4 Turbo with TMC2130 in SPI mode, including the full graphics display that seems to be the hardest part. Please!
@@Crosslink3D thanks for your answer, I mean the stock display shipped with Anet A8 Plus ( something like this: www.instructables.com/id/Using-an-Anet-Full-Graphics-Display-on-a-MKS-Gen-1/ )
Good video Daniel. Hiw would one go about interfacing with SPI or I2C interface? Marlin config? Would you have to develop an add-on in Python or something similar?
You won't need to double the current, but you might want to bump it up a bit. Keep in mind that the Z axis does not do a lot of moving during a print so the current does not have to be too high.
What would you recommend me to improve a Tronxy XY 2 Pro? It is actually printing really good right now. I replaced the level sensor with a capacitive one and bed of glass. A direct extruder would be a good change? Which one could it be? I print ABS and TPU so I don´t use fan. Also using Cura 4.7. Bye.
I like direct drive extruders a lot but only have it on my AM8 and Anet A8 currently. I switched to the e3d Hemera, which is probably on the expensive side. What is your budget?
@@Crosslink3D Thank you for your attention. e3d is not available right now. I will look for it. I found that after leveling , when the printing starts the nozzle touches the glass so I have to tight the springs of the bed manually until filament comes out to save the printing. Does not maintain the info. With Pronterface can I center the nozzle in bed right? I saw a video for it you made, right?

I just wana let anyone who isn't aware that wifi with a esp8266/12 is going to be a very limited experience in both what kind of website or program it can run and the speed that data moves with it..... and honestly you can even use spi ports for LED's, might need to write your own libs for a board like these but its really not a big deal.... you can actually control leds with a esp8266/12 that is small enough to fit in the case anyway even if there wasn't a port to use it with the system.

Thanks! It’s so good to have you here!
Great vid as always. Answered the question I posted on the discord channel just the other day. :)
Awesome thank you!
You're amazing keep up the awesome videos. Way to keep to the roots of 3d printing. Great for beginners and more advanced users.
Ryan Poisson, great comment! Thanks for being part of the community!
looking forward to the ESP3D video! :D
good job, Daniel! :)
Yeah, love that already. It’s so cool to make any 3D printer WiFi enabled!

in the background you have your AM8 with a spool holder up top. Do you know the files for that one?

Cool idea

Awesome.. Thanks. I have a skr 1.3 and I think, at least for me, not worth the upgrade, it's for someone coming from a 8bit board.
Totally agree

Step by step loading Marlin???

Definitely not worth upgrading from skr1.3
Exactly! If you have the 1.3 stay. Otherwise go for the 1.4 Turbo. Why did they even bother with the 1.4 Standard at all?
Closed loop stepper has bad salmon skin effect. Not worth it unless you soley print functional parts.
