I don't think I agree with you that Chopper would be that enthusiastic about Yoda. The Republic military was HUGE, and even if he had heard the name, I don't see him being that familiar with him.
Yeah but he's been living with Kanan for years who only ever spoke in the highest regard for Yoda...not to mention Hera who repaired him was always grateful to the Jedi for liberating Ryloth with she was a child. Plus, the mission itself was seek out Yoda at the Lothal temple like they had the first time.
