  • @zravamrska

    Nice job. Is there any chance to use original (now unstick) fabric? I would like to disassembly it from car, stick it and get it back. On the Compact.
    What I see in my car...there is very thin fabric..I am affraid when I use some glue, the fabric will be coloured by the glue accordingly and I will damage it.. thanks

    • @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs
      @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs  4 роки тому +3

      Fabric may only be sagging in a few places & still neat, but if it previously hasn't been recovered,
      Adding glue to the existing factory material wont work, looks messy, it will leave a visable stain due to glue hitting raw fabric. Over time the foam backing on the fabric crumbles away making it un-stick & causing the fabric to fall down. To fix the sagging issue professionally, the Foam/Fabric needs to be replaced.
      Kind regards,
      Reece

      Headliner boards can be reused, but not the old fabric, and best to go your local motor trimming supply center to purchase new foam backed headliner fabric.
      I've put together a step by step DIY system for you, that uncovers and peels back some of the layers of how to repair a car roof lining. I'll Show You What Glues to Use & What Fabrics To Buy. Just follow this link below ⇩

      thanks for the answer. In the end I found a local upholstery shop and bought the fabric there.
      For a first attempt I am not too disappointed It still holds strong after 3 months.
      The only issue I had was that for some reason the from of the board was glued to the roof. I had to insert a blade and kinda separate it gently. Of course you can't see what you're doing and have to feel around without bending the board

    Mine is discolored (a yellow color) near the back window. Is this water damage?

    • @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs
      @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs  4 роки тому +1

      The yellow colour usually comes from the old foam changing to that orange yellow colour and crumbling. Or from someone adding in there own glue with the aim to hold the sagging fabric up, however usually what happens here is the glue added just bleeds through the fabric and gives iff a stain, which commonly can look yellow.
      However water leaks are possible.

      New fabric can be purchased from your local motor trimming supply center, its usually a foam backed fabric. Our two big Australian companies we use are Dayley's Trimming Supplies and Nolan UDA
