When you are trying to get moving again, are you starting in first gear? I find it helpful to start in second gear and slip the clutch. This lets me get moving and get up on the pegs quickly without having to worry about shifting right away.
@FatalityDiablo thats what you get when you ride these bikes how they were designed. They get muddy, sandy, cracks scratches and dents. Nothing a little water can't fix, or a good ride in the rain.

I dont like deep sand like that, gets everywhere on the chain and bearings and all the gaps of the fairing. looked fun thou :D
